3 Chapter 2- the sorting and lessons

Sandras POV

When I finished putting my robes on I went for a walk around the train, I saw a raven haired boy and a red headed boy, there was a girl with bushy hair and so I decided to say hello. I knocked on they door and they told my to come in.

"hello I'm Sandra Bradley, I wanted to introduce myself, you all seem like very nice and amazing people!" I said politely. They all smiled at me. The girl put her hand out and I shook it. She looked like a nice person.

"Hermione Granger" She said kindly. I smiled at her and she did the same. I looked to the raven haired boy and shook his hand.

"Harry Potter, nice to meet you!" He exclaimed- wait? HARRY POTTER HES THE BOY WHO LIVED‼ My jaw dropped and he softly laughed at my face. I smiled and apologised. I turned to the other boy.

"Ron Weasley!" He said mouth full. I laughed to myself since he reminded me of Vincent and Gregory. I smiled and we talked for a bit before I stood.

" Well I should get going! My friends will be worrying now, it was a pleasure to meet you all! I hope we can be friends no matter the house." I said. They all nodded and smiled. I waved them goodbye and went back to the others. When I entered they all started shouting at me asking where I have been and how I scared them half to death since they worried so much. I laughed and sat down.

"Calm down! I went for a walk!" I said they all sat down. We started talking and by the time we finished talking we were at Hogwarts.

"fi'st ye'rs th's wa'! Cmon!" A large man said. Me, Draco and Blaise got into the same one.

"What house do you guys want to be in?" Draco asked. I thought about it, even if my family were all in Slytherin and I probably will to but I'm not sure if I would prefer to be in another house. I want to be in whatever house Blaise, Draco, Vincent and Gregory are in together. But then there are Hermione, Ron and Harry.. but I'm closer with the boys here. I didn't realise I was zoned out until I could feel Draco gently shaking my shoulders and calling my name. "Sandra? Sandra!"

"Oh, yes?" I hummed yes in response. Blaise looked at me concerned and Draco looked worried.

" You alright you zoned off.. we were just saying we wanted to be in Slytherin because of our families. How about you?" He explained. I said how I didn't mind and as I was with my friends AKA them. They smiled at my comment and I smiled back. We talked about the lessons we were most excited for and then about 15 minutes later we arrived at the beautiful castle of Hogwarts!

"wow..." was all we managed to say. We walked inside the castle and were escorted to the doors of the great hall. We were stopped by professor McGonagall who started doing her speech.

"Welcome to Hogwarts first years! In a moment you will go into the Great Hall and sit with your peers and classmates, but before you do that you need to be sorted into your houses. There are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Your house will be like your family. For good work you will be rewarded points and for bad things you will be reduced with points. In the end of the year there will be a house cup to the house with the most points this is a great hono-" before she could finish a boy ran forward shouting 'Trevor' and took picked up the toad before apologising and going back into the crowd. McGonagall continued "we will be with you when we're ready for you" with that she walked inside the hall and we were waiting.

Suddenly, Draco moved from my side and to in front of Harry. I went up and stood next to Draco. I smiled at Harry and Ron and they returned it. Draco then spoke up.

"so it's true then, what they said in the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts" this made everyone go into whispers and muttering, he moved forward a bit more with Crabbe and Goyle by his side. "this is Crabbe and Goyle" he moved and stood above Harry in front of him. "And I'm Malfoy," he started "Draco Malfoy" he finished. The same thing he said to me, I managed to contain my laugh but Ronald didn't... he laughed and Draco's head shot towards him like a bullet. "think my name is funny do you?!" He spat "No need to ask yours-" i knew where this was going and I didn't like it, I also knew Draco had to do this to impress his father. "Red hair and a hand me down robe? You must be a Weasley!" He said Weasley like it was a poison.

"DRACO!" I shouted. I knew he was going to apologise later. "Don't be rude!" I scolded. He looked at me with a sincere look in his eyes showing me he didn't want to do this, and it broke my heart. he turned back to Harry. "You see potter, you will find some-" he glanced at Ron "- wizarding families are better than other, you don't want to go making friends with the wrong type." He said putting his hand out for Harry to shake "i think I can tell the wrong sort for myself thanks" Harry replied as politely as possible. Draco looked "mad" but I knew he was glad that Ron had a friend. Before he could reply Minerva came and tapped Draco on the back with a scroll or parchment. Draco walked back to me and gave me an apologetic smile before whispering in my ear.

" I'm sorry I really didn't want to-" he started but I cut him off. "It's okay. I know how you feel." I told him with a smile. He sighed in relief.

"alright come on! We are ready for you!" She said. I looked at Draco and Blaise before walking in. I was looking at the ceiling, it was bewitched to look like the sky, I read it on Hogwarts, A History guide.

"It's bewitched, I read it-" Hermione started, I looked at her smiled and finished her sentence with her "Hogwarts, a history guide" she looked at me happy that she wasn't the only one who read it.

"Hermione?" I asked "Yes Sandra?" She replied. "Can we be girl best friends no matter what house?" I asked and looked at her. She looked on the verge of tears. "Yes I would love to" she said smiling. I smiled back. We looped arms and walked to the front.

"before we begin Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few things" she announced. The headmaster stood and walked to the podium. "thank you professor McGonagall, I would like to tell you and remind you that the forbidden forest is forbidden to all students. Our caretaker mr. Filch has asked me to tell you that everyone is to stay away from the left door on the third floor corridor unless they wish to die a very painful death, thank you!" He said and sat down like he didn't just say we could die. The sorting hat began to sort people, Blaise and Draco got into Slytherin with Crabbe and Goyle while Ron, Hermione and Harry got into Gryffindor. I zoned out until my name was called.

"Sandra Bradley!" Deputy headmistress called. I walked up and sat on the stool. The hat sat on my head and started talking.

"hmmmm you are smart like a ravenclaw, brave like a Gryffindor, kind like a Hufflepuff and cunning like a Slytherin. But it's all here yes... your ambitious and will do anything to achieve your goals. Yes-" my Slytherin friends looked at me hopeful and so did the trio. "-sorry Gryffindor but that better be SLYTHERIN!" It shouted. The green table rose and cheered for me. I smiled and walked over to my best friends. Blaise and Draco got up and hugged me which I gladly gave back.

"we all got Slytherin! we are all together like you wanted san!" Draco exclaimed. I raised my brows at him. "what? why are you looking at me like that?" he asked, confused. Blaise and I laughed at his face.

" 'san'? where did you get that from Dray?" i asked. I then realised what i said and just played it cool acting like i meant it. Dray- i meant Draco said that he just took the end letters off my name and now that's my nickname.

"Yeah I'm gonna call you that too now san" Blaise agreed with Draco.

" ok then I'm going to call Draco 'dray' and for you I'm going to call you amigo because why not, i can't make your name shorter." i said to Blaise. he simply shook his head and smiled. Dray smiled and so did i. A few conversations later it was time to go to our common room! i was very excited.

"ok girls and boys, our common room is in the dungeons also to get in there is a password, without it you cant get in. Is that understood?" our prefect questioned, we all nodded, so he proceeded " the password ,for now, is pure-blood " he finished. We walked inside the room and my eyes widened and my jaw dropped, literally. There was a green fire-place and two couches near it. Nearly everything was green. Since we were kind of below the school the windows showed the Black Lake and the creatures.

" close your mouth san, flies might get into your throat." Draco teases closing my mouth. I playfully shoved him and we both shared a laugh. " can you guys shut up I'm trying to listen!" Blaise hissed. Everyone was quite far from me seeing i had a snake around my neck.

"he wont bite!" everyone calmed down. "unless i ask it to" i finished. everyone looked and me terrified while Blaise and Draco laughed knowing i wouldn't, but i would. "Oh but I would you two" I said with a spine chilling smirk. Both of them stopped laughing and looked terrified. I chucked at the sight at looked back to the front.

"Boys dorms are on the left of the stairs, girls yours is the same but the right side. Your things are already in there. Go on!" the prefect said. I made my way to my dorm and saw there was a girl my age and so i went to introduce myself. She had beautiful curly long black hair and blue eyes. She also had the prettiest body i have seen.

"hello! I'm Sandra, nice to meet you." I introduced. She looked into my eyes and smiled. " I'm Helen Slander and the pleasure is mine." She replied. (Tehe remember that surname for 3rd year...) I really hoped i could make some friends from my own house. "would you like to be friends Helen?" I asked. She looked surprised.  "why do you want to be friends with me?" She asked, I thought she didn't want to be friends with me but now i realised she might be shy/ insecure for making friends. I smiled and told her she looked like a nice person.

" I would love to Sandra  Now let's unpack and get to sleep,  tomorrow we have transfiguration first thing. I'm quite excited for flying class!" She explained. "I am excited for potions and charms"we went to sleep. I then fell into a dreamless sleep.

The morning i woke i put on my white shirt and skirt with some tights. I put my brown hair in a high ponytail and put on some boots with a necklace and bracelet. I put on my Slytherin tie and robes.

Once I checked my self i grabbed my wand and equipment and left the room to the great hall. When I arrived i sat in-front of Blaise while Draco was on my left while Helen was on my right.

"morning.." i said groggily, grabbing a piece of bacon from Draco plate. I really hated mornings. 'Morning'  they all chorused back.

"sleep well sans?" Draco asked giving me a piece of toast and pumpkin juice. "yes. Oh thanks dray." I replied eating the things he gave me. "no problem" . Me, Helen and the boys talked for a while.

"we have transfiguration a few minutes so come on lets go!" Blaise shouted so we all got our bags and made our way to the classroom. When we got there me and Helen sat at the front together while Blaise and Draco sat on the table next to us. I already knew the cat on the table was McGonagall in her form so I nodded at her and she nodded back.

"Why the bloody hell are you nodding at a cat? Do you feel alright? Are you I'll?" Helen asked me confused and worried. When she said that Blaise and Draco turned our way. "Helen who's ill?" Blaise asked, Draco looked at me, got up from his seat and walked over to me and put his hand on my forehead to check my temperature "you feeling ok?" He asked, I nodded and smiled and he smiled back. Helen looked between us and when he walked away she smirked. I already knew what she was thinking so I shaked my head and glared at her. Then Harry and Ron ran through the door, late.

"Phew good we weren't late, imagine the look on old McGonagall if we were." Ron said out of breath. My eyes widened and I shook my head at them. They looked at me confused but it was too late, McGonagall jumped of her desk and turned into a human in midair. Ron's eyes widened and Harry's jaw dropped. I stifled my laugh.

"THAT WAS BLOODY BRILLIANT!" Ron exclaimed. "thank you for that assessment Mr. Weasley maybe if I were to transfigure one of you into a watch you may make it to class on time." She said sarcasm dripping from the words. Clearly they didn't catch on because then Harry said, "we got lost professor" Minerva then smiled and said "a map then? I see you don't have to find your seats?" She said, god she was my favourite teacher now. I laughed under my breath. They took their seats and the lesson began.

We were heading to potions class were I sat next to Draco. I had my chin on my hand and was about to fall asleep until the doors opened and banged close which made my eyes flash before my eyes. Professor Snape walked through the classroom to the front his robes following behind him.

"There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class. As such I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art dispersion that is potion making however for those selected few who possess the predisposition-" he looked me and Draco's way "-I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses, I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death. Then again maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to. Not. Pay. Attention!" I saw Harry writing something and so did Severus. He shouted glaring at Harry.

Hermione nudged him and he looked up at Snape. "Tell me what would I get if I added powered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Hermione's hand shot up like a rocket while Harry just shaked his head. "You don't know well let's try again, where Mr Potter would you look at if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" "I don't know sir" "And what is the difference between monkshood and wolfbane?" "I don't know sir" "Pity, clearly fame isn't everything is it, Mr Potter" "Clearly Hermione knows seems a pity not to ask her" Harry resorts back at the Professor as he gestures to Hermione who still has her hand up from the first question I try not to snicker a laugh by pressing my lips together and onto the back of my hand but end up letting out a silent laughter   "Silence" Snape doesn't look happy and walks over to where Harry is "Put your hand down you silly girl" he says to Hermione. This made me mad, how dare he talk to Hermione like that.  I glared at him so he looked my way.

"Ah! Miss Bradley would you care to answer?" He sneered thinking i didn't know. Draco looked at Snape in a way that said 'BIG mistake' i smirked and started. "asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful it has known as the drought of the Living Dead. A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfbane they are the same plant which also goes by the name acolyte" I answered. He then clapped and said "correct, why aren't you writing this down?!" He asks the class impatiently.
