3 Talk with Grandpa

"Good boy, come to grandpa," Papa Lin said as he looked at Lin Jingli with love in his eyes.

This was the first time he saw his grandchild, and he could not help but feel full of tender affection.

Lin Jingli was adorable and reasonable. He went to Papa Lin's side and said cutely, "Hello Grandpa."

"Good, good, good!" Papa Lin was very excited to see him being so obedient, and he patted the couch by his side. "Come and sit down," he said. "Let us have a good talk."

Lin Jingli was eager to do just that. His mother, Lin Meixing, and his grandmother, Mamma Lin, were both in the kitchen preparing a meal for them. They would not be able to hear what was being said in the sitting room, so Lin Jingli decided to fish for information about his father.

"Grandpa, everyone has a daddy apart from me. Do you know who my daddy is?" Lin Jingli looked at his grandfather with adorable eyes, and Papa Lin sighed deeply.

"Don't talk about him," he said unhappily, but Lin Jingli was not going to give up just like that.

"Why not?" he asked. "Why don't I have a daddy? Mommy said that daddy has some responsibility for his family, and can't take care of us, but does daddy not want us? Who is my daddy?"

The more Lin Jingli asked, the worse Papa Lin felt, and he eventually sighed and shook his head.

"Listen, child; it is not that you have no daddy, but your daddy has abandoned you. When your mother was pregnant, he promised to look after the two of you but later, he abandoned you. He has not done anything a parent should do. Apart from donating some cells to you, he has done absolutely nothing.

"He promised to protect you both, but when your mother needed him the most, he ignored her. Eventually, she was forced to leave the country, or it would be a question of life and death."

Lin Jingli listened intently. He was shocked when he heard what his grandfather was telling him.

Lin Meixing had never said anything bad about his father, so Lin Jingli was not biased against him, but after hearing what his grandfather said, he could not help but frown. Was his father a scum who had hurt his mother before?

"Lin Jingli, listen to me," his grandfather said thoughtfully as he looked at the small boy in front of him. "I understand that you want a father, but your father has hurt your mother so much that she cannot get over it. If she could, she would have found you a new dad during the past four years, but she hasn't.

"Please don't mention your daddy in front of your mother. She already feels hurt and sad because of him, and if you ask about him, she will just feel guilty as well. She can not give you what you want. She cannot give you a complete family."

Lin Jingli was aware that his mother would never say anything bad about his dad to him since it was his dad. But perhaps the pain she had experienced was so rooted in her heart that she could not let go.

Thinking like this, he began reflecting on himself. Although he was merely four years old, he was much smarter than other kids at that age. He was able to understand many things that others did not understand.

His mother was never going to let him suffer. She would rather harm herself than let him suffer even the slightest injustice.

"Don't worry, Grandpa," Lin Jingli finally said, his eyes solemn. "I will not need a daddy any longer; all I need is to always be together with Mommy."

Papa Lin looked at the small child and felt that he was very mature, and he was pleased. "It is good as long as you love your mother, just try not to open the wounds in her heart."

Papa Lin knew that the subject he had spoken about was very heavy for a small child, but he also understood that Lin Jingli was likely to have asked questions that would have hurt his daughter throughout the years. He could not bear to see his daughter hurt like that, so he wanted to see if he could talk with Lin Jingli about this subject, and make him give up on having a father.

"But can you tell me who my father is? I would like to know," Lin Jingli finally said, a flash of maliciousness passing by his eyes as he thought of the one who had bullied his mother. That was not allowed!

Looking at the child, Papa Lin decided to tell him. He was a child, after all, so having a father figure was a good idea. "His name is Xu Jingchen. He is the newly appointed CEO of the Jingyue Corporation."

Lin Jingli narrowed his eyes and etched the name into his mind. He had heard about the Jingyue Corporation before, but he was still a child, so he was not aware of the current state of affairs in the business world. He was too busy trying to learn as much of the curriculum that ten to fifteen-year-old children were learning in school.

Lin Jingli had a phone, and it had access to the internet. He was eager to be put to sleep that night so that he could search for his father online.

Unknown to Papa Lin, Lin Jingli was not going to let his father get away with bullying his mother. He was going to return the favor many times over, and he was going to make sure that his mother walked out from within her sadness, and maybe find him another daddy.
