7 The Deal

"How long have you known Mr Brady and how long have you been seeing him?" Freya asked Cathy whilst sitting on the couch with Gwen as Cathy was sitting opposite them on the recliner.

"I have known him for three years now, and I started seeing him over a year ago." Gwen wrote down the information on her pad.

"Where were you at the time of his death?"

"I was at home, doing some office work."

"Can your neighbors prove that?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you stop seeing Mr Brady even after knowing he was married?"

"I was in love with him." Cathy's eyes filled with tears and she grabbed some tissues on the table that was in the middle of the room to dab her face with.

"You loved him, but did he love you? He kept you on the sidelines." Cathy couldn't answer Gwen, she only continued crying.

.

Freya rang Clara Wilde's doorbell and waited for her to answer. She had come at the day and time they gave her, two days after her visit from Dr. David at 7pm. She has noticed his car in the driveway where she had parked her car and anticipated what was going to happen.

"Hello Freya, I'm glad that you could make it." Clara answered the door and ushered her in. She was dressed fashionably as always in a blue gown.

"Great." Freya uttered that one word because she didn't know if she was going to be glad or not after knowing why they wanted to meet her.

Clara led her into her living room where Dr. David was sat on one of her couches. Freya sat opposite Dr. David on another couch and Clara sat on a recliner close to Dr. David. He was wearing a black hoodie and black jeans. His face featured a cold expression and he barely glanced at Freya when she came in.

"I know you are wondering why we called you here, it's not something complicated, but rather simple." Clara spoke in an intense voice as she stared at Freya.

"I hope it's not beyond my capabilities."

"Trust me, it won't be. Sam here has told me about how you broke into his house and even into his basement." Clara said in a cunning voice while gesturing to Dr. David.

"What proof does he have?" Freya asked calmly.

"Oh, we have proof. Check the folder that's on the table." Clara answered her referring to the table which was in the middle of the room.

Freya picked up the brown folder and pulled out its contents. They were pictures of her using her bobby pin to break into Dr. David's house and pictures of her in the house through the window. It seems that there were cameras on their streets that she was not aware of when she broke into his house.

She was shocked that they had her captured on camera, she didn't know what to say and prepared herself for anything worse to come.

"You can now see that we have proof of you breaking into my house and I know that you saw those people in the basement, Freya." Dr. David told Freya in a hateful voice watching her carefully.

"I saw them, but did I tell anyone? No." Freya lied for Salma's sake, she didn't want her getting involved in this mess.

"That's exactly what we want to discuss with you today. We want to make a deal with you just like we did with that Mr Othman and a few others that saw too much." Clara told Freya.

"We want you to keep quiet on what you saw and forget it all happened, and we will give you whatever you want, money, a higher job position, you name it."

"Why should I agree to this?" Freya asked defiantly and folded her arms across her chest.

"If you don't agree, you should know what will happen to you." Dr. David threatened her in a low sinister voice while also crossing his arms across his chest.

"Hush Sam, we don't have to go there. Freya is a brilliant girl and I am sure she will agree." Clara calmed Dr. David down.

"This is sudden and I will have to think it through." Freya told them and stood from the couch preparing to leave.

"Don't take too long, we will be waiting for your reply." Clara said still sitting down, not caring to walk her out.

Dr. David's glare followed Freya out the door.

Freya called Salma on her phone as soon as she reached home. She was sitting on her bed in her bedroom in the same cream dress and leather jacket with green scarf that she went out with.

"Hello? Freya, are you back already?" Salma asked as she answered the phone.

"Yes, I just came in."

"How did it go? Did they try doing anything to you?" Salma asked in a worried tone.

"They have proof that I broke into Dr. David's house and they know that I saw those people that were in the cages. They want me to keep quiet and offered me money or anything that I want in return."

"Oh god!" Salma said in a gasp. "How can they live like this, torturing people. What are going to do? Are you going to accept their offer?"

"I don't know, I told them I will think about it even though I don't want to keep quiet. Salma, I want to help those people and save others from getting in their position."

"We will think of a way that won't result in them killing or torturing you. Don't worry about it now, just find something to eat and get some sleep." Salma comforted her.

"Okay, thanks for being here for me." Freya sighed and rubbed her temples with the hand that wasn't holding her phone.

"By the way, what's going on between you and Luke? Last time, you told me he collected your number."

"Yes, we're actually going out this Saturday, not as a couple yet, but to get to know each other." Freya told Salma in a lighter voice starting to forget the events that happened earlier that night.

"That's great Freya, it's about time you actually loosened up and let someone into your heart."
