5 Getting a Job

The following day, Lin Meixing had read up on all the preschools in the neighborhood. There were many, and while she was unable to afford the one for the children of affluent families, she could still afford a traditional preschool of decent quality.

As she took Lin Jingli's hand, the two of them began moving towards the preschool. They were laughing and having fun along the way. Everyone who saw them could see that it was a loving mother and her son, but many took an extra look, and some even had disdain in their eyes when they saw how young the mother was.

While they were walking down the street, a car came driving down the road, and inside was Assistant Lei, Xu Jingchen's assistant.

Looking at the small child and the happy mother at the side of the road, Assistant Lei was waiting for the red light to change, he could not help but frown. That child resembled his boss so much that it was shocking.

But when he remembered how his boss refused all women, and would never give in to even his mother's pleas of finding a girlfriend, he was sure that this was merely a coincidence.

The light turned green, and he hurried away in the car, while Lin Meixing and Lin Jingli smilingly arrived at the preschool.

The school was built around ten years ago, it was spacious, and there were playgrounds outside for the kids to play during the day. The facilities were all good, and the teachers were known to be understanding and good at handling the children.

Lin Jingli looked around and smiled sweetly, his appearance was so adorable that the adults in the school all took a liking to him. He was so handsome already; they could not imagine just how beautiful he would become when he grew up!

"Miss Lin, let us take Lin Jingli out to play on the playground while you sign the papers."

Nodding her head, Lin Meixing told Lin Jingli to follow the teacher, and the secretary who had shown her around took her to the office where she quickly signed the signup form and the papers that had to do with transferring to the school.

Everyone knew that Lin Meixing was a single mother, but they did not look down upon her. Her son was so polite and sweet, he was doing what he was told, and did not kick a fuss, even when his mother left to sign the papers. It was clear that he was an adorable child. She had raised him well.

Lin Meixing was also relieved when she saw that they were polite to her, even though she was a single mother, and she smiled gently at the secretary.

After finishing up the signup procedure, she was told that he could begin the following Monday.

The secretary then led her back to the playground, where she saw that her little baby was playing with a girl in the sandbox.

Although he did not seem immensely happy and satisfied, he was patient, and was building a massive sandcastle for the girl, making her clap her hands in excitement.

Lin Jingli had never before played with a child, so the fact that he could play this well was quite surprising, and tears welled up in Lin Meixing's eyes as she observed it. it, but she quickly pushed the tears down, took a deep breath, and when Lin Jingli was finished with the sandcastle, she went to pick him up.

The little girl was upset, but after hearing that Lin Jingli was going to be attending their preschool with her in the future, she felt much happier. Together the mother and son left the school grounds, and began moving home.

As they arrived home, Lin Meixing played and taught Lin Jingli for a bit before she sat in front of her laptop. Here, she began tidying up her resume, and sent it out to various companies in an attempt at looking for a job.

She sent the application to almost every company, apart from the one belonging to Xu Jingchen. She did not want to have anything to do with him.

After a few days, she was invited to a few job interviews, and she was excited. She hurriedly scheduled them. The following Tuesday, after dropping Lin Jingli at the preschool, she went to the first of the many interviews.

The company was a design studio that she heard that it had an excellent reputation, and she was excited about going there.

As she arrived, she was quickly sent to the meeting room, and here she behaved like a professional as she showed her resume and her portfolio. The president was present, and even he was very satisfied with her.

After an hour interview, the results were that they would instantly hire her. Lin Meixing was relieved and happy. She smiled brightly as she went to sign the employment contract.

Everything was finally going as she had wanted. She had a job, and she would be able to keep providing for her son and parents. A warm fuzzy feeling erupted in her heart as she was reminded of her son, who was so adorable.

As she was about to leave, she had also greeted the ones who were to be her coworkers, and all of them were polite and friendly; it seemed that there was no hostile competition in this work environment.

Just as she was about to leave, she turned around a corner and bumped into a tall and sturdy figure.

Lin Meixing, who was wearing high heels, slipped on the floor, and just as she was about to fall, a strong arm reached out, grabbed her around the waist, and pulled her into an embrace.
