3 Chapter 3

It's another peaceful day at Seoul Star Company...well, actually, I've lied. It's a total mess. Clients are complaining with papers hanging from their hands, employees are urgently trying to deal with their problems, other people are frantically running up and down, sorting out the systems and I'm just standing here, with a cup in one hand and a briefcase in another. Don't worry, I don't have any coffee in the cup – just tea – yet I think I should have brought some with me.

I know what this scene means. There has been another security breach. We don't get it often but when we do it's a totally different atmosphere. Just think of a world domination from an alien attack – that's what the scene looks like.

"Sir. The level of threat is higher than last time. What are we going to do?" An employee of mine informs me.

"What effect has the attack made?" I say.

"Data from clients has been lost and some of the functions for our systems aren't working as we want them to."

"Have you checked the backup drive and called Namjoon?" I say calmly.

"Ah...no sir. I shall do that straight away." The employee goes off to complete the tasks that I've instructed them to do.

As always, everything will go back to normal when we get the backup drive sorted and Namjoon comes here. You must be wondering why we need a guy named Namjoon to come help us? Well, Namjoon is our 'tech guy'. He comes in whenever we need his expertise in the technology department. He's the only person whom we can call to do the job well, every single time. To be honest, I've known Namjoon since the first day I started work. At that time, I was taking over the previous Manager of SSC and I had just come into work with not a suit nor a cup of tea but a tracksuit.

I was actually running that morning when I got the call that I was starting work. I couldn't go back to my apartment because it was at least half an hour away so I went in with a tracksuit and a bottle of water in hand.

Upon the first step inside SSC, I got stopped by guards. They eyed me with an apparent higher authority than me and placed me outside, outside my destination.

"What business do you have here?" one of the guards asked.

"I'm here to see Kang Pil-Joo, the Manager, about starting work today." I said, not knowing why SSC had guards.

"Alright. Go in." the other guard said after glancing to the other.

I walked in quickly as not to get stopped again by the guards. I turned my vision to the reception desk and sped up towards it.

"Hello. I'm Jeon Junkook and I'm here to start m work in SSC." I told the receptionist kindly.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Jeon. Do you know where your work will be? In which floor or department?"

"Yes. It's...the top floor." I fibbed, hoping I wouldn't get fired because I gave the wrong floor.

"Hey, why don't I take him up?" a voice said.

I turned around and found the owner of the voice. It was a man, with black, slightly spiky hair, some glasses, a suit and a folder tucked under his arm.

"Mr. Kim, are you sure you're not busy?" The receptionist asked.

"I'm not overly busy so I can spare a few minutes showing a new person to their place." The person, known as Mr. Kim, replied.

I followed the guy slowly towards the elevator. The doors opened and we got inside.

"So what's your name?"

"Me?" I said, looking at the elevator as if there was another person there.

"Yes you." Mr. Kim smiled.

"I'm Jeon Junkook." I replied.

"Nice to meet you Jeon Junkook. I'm Kim Namjoon, the technology surveillance guy of Seoul Star Company." The guy introduced.

"What job are you going to work in?"

"I'm going to be the Manager..." I sheepishly muttered.

Silence.

"WOAW!" Namjoon shouted.

"That's amazing, Junkook! I'm really happy for you. Congrats!" He cheered for me.

I laughed nervously.

"Thank you." I said.

The doors of the elevator slid open simultaneously to reveal the top floor. A spectacular floor shone beneath us and the view was covered with magnificent flowers in pots and decorated with various furniture made probably in China.

"That's your stop." Namjoon said.

"Um, thank you again." I muttered while placing a feeble hand forward in order to receive a handshake.

"You welcome, sir." Namjoon winked while shaking my hand politely.

When finished, I walked out the elevator and stood there as I saw the doors seep close on Kim Namjoon. I knew it wouldn't be the last time I saw him.

"Sir? Sir. Mr. Jeon" A voice says.

I glance to the person and find my employee standing there.

"What is it, Sunji?" I say.

"He's here." She points to the entrance of the building.

I look to where she's pointing and smile.

"It's been 3 months since I last saw you, Namjoon."
