Waking up to an empty house wasn't new to Vaughn. She figured that her father never really comes home to sleep and mostly comes home if there's a deal with her involved, her mother was no where to be found on the morning of her 7th birthday. She didn't bother to look for her, for she knows that she never wanted to go home after being mistreated by her own husband.

Taking a deep breath as she starts for school. As a student she's obliged to finish her studies and at the same time train under her father's care as an Assassin.

"Yo, Vaughn. Party later. You comin'?" One of her party-freak classmate asks.

"I'll think about it," she speaks not even turning back to look at who she's pertaining to. Feeling her phone buzz in her pocket, she pulls it out to check on it.

Too fixated on her phone as she walks, she was bumped on the shoulder by the most arrogant cocky guy the school has. More like bumped on purpose.

"Watch it!" In her most irritating voice, she turns around with that furrowed and irritated eyebrows only to see a smirking Jax Sanchez.

"Aww, I'm so sorry Miss Adalane," A smirk was again plastered on his face. For he knows that Vaughn hates it so much to be called by her second name.

"Shut up or you won't have any balls for the rest of your life?" Giving him a glare that shows only half of her hazel brown eyes.

"Oooh, I'm scared" Jax provokes her still.

Both turning around to go separate ways, because they know that that argument will lead to nothing.

"Hey Vaughn, are you going to the party tonight?" Her best friend Rade catches up to her. Pushing up that stupid glasses of his that fit his face.

"I don't know. I have varsity practice after classes, and target shooting this afternoon," Vaughn lays her busy schedule for the day.

"But i heard the party's at 8 maybe you could find some time so we could go?" her best friend still insists.

"Okay, can you tell me why are you suddenly into parties? You practically hate them," She states a matter of fact that Rade does hate parties.

"I do hate them. But don't you think that if we go to this party, we might capture and gather clues and maybe find out who has that diamond gem your dad wanna get his hands on," Her clever best friend say.

The diamond gem is what her father's after. Vaughn and Rade did research and found out that the Diamond gem is in one of the highest paid criminals around. But all that research and gathering different information only leads them away from their actual target. They haven't pinned point who exactly holds the Diamond Gem.

"How will we know about who currently holds the gem? It's like they will be at that stupid party," Vaughn was right. Do you think if you're the one holding the precious gem that everyone wants to get their hands on, will you still leave the confines of your house?

"Dude, there is literally nothing wrong if we gather clues," both taking a turn to the hallway, reaching their classrooms.

"Fine. We'll go tonight," Vaughn has no choice. They both wanna get their hands on the holder of the Diamond Gem to carry on with their mission. Getting that Diamond Gem is just the first step in accomplishing their mission.

"Great. I'll meet you after your afternoon practice," They went on separate ways for their classes.

I'm gonna know where's that Gem tonight.

Night falls and Vaughn was getting ready to go to that stupid party just for the sake of the Diamond gem.

"Seriously dude, how long are you planning to take just to put on some jeans and shirt?" An irritated Rade comes in her room slamming the door open.

"I'm done already! Just stop complaining," mumbling a few words after she walks pass her bestfriend.

Both getting in the car they'll be using to the venue. Added to the fact that Rade hates parties, and Vaughn was just forced to be there, what could they be seeing there anyway?

Welcomed by the loud booming music from upfront the house. Large crowd of people even reached the outskirts of the lot. Finally making their way in as they spot the person who hosted the party.

"I'm glad you guys made it!" The owner of the house greeted them warmly. "Help yourselves, there's food. There's more in the kitchen," the guy offers.

"Sure. Nice party," Vaughn speaks instead, with a nodding Rade beside her.

Watching the guy disappear from the thick crowd he has for the party, Vaughn notices Rade's uneasy behavior. Fidgeting with his hands has always been Rade's mannerisms when he's nervous.

"C'mon let's just get some punch drink and just head to the balcony upstairs. come on," Vaughn pulls on Rade's arm to lead him to where the drink is, Both heading upstairs.

Seeing some obviously drunken people dancing on tabletops, and some even making out in the corner.

A disgust look was plastered on Rade's face. "This is why i hate Parties. Imagine how many germs are passing back and fourth in their mouths. Egk!" Disgusted at the fact.

Vaughn laughs at her bestfriend's reaction, "you'll get there,"

Instead the guy with the glasses just rolls his eyes, looking around at the huge crowd below them.

"Okay so, i did some research...again, about the Gem. I'm thinking, what if the one who has it is just a close contact? Don't you think?" He pushes his glasses up his nose yet again.

"Well, do we encounter someone suspicious? Like they're hiding something?" Vaughn gets into what her bestfriend says.

"I haven't notice anyone, but maybe one of these days we'll find clues after clues," Rade takes a drink at the drink he has in hand for the past ten minutes already. The girl beside him just simply nods as she's busy scanning the crowd. Instantly spotting Jax with a bunch of ladies surrounding and flirting with him.

He seriously makes me sick!

Not while after feeling her own phone vibrate, "excuse me i have to take this,"

Going out to the open area for the reception. And to at least hear what her father's saying.

"Dad, what is it?" Plugging her other ear to hear the other line more clearer.

"Where are you? Come home. We need to discuss something," that stern voice she's used to, she hears those once again.

"Fine, I'll be-" the end of the call on the other line cuts her off.

...home in a bit...

It wasn't the first time her dad hung up on her. He does that every phone call he makes with her. Despite her wandering thoughts she made her way back to her waiting bestfriend. She heaves a deep sigh as she scans the crowd yet again.

"Dude, i uh...need to go. Dad called and he needs me home," brows furrowing, wondering what does her father wants.

"I'll leave this place too. I can't stay in here any longer," Rade releases a laugh, hoping to relieve his bestfriend's unamused face.

Together they went back to the car they rode.

With slumped shoulders Vaughn enters their house door. Instantly spotting her father at the dinning table with that usual newspaper delivered at the front door every morning.

"What is it this time, dad?" She walks towards the long dining table.

"I'm working on a mission," the newspaper slowly being put on the table. Her face lit up like an amused kid who's getting a trip around the amusement park.

Does he want me to join him? It's my first time after a few months! I'd love to join him in a mission!

"I won't be home for a few weeks. I want you to come home immediately every after school until I come back. There might be someone watching and eventually might just hurt you," her father stands up and went upstairs to his room.

That's it? No "I want you to join me in a mission" scenario or something?

Her excitement drops once she realized her father has nothing else to say.

Wow. . .

"You're not always home, that's not new to me," Vaughn mumbles instead.

But is that what her dad really wants to say? Or does he want to say something else?
