1 The Beginning of Luca Carlucci

The meeting of two people is destined by Fate. It could begin as a beautiful journey and end however Fate would want it to end. There's no telling what can happen.

Born to a family of doctors, ever since he was a kid, he was told to always smile, whether he wanted to or not. He was told to not always say what's on his mind and to tell things that would not hurt the other party. This too was for his career prep. As a child, he didn't care about that and did as he liked. This led to many painful experiences such as losing his closest friend by telling the truth and hurting his classmates. He made his resolve to hide his personality outside and to be a successful doctor.

Years went by and now Luca is a high school student. He's well-liked and everyone has a good opinion of him. He's an all-round Mr Perfect. His black hair and forest green eyes, which were a rarity, made him be one of the best looking guys at school. He had plenty of girls who adore him and guys who admire him. He was living the perfect life. Or so he was made to believe. Everything changed yet again and this time was comparatively better.

The last class had finally gotten over and the class was relieved and exhausted. They all just wanted to bolt out of the hell hole also known as school. Luca was about to leave when he got called out by Emily Winters, also known as the class' Madonna. She was a petite girl with fair skin, dark hair which was envied by all the other girls and to top it off a voice and temperament that would make everyone want to protect her. But Luca knew much better.

She looked at Luca with a pink face, making the boys jealous of Luca, and spoke to him in the softest voice possible.

"Luca, can we meet at the roof tomorrow at lunch?"

"Yeah see you there then!" Luca gave her his standard Prince smile and left.

Emily knew her chances of hooking Luca into her clutches was a hundred times more than the other girls with her picture-perfect personality and looks. With her and Luca together, her opportunities just get a lot better. Becoming the school president would be a cinch.

While Emily gloated in her dreams, Luca was wondering how to get out of this predicament. The group of boys that surround him badgered him into giving details on what their princess said to him. Ashton simply smiled and punched him on his shoulder, congratulating him on getting a cute girl. Out of the whole group, Ashton James was the only one who he felt was closer to him but that's only because he's been around the longest. But they weren't friends since they knew nothing about each other. They hung about the park and slowly headed home as they grumbled about their impending doom of homework.

He reached home pretty late and marched through the gates of his mansion. He popped his head through the entrance of the kitchen, looking for the homely and sweet housekeeper he knows and loves.

"Susan! You in here? I got in just now."

"Hey, Luca! I just started on dinner. Guess what I'm cooking?" A woman smiled and pointed to a pot full of a rich and creamy mixture of potatoes, carrots, peas and capsicum.

"Aw yes! Your veggie stew is the best!"

"Yeah I know right! Go up and see what Luna is up to and change out of those dirty clothes. What DID you do to get them like that?"

He shrugged and went up the stairs to his little sister's room. A pink door with a large sign which read ' BIG BROTHER LU ONLY ' came into view and he knocked gently before opening it. A tiny girl with ponytails on each side of that cute head hopped out to hug him. This little cutie had his heart and soul from the moment she was born. On ruffling up her hair, he asked how her day went.

"So Lulu, what was today's agenda?"

"Well Lu, I had my business meeting on the decreasing sales of our cookies. I have a feeling Mr Rabbit is being blackmailed into selling information on our rival company. I'm seeing the problem right now!"

The kid's only six but look at her! A genius is what she is, and she's a million times better than most people thrice her age. She's on the path to breaking our family tradition of being doctors by being a businesswoman. Luca wouldn't have her any other way and he will dote on her to the moon and back.

"Oho, what do you plan to do my lil moon? That isn't good for your cookie sales."

"I plan to feed fake information to Mr Rabbit and some of the people I suspect to be blackmailed as well in the meeting. I've only told the correct information to my right-hand teddy. He's perfectly honourable. I trust him with my life. I've also told him to keep an eye on the suspects as well. So I'm perfectly prepared for anything!"

How cute can she get! He pats her head and tells her dinner will be ready soon. He went to his boring old room and crashed onto the bed before he fell asleep. He woke up to Luna jumping on his stomach to get him awake.

He took his place at the dining table as the rest of his family sat down. His father was a legend in the medical community for his life-saving procedures and his stepmother was famous for her efficient and lovely work at the hospital. His real mother was a teacher but she died of cancer. His stepmother wasn't bad though, they just weren't close. As amazing as they are in their fields, they can't keep a family due to their workaholic natures. Their family had doctors in every generation and those who didn't become one are disowned to keep it that way. Not like I would let them do that to Luna as I'll do the needful. We ate in solemnity and the mood was overall terrible. They were eating in silence until their father awkwardly spoke up.

"So son, I've been hearing you've been coming late in the most unbecoming manner these days. I hope you won't ruin our reputation like this."

This earned him a nudge from his wife.

"Dear he's a growing child and he would want to have fun with his friends."

He promised it won't happen again and quickly finished his meal even though he wanted to slowly savour it. He excused himself and Luna followed him. His parents looked grave as they completed their meal in utter silence before they took up a topic of a particular case in the hospital.

He tucked Luna into bed as he looked around for this old book of various fairytales and folktales from around the world he found in his attic. It had said it was written by a disowned child of his family but it was kept in his memory by his mother. The owner of the book had written on the first page that ' Our future is full of obstacles but that doesn't mean we can't have little fun with it ' and it just resonated within him. Stories are essential in everyone's lives, especially in those of children. No matter how untrue they could be, you would always hope for it to happen to you one day.

He started where he last finished and continued it until she fell asleep.

".... and that was how the princess defeated the prince and saved the dragon from his cruel sword!"

Luca adores the stories that aren't part of the norm. A lil spice in a story goes a long way.

After seeing his darling sister asleep, he quietly leaves the room to go to his own.

He started studying physics but it didn't take long for him to sleep after all its physics and high school level boring topics at that.
