8 Renovating The Kitchen

Two hours later...

"Oh my, I can't do it anymore. We need to take a break." Da Xia's voice ranged in the small kitchen as she emerged out into the small courtyard and settled down on the hard floor.

After two hours of continuous hard labor, her fragile twenty-year-old body was tired and aching very badly. Not only that but since it was already past noon, her stomach was also growling in hunger.

"Wifey, are you alright?" Li Jun asked as he walked toward her and settled down on the ground beside her.

Da Xia turned her face to look at her younger husband and with a sad face, she shook her head, telling him that she was not okay at all.

"Household work is too tiring. We wasted two hours in just emptying the kitchen and cleaning and washing it. And the more I'm looking at it the more changes I want to make to it. Aish! This is not good at all." Da Xia let out an exhausted sigh as she stared at the empty kitchen.

Li Wei settled down on her other side and handed her a cup of water. Da Xia thanked him as she gulped down the entire cup in one go.

"You are hungry, right?" Li Wei asked as he wiped the sweat off her forehead with his sleeve.

Da Xia's heart warmed after seeing the concern on the faces of the two princes. A soft smile made its way to her lips which left the two princes in awe for a second.

"Don't worry. Let's finish this work first. Later, we will have a nice dinner as a prize for our hard work, alright?" She asked her two husbands. The two Princes quickly nodded their heads in agreement. They would do anything that their wife wanted them to do.

"Okay. As long as wifey is happy, Jun'er will do whatever she wants." Li Jun beamed at his wife as he replied.

Da Xia had no idea what came over her at that moment but before she could realize it, her lips were already planted on the soft skin of Li Jun's forehead. As her mind registered her actions, her eyes grew large like a soccer ball. She quickly pulled away and looked at the victim of her harassment.

What she didn't expect was to see a dumbfounded Li Jun suddenly beaming at her as he said, "That...that felt so...so good, wifey."

She had no idea how to react to that. She could feel her cheeks burning with embarrassment as she tried to avoid looking straight into Li Jun's eyes.

"Cough...cough...!"

They were disturbed by the coughing sounds that belonged to Li Wei who had watched everything as he sat there just beside them.

"What are we going to do next?" Li Wei asked as he pointed toward the kitchen with his eyes.

"Oh! That...umm...is there a place where we could find wooden planks?" Da Xia asked as she turned her expression serious.

"Wooden planks? There's a shop on the second street which sells those but for that, we will need money." Li Wei replied with an embarrassed face. The fact that they could no longer provide for their wife was the worst thing that could have happened to them. They were never able to save enough money and almost all the money that they managed to save in the past year got used in their wedding.

"Oh! Well...what about a forest? Is there no forest nearby?" Da Xia asked as another idea popped up in her mind. She had read and written a lot of wuxia and Xinxia novels. It was the perfect moment to use the knowledge that she gained from her stories and senior authors.

"Of course, there is. The Jia Province is located at the foot of the Phoenix Peaks Mountain Ranges." Li Jun answered her question.

"Well, that's good news then. Let's head there right now. I'm sure it will be a fruitful visit." Da Xia said excitedly.

However, before she could take a single step forward, two pairs of hands stopped her as they grabbed both her hands hurriedly.

Da Xia looked at her husbands with a confused expression, not sure what was wrong with them.

"Xiaxia, you can't enter into the Phoenix Peaks just like this. Even though its outer circle is not dangerous for us humans to enter, there are still some possibilities of encountering some small-level spirit beasts. You can't be reckless." Li Wei tried to explain to her the dangers that awaited them in the Phoenix Peaks.

Even though he and Jun'er would be there with her, but even they were not skilled in dealing with the ferocious spirit beasts of the Phoenix Peaks.

Da Xia was already a little shaken at the thought of wandering through a forest on foot. However, Li Wei's words almost gave her a panic attack.

Damn, the fate! She was not some high-level assassin, special agent, genius doctor, or a world-famous businesswoman of the modern world.

Nope! She was a young and meek author who only knew how to use her imagination to write stories and how to take care of her small farmhouse. How could she not be afraid when listening about the vicious spirit beasts who were only supposed to exist in wuxia novels?

[Hey, Little kitty! Are you there?]

Da Xia hurriedly asked the question through the mind link that had opened between her and the kitty cub.

[Yes.]

[Do you think I can survive the Phoenix Peaks at my current level?]

Da Xia immediately asked the most important question.

There was a silence for the next few seconds which made cramps appear in her stomach. And the fact that both of the princes were still looking at her, waiting for her reply was driving her even crazier.

[Yes, you can.]

Came the reply from the kitty.

Da Xia felt her body relaxing as she let out a deep sigh. She looked at both of her husbands as she said, "Alright, I understand what you are saying. All three of us will prepare before living for the Phoenix Peaks. Let's go and get ready."
