5 4. Contract

Norah was fascinated with her new ability. Well more like she made a huge list in her notebook with all the delicious food she saw on television and the web.

"This is exciting!"

<Host, can't you be serious?>

"C'mon Sirin, it is a once in a lifetime gift!"

She was on a crazy eating spree, wishing for all kinds of delicious plates and filling the huge table of her enormous house with dishes of any kind. However, nothing could be forever wonderful. She was about to eat the fruit tart she materialized from the pastry contest on the tv show when the door opened abruptly interrupting her.

"Who…?"

"Norah! What the…?"

A woman in a black elegant and expensive dress and blond hair stood before her with astonished eyes.

"What is going on?!"

"Who are you?"

"What? You crazy woman… you know how I felt when you called last night and told me you were dying? I had to rush to this remote place in one night. I took the last flight and then a train and then a car ride… I wish I could just kill you right now."

The slowpoke Norah finally recalled who the woman was… well, she didn't but Sirin helped.

<Host, she is Kendra Rios, your assistant. But…>

'Yes, I know. She is a rip-off.'

Kendra Rios was the assistant her aunt hired for the original owner when her books started to sail off. Norah didn't have the head to manage all her finances as she was very busy with her books and travels and, of course, her illness. So her aunt offered her help, but after a few months Norah discovered them robbing her money and committing fraud, but she didn't care at all, as she was more concerned about living her life to the fullest.

Norah smirked at the antics of the woman all dressed in branded clothes. Then she took out her notebook and started writing not minding the woman's gazes.

"Norah, what are you doing?... Norah?!"

"Nothing much… just give me a minute… I have some inspiration, don't talk. I think I am making a best seller now!"

"Are you serious?!"

The woman's eyes glimmered in joy thinking about the wealth of the last book of Norah Talbot could bring her.

"No, you are fired."

Norah stopped writing and looked at the woman.

"What?! What are you saying?! Norah, are you joking?!"

"Nope,"

Kendra was about to laugh but Norah's face told her that she was serious. She felt an incredible fear growing inside. The Norah before her was different and she didn't know how to manage her.

"How could you? Your aunt…"

"My aunt? She is being detained for fraud right now. Didn't you know?"

"What?!"

"Don't you believe me? Go, check it out."

Kendra opened her phone and saw the news with photos of Norah's aunt's detention all over the internet. Her eyes couldn't believe it. Just a few seconds ago everything was okay. They even started planning on how they would divide Norah's fortune.

"I believe the police will come here anytime."

"What?! How could you do this to me? After all this time and all that I did for you?"

"…" Really? She never worked a day in her entire life. She even dared to hire other people to do her work. The former Norah knew about it but she was more worried about her health and writing than dealing with those two women.

Not long after, three officers appeared at her door and took out the crying assistant to the colorful police car.

<Congratulations host. You gained 50 points.>

"Great, this skill is amazing!"

She returned to her list of food when a notification came from her phone.

"What is this?"

<Host, before Norah died, she signed a contract for a movie script with a big company in the Capital. You cannot turn that down.>

"What?! Can't I just write that it got canceled?"

She started writing but nothing happened.

<Host, I believe the contract has something to do with a mission. You can't interfere with the missions' flow.>

Tch…

"How many points?"

<Host, you must move there to read the mission data.>

"Tch…"

She looked at the delicious food on the table with a nostalgic look.

*****

In a big and luxurious mansion in White City, a middle-aged woman was throwing furiously several flower vases and destroying the furniture inside. The maids and guards standing near her were waiting for her to stop her tantrum.

"Didn't she die? How come is she coming back? Where is Kendra?!"

"Madam, she was detained by the police."

"What?!"

"And… "

The woman speaking was the housekeeper of the Mansion and the closest servant of the middle-aged woman.

"Speak!"

"Some lawyers came this morning with several officials. They gave us these papers for you to read. They said you have three hours to leave the house or you will be detained."

"What?!

"Madam, you have only two hours left."

The namely middle-aged woman was the aunt of the deceased Norah, Julia Porter. She was stunned at the housekeeper's words. Her supposedly dying niece suddenly said she wanted to come back from her long-term trip and that she decided to consult a lawyers' firm to check all her accounts without informing her.

She was in a gathering inside the club when the police entered and took her to the station. It was so humiliating. Then many reporters took her photos and the web and the tv news were plagued with her face accusing her of fraud.

She paid the bail with her secret stash of money as her accounts were frozen by the judge, then she returned to her house but now, she didn't even have a home.

"I won't go away until that ungrateful slut come here!"

"Then, I should not let you wait."

The tranquil voice of Norah echoed in the room.

"You!"

Norah was walking towards her aunt with several officers behind her, ready to take her.

"Get away this instant or these officers here will help you out, and don't even try to come back here. As of today, this place is already on sale."

She smirked at the stunned face of her aunt. Then turned to look at the shocked faces of the employees.

"You all are fired. My assistant will give you your compensation."

Their faces went pale that instant. They were people hired by the housekeeper that is why they were never obedient or respectful towards the young lady even though she was the real owner of the house.

"Oh, right! Mrs. Porter, please never look for me again, or I will press more charges against you for stalking. Feel grateful that I am not sending you to jail now."

The middle-aged woman was pale without words, her hands shaking and her legs could only make her kneel on the floor after losing everything.

Norah turned around and walked away without sparing her another gaze. Then several workers entered the house carrying the furniture into big trucks, leaving the house empty in a matter of minutes.

<Great Host, you have gained another 50 points!>

'Excellent! This is easier than I thought. This magic touch is truly useful!"

<Host… you should not rely too much on it.>

'Why not?'

<Because the time to use it is only for an hour each time and there could be missions where you can't use it.>

'I know… sighs… well where is the next mission?'

<Capital City.>

'Alright! Let's go.'
