28 Cultivating an Excalibur in Douluo Dalu

Before I get in to the nitty gritty, I'd like to make a short statement. I do NOT mean the Excalibur from Fate, but if you want to use it as his Spirit, that's fine. I'm merely using Excalibur as a measure of how powerful it is. The MC's Spirit will be a Divine Sword, which he will grow into a weapon of similar stature to the legendary Blade of King Arthur. Technically, it doesn't even have to be limited to Excalibur, you could use powers from any legendary blade. Durandal, Ascalon, Balmung, Caladbolg, Claiomh Solais, Mistilteinn, Gram, and Dainsleif are all possible candidates to draw inspiration from.

If you want, you can add some kind of reasonable gift which allows him to age his Spirit Rings, though I think that's starting to become cliche. Perhaps an ability which exchanges large amounts of Spirit Energy for a slight increase. Obviously, almost all of his Rings will need to have a holy attribute, which may cause some difficulties. Some examples of Skills I'd like to see are: A Domain of some kind, Healing or Regeneration, Light Constructs, A Blinding Flash, and of course an attack similar to Excalibur or Balmung. If you don't want to use any of these, that's understandable. As we want this sword to be as powerful as possible, the MC will be aiming for Godhood. Obviously he'll be doing so completely with his own effort, no taking the easy way.

On to plot, I think either a reincarnation or insert would be the way to go. I think reincarnation is the better choice, it would give him a high degree of control in what his Spirit will become, where as the insert MC would just be coincidentally grabbing all these Spirit Rings that have these powers. Plus, the reincarnation MC would probably have a goal of his own to work towards, giving him a reason to train at an extremely young age. Sure, you could say the insert's family is strict in making the MC train diligently, but they can't keep an eye on him at all times, and children are generally explorative. An adult mind is usually more disciplined, allowing the reincarnated MC to be more focused.
