June 23rd - Morning - New Day, New Changes

By the time I became sensible again, the sun had finally climbed all the way over the horizon. I wiped my wet cheeks and forced myself to my feet.

Crying wouldn't help me; what would help me, was going to the Adventurer's Guild training grounds and fighting monster for experience points. I felt a pang through my chest as I realized that Kane wouldn't be with Lord Glade and I this morning as we fought. However, there was nothing I could do about that. The only thing I could do right now was to train.

With that last desperate thought in mind, I returned to the Palace. I went back to my rooms, showered, and changed, ready to start a new day. Then, I headed to our usual meeting place, the breakfast parlor.

I opened the door to the room and saw that it was empty. This was not surprising considering that I was still twenty minutes early. I helped myself to a light breakfast from the sideboard and asked a servant to fetch me tea. Then I sat and waited for Lord Glade.
