Chapter 1

Liam's pov

"Yahh", I yawned....it was a hot Monday afternoon, I was sitting in my classroom too irritated by the monotonous history lecture.

Miss Joey wrote some important World War 1 dates on the board and she began explaining the events that occurred on those particular dates.

All I could make out was Austria and Hungary, the countries which were the main cause of World War 1.

But who cares, why would I even bother to learn about something which began and finished a century ago ...

"Huh!!".

I looked out of the window, the rays of the sunlight acted like armor obstructing my view from those little kids who were playing in the swimming pool, enjoying their goodly time, they weren't bothered about anything, the anxiety of failing in exams, the one-hour unwelcomed lecture from parents or the fear of being rejected by the school's most popular girl.

According to me, these kids were the people living their finest lives on earth and I was so envious of them. I wanted to just spank them hard and throw myself in that swimming pool and relax. Life had been so harder since I grew up..."Oh god Why did I even Grow", I muttered to myself...All the chaos in my head was messing with me and I hadn't noticed that Miss Joey had her sharp eyes piercing holes on my face.

I suddenly saw a red thread fall from the sky and my eyes widened. I wasted no time and ran out of my class hastily, reaching the ground to pick that thread before anyone could steal it.

"Shit!! Why is it stuck on that tree?", I cursed under my breath and began kicking the tree thwarted. A clamorous blaze of breeze blew and the thread glided with the wind.

I chased the thread and jumped a little.

"Gotch-ya", I shouted, Bravo!! all eyes were on me,

Those little kids and the teachers were staring at me in disbelief, but why tho?

Then came Sam running by...

"Heya!!, Liam, Miss Joey is angry, you just suddenly ran out of the class, without informing, are you alright, did something happen?".

"Look, Sam, look this thread, I caught it, look", I showed him the thread with delight.

Sam made a weirdly annoyed face.

I heard some giggling sounds coming from above.

I raised my head at nighty degrees and saw all my classmates hanging from the glass windows chuckling and making fun of me.

Are these people fools?

Don't they know I caught a red thread today?

It's Precious...

I thought...

*Ting tong*, the clock struck 1:30 pm meaning it was dismissal...

I impatiently packed my bags and rushed out of the classroom to assemble up with my friends.

"Look I found this thread".

"And what's so special about it?", Sam asked confused.

"Why are you so pleased about a mere red thread, I can give you many from my father's textile factory Liam", Mia chuckled.

"It is import...impor.. important...", the words died in my mouth.

Why am I so enthusiastic to catch a red thread, it is just trash, why is it so important to me?

Several questions intruded my brain.

I was so eager to catch that red thread just a few minutes ago and now it looked like trash.

I strolled towards my house holding the thread.

I had earlier decided to throw it but my subconscious mind was not letting me do it.

Ultimately I brought it home, unable to find a suitable secure place I wrapped it around my wrist secured it.

I felt a sudden twitch in my body but ignored it, underlying it as a cause of dehydration.

Who knew that this thread has some other stories obscured for me...

Author's pov

A girl around seventeen years precipitously tied her hair in loose ponytails.

She clutched her bag and ran out of her house grabbing an apple from the fruit basket.

On reaching the school she occupied the front bench of the second row and sincerely sat there.

She was wearing a red and black check skirt with a grey shirt and red overcoat.

She wore a branded black watch on the right wrist while a red thread on the left one.

She had large and Bambi glistening round eyes, with a dark brown pupil, long thick eyelashes, and brown eyebrows.

Her brown orbs looked more attractive when she smiled. Her lips were always curved upwards uniting her apple cheeks with her eyes, giving the most sincere and cute smile ever but even that smile was accompanied by a tint of sadness ….her nose was big but well contoured and just fit for her square and chubby face….

She had the most adorable features ever….

But ultimately God does not grant everything to everyone and that poor girl was mute.

She couldn't speak, all she did was use sign language and convey her thoughts, but that didn't make her different from others…

She was the same as her classmates, she could listen and understand, she could read and write very well, she was a pro at playing Violen….

Scarlett, that was her name, just like her facade which was always tinted red.

*Hello*, she signed…

"Hey !!!", her best friend Emily, replied….

She was the only kid Scarlett had befriended in her fourteen years of schooling…

All the other kids mocked her or grimaced whenever she would try to start a conversation…

"Did you complete the English project?", Emily asked.

Scarlett nodded in a yes, indicating she had completed it.

Soon the teacher came into the class and she started collecting the projects.

TIME SKIP

Now it was recess, Scarlett and Emily were sitting at their favorite spot, under a tree.

"How about we go and watch a movie today?", asked Emily...

Scarlett quickly made a thumbs up, marking that she liked the idea.

"I have heard that we have a new cinema hall in block 102, we should traverse there and watch a movie, we even have a new shopping mall named

*SKY MALL*, we should go there and grab all our fav tee-s ", Emily exhilarated gave the idea …

*okay, we should do it* Scarlett gestured with her hands…

Emily understood and they both decided to meet at 4 in the evening.

Being together for more than 10 years Emily had learned sign language and it was easiest for her to converse with her best friend.

Scarlett only had faith in her best friend, she told every little secret to her…

No one could comprehend her better than her best friend….

On reaching her house she quietly sneaked inside.

"You are back ", came a loud piercing voice.

Scarlett flinched on this sudden yell.

She was in no mood to be yelled at or scolded by her foster mother today. She was in a good mood and her mother had all plans to spoil it.

She was terrified, but anyways turned towards her…

Her hands were clasped downwards, her fingers were fidgeting, because she knew what was coming next….

*Patt*, a loud noise echoed through the room, Five fingers were imprinted on Scarlett's face…

"This is for burning the pancakes in the morning…What did you think, we would just eat the burned cakes happily…", the older lady in her early forties shouted at the poor girl….

*No*, Scarlett nodded terrified….

"We disown you", the lady declared…

Scarlett's eyes widened, quickly tears started streaming down her face…

She started nodding her head in *No*…

She folded her hands and begged to let her stay in the house but guess everything was over….

"Go pack your things and get lost before I burn you alive", shouted the lady….

Scarlett hastily made her way to the top floor…

She went to where her things were placed and packed all of it….

"We don't have all day, make it fast and get out", the woman demanded…

Scarlett picked up a plastic piggy bank and started packing it with other stuff….

But the mother came running and nabbed it away from her hands …

"This will be our payment for keeping you, feeding you, and paying for your schooling, for fourteen years, now you may take the leave", said the woman ….

Scarlett left the house in fear and dismay…

Where should I go?

I don't have anywhere to live…I don't even have money….

Thousands of thoughts were brimming in her mind…

Then she decided to go to Emily's place….

Emily was shocked on seeing Scarlett with a suitcase…

But fate had something different for these two friends….

Scarlett peeped inside the house and saw that all the things were getting packed up, Emily's mother, father, and her younger brother were hastily collecting everything as if they were planning to go somewhere….

"Dad got shifted to New York and we have to shift with him, it's urgent …..I am sorry Scarlett, I have to leave you and go but I promise to stay in touch and you promise me the same", the best friend broke up in tears…

Scarlett decided not to tell Emily about her issues and cried with Emily …

The two friends cried on each other's shoulders for pretty some minutes and then they broke the hug…

Soon Scarlett bid goodbye to her friend forever and started walking…

She had no idea where she was going….

She looked nowhere, her eyes were lost and waterless, her steps were slow and aimless, she was in utter fright.

She had lost everything that day, her best friend, her only reason for happiness, a house, her so-called foster family and last a reason to be alive…..

She was desolated in this brutal merciless world, all alone to live and die ….

All her memories and life story started haunting her…

She had no memory of her real parents, she had no idea who they were, were they alive or dead ….

The oldest memory she had was being adopted by Mr. James and his family….
