6 Chapter 6

Last time on Falling Divinity...

Junkook had arrived at Taehyung's restaurant after he was asked to help him with a customer. Junkook had arrived to see the restaurant posh and clean. While he took everything in, an elderly man in a traditional kimono asked him where the owner of the place - Taehyung - was. Frustratedly, he looked around until he found him and politely escorted the gentleman to him.

Once Taehyung saw the man he bowed and indicated for Junkook to do the same. The elderly man told them they don't need to act so formal and hoped that Junkook has success in the future. Finally, he told Junkook and Taehyung that he has an important question to ask of them.

Currently...

I stand, watching the Director, as he's about to give me and Taehyung the important question he has got in his mind.

"No need to look so stiff gentleman." The Director reassures us.

"It's a simple question really. I just want to know what are your future plans after the companies close?"

Simple? This is the most difficult question I could be asked right now. You see, I haven't really thought about the future of the company...or after it close? What does he mean by that?

"Excuse me Director, but what do you mean by-"

"After the companies close? I knew you'd be stuck on that particular part. Actually, if you look at all the Future and Technology news on the Internet now-a-days you will see researchers say that in a couple years time you young gentleman won't be needed in these businesses of yours.

The world is changing and so is how advanced the technology systems are getting. We're all going to be replaced one day or another and I want to know that you have a Plan B when the time comes." The Director explains.

As crazy as it sounds he's right. Technology and robots are a growing aspect of their own, we won't be able to stop them from taking over since humankind has already started their work into them.

"I'm not sure." Taehyung says out of the blue.

The Director nods at Taehyung understandingly before facing my direction.

I reach inside my mind for possible answers to the Director's question. What would I like to do other than run Seoul Star Company? Rummaging in my mind has not given me a solution suitable enough to state out.

"I, too, do not know." I respond.

With both answers given by the two people in front of him, the Director smiles kindly and hands us both a card with some writing on it.

"If you boys aren't busy tonight at 7 PM then come dressed in your casual clothes at this address."

Taehyung and I both take the identical mini cards simultaneously with both hands and look at the contents of the card. Only 5 lines are distinguishable in sight: The Director's name, Phone Number and Address.

"Uh..." Taehyung taps my shoulder softly.

I glance to his direction and find that his non-dominant hand is pointing at where the Director is. I look to the Director and see a faint trace of what was there.

Huh? Where's the Director? Was I hallucinating? No. Taehyung saw him too. Unless the Director is really fast at disappearing and leaving us completely clueless.

"Hey." Taehyung speaks again.

"Are we going to tonight?"

"If you're not too busy I can go. I'll be finished by 6 PM as usual." I reply.

"Alright then. I guess we'll head over together. My friend will take over my management for the evening shift." Taehyung says this as he stares off to space, probably thinking what the Director needs us for.

"Ok. I'll be going now. Oh, was this the customer you needed help with?" I ask.

"Uh, no." Taehyung leaps out of his trance and skips back to reality.

"Come with me." He indicates.

I follow him warily. I was going to be relieved if the Director was the customer but, I guess, life isn't like that; at times it can be just like a Drama.

We walk past the many tables filled with succulent steaks, crispy cool potatoes and fresh salad as well as the hot and spicy kimchi and ramyun soups and the many specialized desserts towards a narrow hallway with a well know V.I.P-like red carpet with hanging pictures of the restaurant's achievements and top cooks. Then, we go round a corner and up the mahogany stairs to another hallway. Finally, we reach our destination at a door which has a label with 'Prioritized Personnel Only' as the heading.

Taehyung breathes and I know it is not a I-know-what-I-am-doing-or-going-to-say breath. It's that same breath. It's that same breath I had when I was going to meet Taehyung for the first time - Anxiety.

After some time of courage-building, he opens the door to reveal the person that I did not think I'll see again.
