10 The First Mission

"I think it's safe to put me down now, right?" Da Xia asked in an innocent tone as she looked around the clearing where they were currently standing.

Li Wei nodded his head before he crouched down to let her stand on her own.

"Wow! How did you even know about this place? There are more than just a few dead trees over here!" Da Xia exclaimed in surprise as her eyes took in the huge dead trees that were standing around her. She could not understand why there were so many dead trees in a forest that was filled with greenery and life.

"I don't know either. It's just every time I'm looking for wood, I used to end up finding these dead trees by some chance." Li Wei replied with a little shrug as he too observed the area.

Da Xia kept her eyes fixed on her husband to see if he was telling the truth or not. Fortunately, the expression on his face seemed to be genuine.

[Hey kitty, do you think it's his Demon power that's helping him?]

She asked the kitty through the mind link but only received a silent treatment in response to her question. It took everything in her to not scoff at the little kitty's attitude.

"Any idea why these trees are dead?" She instead asked the question to her husbands as she was really curious about it.

"The only reason for these trees' current situation seems to be a ferocious battle between spirit beasts. The trees likely got damaged during their fight. I have always found evidence of such fights on the trunk of these trees or in the nearby area. Just look at the burning mark on that trunk or the scratch marks of sharp claws on this one." Li Wei answered her question as he showed her the said evidence on the dead trees.

Da Xia had to agree that his theory did make sense and the proof/evidence only solidified it.

"Alright. Let's not waste any more time. We should collect wood and return home as soon as possible," She said as she picked the axe from Li Jun's hand and marched toward one of the big dead trees with that heavy tool in her hands.

After standing there in front of the tree for the next few but very long minutes, as she stared at the axe in her hands, Da Xia finally turned to face her husbands with a sheepish look on her face as she blurted, "It looks like.....I.....don't know...how....to.....chop.....a.....tree...."

Yep! She was only good at chopping onions and other vegetables in the kitchen. She knew absolutely nothing about chopping wood in forests.

Li Jun chuckled at her cute reactions while Li Wei moved toward her to take the axe from her hands. "It's alright. I will do it. You and Jun'er should stay away from such harsh works."

Da Xia immediately nodded her head and then scurried over to where Li Jun was sitting under the shade of a huge tree with brownish-red and dark-green leaves.

As she returned her attention to Li Wei, she found her breath catching in her throat at the sight of the bare upper body of her husband. He had taken his robes off and was only wearing his white pants and boots. Though none of the brothers were well built as they belonged to a poor family, their bodies were still far better than what she imagined. There were muscles in just the right places, and their lean waists could make any girl jealous.

"Wifey, are you alright? Your face looks so red." Li Jun suddenly spoke out in a worried tone, making Da Xia cough as she felt Li Wei turning his attention toward her.

"Ah! No, no! I'm perfectly alright. Maybe, it's just the heat." She hurriedly found an excuse as she fanned herself with her hands to get rid of the blush that was decorating her cheeks and highlighting her guilt.

She could still feel Li Wei's eyes on her but she did not dare to look at him even once. She was a girl for heaven's sake and one who could appreciate a hot man when she saw one. It was not her fault that she was surrounded by two ethereal-looking men with such beautiful and alluring features.

[Host, the first mission is found. Would you like to take it?]

The kitty suddenly announced through their mind link, making Da Xia flinch a little but the good thing was that none of the Li brothers noticed it.

[What's the mission?]

She asked as she tried to appear as calm as possible even though she was filled with eagerness for her first-ever mission.

[Can you see the grass over to your right with purple blades and little white flowers?]

The kitty asked her and Da Xia immediately looked toward her right to find the said grass and she replied a 'Yes' when her eyes finally landed on a couple of those grasses.

[These are called Purple Spirit grass. Though this grass is mostly considered a waste by the cultivators, it still has some use. You can collect these grasses and mix them in your fields. Not only it will help to nourish the soil but if the amount of grass is high enough, there are chances that your crops will start collecting spirit energy with time.]

The kitty explained in a tone as if it was reading a paragraph from a book.

Da Xia remained silent for the next few seconds as she pondered on the topic. After a few minutes, she finally replied.

[Alright! I'll take the mission. I'll collect as many of these grasses as I can!]

The next moment, a screen appeared in front of her, making her panic a little as she immediately looked at her husbands to see their reactions but it appeared like she was the only one who could see the screen. As she relaxed, her attention was back on the screen on which a box was made with her first mission written on it.

Da Xia pressed the confirm icon and got ready for her very first mission.
