3 Chapter 2: A rare treasure

Chapter 2-

Inside the courtyard of the Palace of the Royal Family, the King's group stood surrounding the unconscious mysterious golden-haired youth. One of the young female knights from the Scout Brigade came over after removing her cloak and covered the youth's naked appearance.

[Y-Your majesty..] -Nightmaster Duke

The old man was completely bewildered, in all of his years he had never come across such a situation. A mysterious golden-haired boy that fell from the skies.

[What an unusual type of hair..] -King Ironspine

The King touched his hair and showed an astonished expression.

[How pretty...] -Salina

The young girl moved over and immediately began rubbing the hair on her face.

[Princess please get away from that thing! Who knows what it could be, have you ever seen such hair before? Besides it weird color, look at it's texture. Look at his skin, have you ever seen such perfect skin on a man before? He's too weird!] -Dorian.

[Calm down Dorian, this boy isn't dangerous. He doesn't have a Dantian, anyone here can easily take care of him. I don't want anyone harming this kid.] -King Ironspine

Even though the King said the boy was harmless, he gathered a strange feeling from the youth. As if the boy were a born predator that just hadn't learned how to hunt. He noticed even though the boy did not have a Dantian to store mana, his body had been absorbing it frequently ever since he left the metallic crate. It was only very slight but he was able to pick up on it.

[Yes your majesty!] -Nightmaster Duke

Dorian showed an unreadable expression but still bowed.

[As you command] -Dorian

Suddenly--

[Attention passenger....Homepoint has been lost....Reason Unknown....Replaying footage] -Metallic Crate

The metallic crate spoke in their language, though they couldn't understand some words and the accent was a bit different they understood the meaning.

[Footage acquired]

Instantly a hologram shot up, showing the spacecraft circling the orbit of a planet that was different than theirs, they could tell because it only had one sun.

[A-another planet?! He came from another planet!] -Sophia

[Amazing, interesting...really interesting, what weird artifacts.] -King Ironspine

The Kings eyes lit up as well as the rest of his children, Salina played with his hair more and Liore had a strange expression as she stared at the boy. She seemed completely interested in him, very few things interested her but someone from another planet seemed to draw her in. Regius stared at him wide-eyed with an excited expression, he wanted to make friends with this guy from another world. Sophia's expression was more of concern for his well being, which surely infuriated Dorian.

[This image isn't magic is it...what sort of power does this thing use] -Nightmaster Duke

This old man was curious about an alternative power source aside from magic. In all his years this was the first time he laid eyes on an artifact similar to the rumors.

What happened next in the footage made them gasp.

Suddenly a huge light appeared on the planet that formed a mushroom and exploded outwards engulfing the entire planet. It would have been a beautiful scene, had it been an uninhabited planet but it was clearly the young boy's planet. Huge cracks appeared on the planet and it blew apart, the footage became unclear and cut off abruptly afterward.

[W-What in the heavens!!] -Nightmaster Duke

The old man shook in his boots

[His planet...was destroyed?] -King Ironspine

The King's fist clenched tightly and inhaled a deep breathe as he looked at this terrible sight.

[Oh my god!] -Sophia

Sophia and the rest of the children had looks of horror as they saw the outcome.

The King regained his composure and sent out orders.

[Dorian, lead the Scout Brigade and take this Artifact into the vault. Nightmaster take this boy and carry him to the medical ward in the palace] -King Ironspine

[As you command] -Dorian

[Yes your majesty!] -Nightmaster Duke

Just as they were about to move out--

[Father! Look!] -Regius

The red-haired boy pointed as the hologram once more appeared. This time it was of a black haired woman with green intelligent eyes and a sturdy man wearing weird white cloaks. The hologram seemed weak like it's power would die at anytime which caused static and made some parts unclear.

[Ar**...I'm sorry we tricked you ** you would have ne** left us otherwise...please **rgive us..we had to wipe your memories for *** sake of your survival *sob*...I love you ** my dear son] -Black haired woman

[Live my son! ** we wish ** LIVE! You are my one and only son! No **** what happens! Live!] - Sturdy man

Suddenly to the astonishment of the surrounding crowd the young boy opened his golden eyes that seemed like golden jewels and stretched toward the screen, the faces seemed familiar but he didn't know who they were and it made him sad. His beautiful, crystal like golden eyes revealed a stream of tears as the expressions on the people's face broke his heart. He then closed his eyes once more and passed out, leaving drops on his eyelashes.

The King's group remained silent as they all had to process these current events. The King then once more steeled his heart to stop the show and once more gave orders.

[Okay Dorian, go now and place the artifact in the vault! Nightmaster take him to the ward!] -King Ironspine

[Your orders!] -Dorian

[Yes your majesty!] -Nightmaster Duke

The Prince and Princesses followed after Nightmaster Duke who was carrying the young boy as well as the King. The King had a few things he wanted to find out about the boy so he went along. The medical ward of the Palace was conveniently located near the front of the Palace. A luxurious building that thrived on praticality and convenient use, however being the medical ward of the Royal Family it was indeed lavish and had symbols all around it that filtered the air. The guards at the entrance did not dare impede the King and give a salute.

Upon entering the Nightmaster hastily made his way and seemed to be quite familiar with the place, there was also a hint of nervousness on his brow. The King upon seeing the Nightmaster's nervous expression couldn't help but laugh. They finally reached a old fashion styled door with runic symbols and markings that shone brightly. It seemed to be enchanted with a quarantine effect that cut off the sound and filtered the air.

**Knock Knock**

[My dear wife Renissa, It is I, your husband] -Nightmaster Duke

[You've come back here again you old fool? What did you do this time? I told you it was time you started taking it easy, you're no young man again. Every day you come here with a new wound, if the King didn't need you I'd let you die one day for sure] -Renissa

The door opened an a grey haired old woman, dressed in a white robe with grey eyes and a cold scowl looked at Nightmaster Duke but upon recognizing his party immediately stared wide eyed. This woman was Medical Saint Master Renissa and Nightmaster Duke's wife.

[Ah your majesty! Please forgive this old fool for her outburst! I had no idea his majesty was present! Please punish this old fool!] -Renissa

The elder lady was about to kneel, one could see the pain swell up in her eyes and the King stopped her immediately.

[Please don't mention it Renissa, you who delivered my birth as well as my children's birth safely. Please don't kneel, I still have to find somehow to cure that knee of yours. I can't bear to see you in such pain] -King Ironspine

[Your majesty is too kind...Oh? what do we have here...Could this be the reason the Royal Family visits this old woman] -Renissa

She looked at the golden-haired boy and showed a look of interest.

[I've never seen such beautiful hair, the color and texture is much different.... and such pure skin almost like I'm looking at an immortal painting of a Sun God] -Renissa.

[That's not all, look at his eyes] -King Ironspine

The old woman lifted her hands and opened one of his eyes gently.

[Wha?! Golden pupils!] -Renissa

[Where did you find this boy your majesty?] -Renissa

[Would you believe me if I told you he fell from the Sky?] -King Ironspine

The King told the her the events which occured and after going through a range of emotions the old woman finally calmed down.

[Just when you think you've seen it all and you're ready to kick the bucket, something just comes up and surprises you] -Renissa

[My wife...don't die!] -Nightmaster Duke

[Shut up you old fool, at this rate you'd die before me] -Renissa

[Renissa, I'd like you to perform a few tests on him. There are a few things I'd like to know] -King Ironspine

[You kids go out the room now, give lady Renissa some space to work] -King Ironspine

[Father! I want to stay!] -Regius

[No you can't, this boy needs some privacy. We're going to make sure everything is fine with him] -King Ironspine

[Okay father!] -Regius

[Good boy] -King ironspine

[I'm staying...] -Salina

[You can't Salina, he's going to be naked are you fine with that?] -King Ironspine

[I don't mind] -Salina

[YOU SHOULD MIND!] -King Ironspine

[Jeez Salina...Regius and Liore let's go and give him some privacy] -Sophie

The eldest daughter spoke as she grabbed Salina and Regius' hands and led them out the room. Liore took a glance once more at the youth, which gathered the King and Renissa's attention and made them smile. When Liore realized they noticed her, her face reddened.

[ I was just curious! That's all! Don't go getting any weird ideas!] -Liore

[Curious about him or his body?] -King Ironspine

[FATHER!] -Liore

The cold faced beauty angrily left stomping her feet.

Currently the young boy's body was immersed in water with only his face exposed, this wasn't the usual water as it sparkled and gave off a medical scent. This was Water Healing Magics, the special liquid thoroughly scanned the boy's body as the Medical Saint Renissa flicked her old fingers and manipulated it.

[Well aside from not having a Dantian, he's an ordinary human with a variation. There seems to be something fused with him that affects his body constantly every moment. This absorbing feeling you noticed from him is exactly that. His body is adapting to the world, most likely his world had no such thing as mana and magic.

There are no traces of previous magic in his system, not even a drop of mana. However, now is different. The mana is being directly absorbed into his body and being incorporated into his muscles, bones and organs. As you know your majesty, warriors have a dantian in their chest and mages have one in their heads. There are rare people who were born with both but over time one dissolves.

I've never seen someone who directly absorbs mana into their bodies, that concept is beyond me. If he's given a mana purification and meditation technique, I'm curious as to what would happen. It's impossible to tell what can happen, however what I do know is that it's beneficial to him and won't harm him in anyway. His body seems to break up the mana on it's own without the help of a Dantian.

Your majesty if this gets out.....It would cause quite an uproar] - Renissa

[What do you mean? isn't it a good thing?] -King Ironspine

[Well certainly..but think about it. Imagine if his genes could be passed onto his children?] -Renissa

The King as if understanding opened his eyes wide. He realized he had been thinking too small minded and completely forget about that concept as he was just curious about the boy's physique.

[You mean...a child that both possesses this strange variant ability and a Dantian.....] -King Ironspine

[Correct! He has the potential to produce heirs of the strongest kind..and in this cursed world of ours he would be like a gold mine...that could cause some trouble from outside. I highly doubt we were the only ones to see that meteor crash. I propose we keep an eye on him and see how his future develops, we don't have any idea how this strange physique of his would be affected by mana] -Renissa

[We need to hide his existence for his safety from outsiders, do you have anything we can use to hide his hair color and eye color?] -King Ironspine

[Well we can dye his hair color and as for his eyes, there's a rare magic defect called Albino Magic eyes, it makes the eyes seem yellow...not much people are familiar with this defect so it can easily be used] -Renissa

The king made a quick and precise decision.

[Okay then, we'll make it so but how do we explain his existence?] -King Ironspine

[As for that, I can say he's a grandson of mine and he was bed ridden all his life in the Medical Palace Ward under my supervision. The nurses here were all raised and trained by me and will absolutely be loyal to your majesty] -Renissa

[Good, I'll head out and go speak to the people about tonight's occurrence. I'll publicly announce we retrieved an artifact from the meteor site and focus the attention on that. Many people have already seen us carrying up the metallic crate so hiding it is no good. To be honest even if someone gets greedy and tries to steal the artifact, I might allow it to be easy for them] -King Ironspine

Renissa was stumped to hear this.

[Your majesty? Why?] -Renissa

[The value of that metallic crate cannot be compared to the value of the boy and what's more the biggest piece of the artifact sunk into the Great Lake of the Hydra. No matter what it's like using a fat worm to catch a fish] - King Ironspine

[Once they take it, then people will ignore us but so long as we have it we'll have to worry about people snooping] -King Ironspine

Renissa understood and agreed wholeheartedly, it would be great if the attention could be diverted. The King then got up and then lead the Nightmaster out of the Medical Palace Ward and out to greet the people outside the gates of Nightmaster Duke's Mansion.

(AN: I mentioned it earlier that Nightmaster Duke's Mansion is like the Gate to enter the Royal Palace. I don't know if you can picture it in your mind)

[Hmm...I guess it's just you and me now young man. Make sure you get some good rest. There is no way you can recover your energy so quickly after such a harsh trip. I heard your circumstances...Child I'm sorry you carry such a terrible burden] -Renissa

The old woman looked at him with a hint of concern in her eyes, she stroked his hair and found it gave off a warm pleasant feeling like the sun.

[No wonder the little miss is so fond of your hair, if she knew we were to dye it she would be outraged] -Renissa

The old woman then opened one of her draws and took out a bottle, she approached the youth and using Water Magic she manipulated it in the dye and quickly and skillfully dyed his hair black. However, the hair flashed brightly for a second and then the dye slid off his hair. Renissa looked dumbfoundedly at this sight.

[Does his hair hold some importance or is it just an effect because of his special physique? It seems I'll have to make a trip to the Alchemist Branch and try to have something specifically made. Good thing that old fool of a husband of mine has a good friend there. I should take a nap in the mean time and wait for his majesty to return] -Renissa

The tiring Renissa took a nap on the single bed on the opposite side of the young man and quite easily fell asleep. One could see her knees trembling and at first glance could tell she was in pain. No matter how many remedies she tried nothing could fix her damaged knees and she had to live with harsh pains for a great number of years.

Arin's POV:

As I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was that I didn't remember anything. On the bed opposite to me an old lady lay down sleeping and she had a rather pained expression. I figured this old lady was probably taking care of me. I got up and took the cloak that was around me and fastened it around my waist. I walked over to the old lady and realized her knees was the cause of all the pain. Suddenly my head started becoming filled with medical knowledge and instantly at a glance I knew the woman had arthritis.

Several different remedies to cure it ran through my head and as I looked around I realized I was in a patient ward of some sort. Could it be I'm some sort of amnesia patient? It would make sense why I don't remember anything. While thinking of more causes, the smell of strong herbs wafted through my nose and I turned around and start entering the drawers and cabinets looking at all the ingredients. It was strange, though I couldn't remember anything for some reason I knew quite a lot.

A lot of these herbs had similar appearances and effects compared to the ones inside my memory. I don't even know how I knew of those herbs, all I knew was that I could identify every single herb in here and I knew several remedies for arthritis. Instantly I began crushing and grinding making sure not to make too much noise as to wake the old lady and began creating a pill that could regrow the lost fiber in her body.

After about 2 hours I finally finished making the pill, for some reason I could do it perfectly even though I had a feeling I've never done it before. Sometimes memories would come to me and help me guide my hand and little thoughts would pop up and notify me when I should stop grinding or when I should start boiling. I wondered where these memories come from but the instant I see the memory I forget about it, but the information obtained remains inside my head.

As I looked at the finished pill, I suddenly felt like someone was watching me. I swiftly turned around and realized the old lady had been watching me. I was so absorbed into making the pill I hadn't noticed when she got up, who knows how long she had been up. However I wasn't doing anything bad so I didn't panic. She looked at me with a dumbfounded look before opening her mouth to speak.

End of POV.

[What did you make there?] -Renissa

Renissa asked suspiciously as she realized it was a pill and the boy's actions were quite professionally done. Sol walked over to introduce himself properly to the lady that was taking care of him. As Sol had no idea what their relationship was he didn't want to assume anything and chose his words carefully.

[Hello, uhh my name is...? I'm sorry I don't know what my name is. When I got up I realized I didn't remember anything and I saw you sleeping over there. I thought maybe you were the one looking after me and when I saw you suffering from arthritis, I figured I would make a pill to help you in return] -Arin

[A-Arthritis? What's that?] -Renissa

Renissa perched up her ears as she wasn't familiar with that medical term and it touched her pride a bit. As someone named the Medical Saint Renissa, how could she not feel a bit embarrassed asking a junior about advice.

[When the cartilage between the bones in the knees becomes damaged and worn out] -Arin

[Will this pill work?] -Renissa

[Yes I think so, I'm not completely certain however] -Arin

[Fine if I die to hell with it! I can't stand these damn painful bones anymore anyhow! By the way call me Grandmother, you must never call me by my name which is Renissa by the way] -Renissa

Arin nodded and replied

[Yes Grand-mother] -Arin

(Could she really be my Grand-mother?) -Arin

He pondered as he looked at her. For some reason he didn't think so, but she was the only person he knew and she took care of him so she very well could be his grand-mother.

Renissa took the pill and quickly swallowed it. The effects immediately took place which shocked the golden-haired young man.

(According to the memories, pills were supposed to take time to become effective. How can it be so quick?) -Arin

[Oh my God! It's a miracle! I can move them completely without pain! How amazing! Not just my legs too, even the pain in my shoulder is gone!] -Renissa

When she turned around she was about to thank Arin and noticed the surprised expression on his face.

[You...you said it would work why are you acting so surprised!] -Renissa

[No it's just...the pills in my memory take time to work...I was surprised the effects can be so quick] -Arin

[What are you talking about? All pills work instantly...Ahh now I see the problem. Your world doesn't have mana, neither does it's herbs. Our world has mana, and our herbs are naturally mana infused] -Renissa

[Mana is the phenomenon that creates magic and mana is inside of us all-] -Renissa

As the old lady was about to begin a lecture she was interrupted.

[Wait.....what did you say? My world?] -Arin

Arin had a confused expression as he looked at Renissa
