"Okay, Einstein," I muttered to myself, "now what?"

I stopped moving. A park lay on the other side of the road, a small maintained forest, thick with oaks, maples, and pines. My next move was to get to them. Once I had some cover, I could worry about figuring something out. But first, I had to get off the street.

My legs refused to move.

"Who are you kidding?" I said aloud. "All your friends are gone. All your family is gone. The Church is all you had left. What are you going to do, sleep in the park, and hope that you don't get mugged, or attacked by a coyote?"
