15 Healing Power

"Can you let it go now?"

A sigh escaped Da Xia's lips when the man, or more like the ghost of Li Jun, immediately shook his head in denial as he kept sucking on her injured thumb.

The tingling sensations that were erupting in her thumb every time his tongue flicked across the tip, were making her insides flutter like a butterfly. She kept chewing on her lower lip just to make sure to not let out any type of incoherent sound.

She was supposed to feel pain since he was sucking on her swollen thumb but instead of pain, her body was experiencing a weird but good kind of pleasure. She turned her face to look at Li Wei who was sitting just a few feet away. The man had his entire focus on the noodles that she had prepared for the brothers in the morning. Though she kept telling them that the noodles were no longer edible, they did not listen to her.

Li Jun was the first one to finish his bowl of noodles and after drinking two cups of warm water, he took hold of her swollen thumb before suddenly putting it in his mouth.

While she was busy asking Li Jun to let go of her thumb, Li Wei was busy gulping down a second bowl of the soggy noodles.

Li Wei noticed the gaze that was trained on him and raised his head to look at her. He stopped eating for a second to speak, "He's trying to heal you. Just let him."

Da Xia watched as Li Wei again returned his attention to his noodles. She let out another sigh before she turned to look at Li Jun who finally pulled out her thumb from his mouth with a pop sound.

"See, wifey. It's almost healed!" He claimed in happiness, making Da Xia look at her thumb which no longer looked swollen but just a little red from all the sucking that it had just experienced.

She hurriedly moved her thumb to see if she could feel any pain or discomfort but found nothing. It felt like her thumb was just as perfect as possible.

"Wow! How did you-? Does your saliva contain some sort of healing power?" She asked Li Jun with surprise and curiosity clearly visible on her face.

In response to her question, Li Jun smiled sheepishly as he shook his head before replying, "I don't know for sure. When I saw your swollen finger, my first instinct was to help you get rid of the pain, and I did the first thing that came into my mind. I did not know that it would actually work."

Da Xia slowly nodded her head as she remained silent for a while. Her eyes keenly observed both the Li brothers as she thought about how to earn the much-needed Prowess Points.

"Wifey, are you not going to check the items that we have brought?" Li Jun suddenly asked when he noticed how silent Da Xia was.

"Oh, right! I almost forgot about it." She said while lightly slapping her forehead as she hurriedly moved toward the bundles that were sitting in front of the kitchen.

Both Li Jun and Li Wei followed behind her. The latter had finally finished his second bowl of noodles.

The first bundle that Da Xia opened had rice, wheat flour, some pulses, and spices along with a small pouch that contained tea. The second bundle included some herbs and fruits that they had collected from the forest. There was also a bag of five eggs resting safely along with the other items.

She also noticed the huge pile of firewood that Li Wei had stocked up next to the entrance of their house. All in all, it was clear that her husbands had spent their morning working hard just to provide for her.

Her eyes once again turned toward the bundles that were filled with rations. A frown appeared on her face as she kept staring at the items for a while before finally looking up at her husbands.

"Other than me no one can see the both of you in your spirit form. Can you explain how you guys bought the flour, rice, eggs, spices, and tea? I know that the other things are from the forest but I'm sure the formers are not available there."

Her tone sounded calm but her eyes were staring coldly at her two husbands who suddenly appeared like they had been caught red-handed.

Finding out that their wife was not looking very happy at the moment, Li Jun immediately slipped behind his brother who too was having a hard time replying to their wife's questions.

When Da Xia received no response from either of the Li brothers, her doubts only became more solid. "Don't tell me that you guys have stolen these items from the shops in the village!"

"No!"

"We didn't!"

This time, both Li Wei and Li Jun quickly responded to her accusation, denying it immediately as they looked at her with hurt expressions on their faces.

Even though Da Xia noticed that they appeared to be sad after hearing her accusing them, she was not ready to become soft-hearted so soon. She needed to find out the truth.

"Really? Then please explain how you got these items without stealing them." She stared at the brothers while waiting for them to start spilling the truth.

"All our savings were used in the marriage and there was no more money left in the house other than a few copper coins. There's no food in the kitchen either. As your husbands, we can't let you starve. So we used the money that was left in our hands to buy these. We packed up whatever we wanted and left money in the shops. It was not stealing since we left money in exchange." Li Wei told her as he kept his eyes trained on his shoes.

"Oh...!"

Da Xia was only able to muster out that tiny sound as she realized that she was too quick to judge the brothers. Seeing their fallen expressions, a new wave of guilt hit her. Why did she always end up hurting them in one way or another?
