What In The World Is She Doing?

"The lord!!"

She looked at them as if they were the ones crazy here as she stared at them and then laughed after a long pause tapping their shoulders.

"Now I get it! Is that a prank! Have you been hired by my friends to kidnap me at my graduation party?"

She asked, wriggling her brows as she laughed and tapped their shoulders again as if they were kids in front of her.

A petite woman tapping the shoulders of a muscular man almost double her size and treating them as jokes was a rare event. Many had already gathered from the banging of the door but now they were staring at them with confusion and fear thinking she had really gone crazy!

The man who was being petted was speechless too. But then a wild thought appeared in his mind. He blushed like a young maiden and coughed as he bent a bit to match her height.

"Umm, Mary…" he coughed to clear his throat, "could it be that you have gotten a liking to me and want to marry me?"

"....."

Though he was blushing so hard, she felt like she was burnt with lightning as her hands paused in mid-air and she took them back with the speed of lightning.

"Alright! What is happening here! This is not funny anymore." she shuddered at the thought of marrying this hulk at once and all her desire to have fun vanished in thin air.

The man felt more embarrassed when she did not nod her head and frowned at her.

"Meredith! I want you to pay the twelve gold coins you have taken from us or I will give you to the lord for trial. You know that they skin the thieves and change them into scarecrows! Right?" same warning again. She felt pissed at the man for speaking such nonsense and what did he say?

"Gold coins?" she asked back in confusion with a tilt of her head as she tried to make sense of this strange location.

She was sure that she had never been to such a place but for some reason, his warning and the view of this place looked familiar to her. Her eyes deepened when the man snorted.

"Are you playing dumb now? Did you forget that you have taken twelve gold coins from us last week and promised us to return them today! Now you are making excuses since you do not have the money, right?"

His voice turned chilly but it still did not ring her bell.

She pushed the man away as she walked towards the road with a strange look on her face.

"Hey! Are you trying to run away now?" he could not believe this! He was about to shout again when she paused and touched the ground.

With a strange look on her face, she was touching the mud as if she had seen mud for the first time in her life. Then she stood up and touched the faces of random people, that also men!!!!

Their faces turned aghast but she did not pay any attention to them as she kept on touching things with a look of amazement on her face confusing everyone there.

"What in the world is she doing?" asked a man as he touched his cheek where the young maiden had touched him. Her warmth was still lingering, making the old man blush and smile.

Men and women keep their distance in their village. It was the first time a maiden was touching men so bluntly and that was also a beautiful one. The girls felt envious and angered as they looked at her actions.

"She had lost her mind completely after her lover had left her!"

"Yes, I heard that too. She had taken the money for her marriage with Caleb but he ran away with all the money. A few of them even said that she had brought the poison yesterday. Could it be that she lost her mind but did not die?"

The whispers started to rise and be loud but nothing fell in her ears as she kept staring at the distance with shock, relief, joy, confusion, and in the end excitement.

"Aahhhhhhhhhh!" The loud shriek almost defeated everyone and their words when they looked at her.

She was full of joy and thrill as she jumped and clapped at her place.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! I am dreaming about my villain! My only villain. I am in the palace of Duke Cassian!" she mumbled with joy and disbelief.

When the men came back to her and held her both hands.

"Since you do not have money, we are taking you to work for us until we collect earnings equal to our money." and before she could shout or curse them, she was dragged by both of them with force.

"Wait! Where are you taking me!" she shouted, "hey! Do you think I am here to meet you? Ha! I am here to meet Cassian!" she hollered when they both looked at her with shock but then shook their heads thinking she had really lost her mind after the betrayal.

She kept shouting for hours but they kept taking her and only stopped in front of the bar. She looked at the place with joy and shock too. It was the bar where Cassian had beaten the goons only to ignore the woman too. How suave was he!

She did not wait for both of them to drag her in but ran inside willingly confusing them again.

"Looks like you liked the place where you are going to work. You will serve drinks here for years till we receive the amount equal to our gold coins."

"Ha! Just you wait! I will leave the moment Cassian will come."
