10 The aftermath

"How do I perform the contract?!!" Ed was hopeful because if he could get such a strong companion it would help him a lot. He had thought before that he could get stronger alone, so he did not want to summon monsters using the Gacha.

However while fighting the wolves he knew it wouldn't be that easy, as the danger was in every corner in this world.

[If both of you agree, the soul contract will be fulfilled on its own.]

Hearing the system, Ed got closer to the wolf and looked at its eyes. Even though it was dying, the yellow bight eyes were still full of life and determination.

"Black Wolf, how would you like to do a soul contract with me?" Ed didn't know if the wolf could understand him but he didn't care. He didn't need to worry as the wolf was smart and could generally understand human language.

After Ed spoke, it closed its eyes as if entering into a mode of deep thinking.

Ten seconds later it opened its eyes. " Awoooooo!! It gave a deep howl as if it was a sign of its agreement.

[Host should place his hand on the wolf's head to start the contract ceremony]

Ed was very happy that the wolf agreed, and very quickly put his hand on its head. He was afraid it might change its mind.

Suddenly a light enveloped both Ed and the wolf. Becky saw this and was startled, she had never seen a soul contract. "Young master!" She then started sprinting towards Ed but he stopped her "It's okay Becky, it's nothing dangerous" She then stopped because of the order but was ready to intervene in case anything was seemed out place.

Around one hour later the light receded. Ed and the wolf looked like most of their injuries were healed so they could stand up and walk.

"Woof!" The wolf barked at Ed as if indicating something. Ed understood it wanted to be named.

"Let's see what to do about your name? Since you are black how about Kuro?" Ed said jokingly.

"Grrr..." The wolf didn't seem to like it that much.

"Okay then how about this, Raikou: the thunder emperor?!" Ed remembered a certain thunder canine's name.

"Woof!!" Raikou seemed to like its new name.

*Ding*

Acquired 10 Gacha tickets.

'What's this about' Ed was happy about getting the tickets so he asked the system how he got them.

[It is a reward for successfully contacting a monster whose cultivation is higher than yours]

Ed was happy and decided he should stop for the day.

"Let's go back then. Becky we should go back it's already late" Ed signed to Becky that they should get ready to get back to the house.

After leaving the forest they got on the carriage. The carriage had the glory sect's insignia so no one would dare to steal it. And since Becky was the one driving they didn't have to worry about the driver.

They took about 2 hours this time getting back since it was already dark.

As they were entering the house, Ed saw his mother waiting for him and got a fright. He was afraid she would chew him out for leaving without telling her.

"Ed! You're back! Are you okay? Any dangerous injuries?! I understand that every man wants to get stronger, but please don't let anything happen to you!"

Ed could only wryly smile as his mother let one question after the other. He still felt warm inside for having such a considerate mother.

"I'm okay mother really. Only some small injuries" He wanted to reassure his mother.

His mother wasn't convinced and kept checking out his body, she then noticed Raikou that was behind him.

"What's this wolf? Did it follow you here? Is it your friend? Does it want food?" Again his mother kept shooting off one question after the other.

"No mother, this is Raikou. We have a soul contract" Explained Ed.

"A soul contract?!!" His mother looked like she heard the most outstanding thing ever.

'Is there something wrong with soul contacts System?' Ed asked the system for help.

[Soul contracts mean that both monster and contractor trust each other with their lives, since if one dies the other dies as well]

'And you didn't think of telling something important like this before?!!' Ed couldn't help but retort in his mind.

Ed's mother looked flustered but knew nothing could be done after establishing a soul contract. She at least relieved knowing that the wolf wouldn't hurt her son.

After satisfying his mother's curiosity Ed headed to the bath with Raikou to get rid of the blood and dirt. He took Raikou with him since he didn't want to be left alone in case his father comes barging in again.

Ed could feel all his injuries stunning him when he entered the water, Raikou also released a few whimpers but he seemed like he enjoyed the hot water. The duo kept enjoying the water while Ed was checking his stats again.

"System what would be his level if converted to a game like display?"

'That high!' Ed was surprised that he was able to even fight Raikou with such a difference. But he guessed that with his sword mastery and his Sharingan it was possible.

"Raikou it's time to get out" Ed called Raikou and they both got out of the bath.

Ed then went to his room and asked Becky to bring him and Raikou some food. He avoided eating in the hall as it was embarrassing so he always used the excuse of being injured or training.

A while later he heard knocks on his door an thought it was Becky, so he told her to enter. However, the one who came in was Bella, his little sister.

"Brother I heard you got a pet now can I see him?!!" Bella came in with so much energy that she even scared Raikou who was laying down.

"He's not my pet Bella he's more like my partner" Ed knew that Raikou wouldn't like being called a pet.

Raikou then got up and stood in front of Bella. He was taller than her so if anyone saw them they would scream for help fearing for Bella's life.

However, Raikou knew Bella was Ed' sister and licked her face. After that Bella's face beamed and she started talking happily with her brother while petting Raikou.

After eating and sending his sister away, Ed decided to put an end to this day and sleep.
