Mixed emotions run through the humanzee’s head. Death is nothing new to her, Father showed her enough videos containing death, the images of radiation poisoning comes to mind, gunshot victims, humans stabbed to death, mob justice, but none of them prepared her for the stench, the reality of the death of the one she called Father.
The image of the Baboon secured to a highchair fills her mind and with it the curiosity of the primate in her. Eve turns her muscular body away from the doorway that leads to the fresh outside air, and with purpose moves back along the passage towards the smell of death and the frenetic buzzing of the flies feeding off the bodies.
