3 CHAPTER 3

Abby was home alone after the unexplainable tragic event that happened with her earlier. Before taking a holiday or bailing school, Abby would always inform Dory, but this time she hadn't even texted her or called her since morning. Dory was at school, waiting for Abby to come but she didn't appear. Dory expected Abby to be late again and went to class.

Abby's mind was spiralling with Vivian's conversation with papa Morgan. She wanted to know the secret they are keeping from her. After several thoughts, Abby decided to take a look in their closet. There was no one home., not even grandpa. Grandpa went out earlier and didn't come back. Abby went to her parent's room. Her parents' room is much bigger than Abby's room, with several windows. They have two cupboards in their rooms and one of them is continuously locked. Abby went through the first cupboard but found nothing but clothes and shoes. She then decided to open the second cupboard. She flipped the entire room upside down in search of the keys but had no luck in finding them. She sat down on the floor thinking of a way to pick the lock.

A few days ago in school, the fairy class teacher, miss Ginny, taught the class a cool magic trick. That class is all about survival, new tricks, and getting out of a messy situation. Miss Ginny is also one of the oldest families in town. She was amongst the early settlers of the town and hence was apart of the council but she left the council after her husband passed away. Miss Ginny's husband, Luca, was a respectable and known fairy of the town. He was a member of the council and did his best to protect and serve the fairies in the fairy world. He was well known for his honesty and loyalty towards his job. Mr. Luca had never hurt a soul in his life, he was very gentle and very calm even during panic times. Mr. Luca was very fat and chubby, he loved to eat and drink. He had this heart-warming smile that would cheer up anyone within seconds. The reason behind Mr. Luca's death is still a mystery. He went to work one day and never came back. And by work I mean, he went to the council office and never returned from there.

Fairies then started suspecting the town councils' action but papa Morgan assured the population that nothing was wrong and Mr. Luca died of old age. He was 700 years old on his death, so the reason was very believable. Shortly afterward, Miss Ginny pulled out of the council and became a Middleton school teacher. She has never spoken a word about the council or anyone ever since.

Miss Ginny knows many tricks, later that day in school she taught the young fairies how to use their magic as their guard and weapon. She is of a very illusionary personality. Although a human cannot enter the fairy world, Miss Ginny made sure that the young fairies were prepared if such a thing happened. She said that humans trap fairies with chains and locks so she showed the class how to use magic to free yourself from the chains. Basically, how to pick a lock.

Ginny used the lesson from that class to open the lock. She has never practiced any of the tricks taught in school by Miss Ginny because she thought that they were completely useless. Abby was attempting it for the very first time. She swirled her hand and her fingers in an odd way and blew fairy dust int to the lock.

"Come on work. Work please.", said Abby to herself. The magic didn't work on her first try, nor did it work in the second, the third, the fourth, or the fifth. Abby gave up and sat down on the floor with her back leaning towards the locked closet. She signed in disappointed and looked down when she noticed a little compartment under her parent's bed. She crawled her way under the bed and opened the little lid on the compartment, disguised as the floor.

She quickly removed the top and found a shoebox in it.

"What? A shoebox?", complained Abby. However, the box did not contain any shoes, it had a bunch of random stuff, papers, pictures, and souvenirs. Under all this was a tiny little box with a weird-looking key. Abby assumed that this was the key to the closet.

"Bingo!", exclaimed Abby. She took the key to the closet and attempted to open the closet door with it. The key she found was too big for the keyhole and wouldn't fit in. Now she was more curious than ever to know which room this key belonged to. Abby was not aware of any other locked rooms in her house. At first, she took the key and tried it on all the doors of the house. She tried her parents' room, then the guestroom, grandpas' room, and the kitchen door. She even tried the front and the back door just in case.

"What is this key for?", she thought. After no luck in finding the lock of the key, Abby went to her room and laid down on her bed. She kept staring at the key, trying to figure out what it meant. The key had wings attached to it and looked pretty ancient. It was a bronze key with rust spots all over it. Abby assumed it may be a trunk key or something else. She decided to leave the matter as it is for now and directly confront her parents later.

Her tummy was rumbling furiously with hunger. Abby went downstairs to get something to eat. She was still recovering from the incident in the morning. Her nose was now back to normal and her ears still in the recovery process. She was heating up her breakfast as she heard a faint thud coming from the living room. Abby had experienced enough paranormal activities to be afraid now. She held a knife in her hand and proceeded to the living room. She saw the window open and the curtains flying around. She gazed at the window in curiosity as she gradually got closer to it. Out of nowhere, a foot appeared on the windows' exterior sill. Then a hand appeared and a face. It was Dory trying to sneak inside Abby's house.

All dazzled and sleepy, Dory forced herself up the window and into the house to see Abby standing still with a knife in her hand.

"Woah, whoa what are you doing, it is just me.", Said Dory in a drunk manner. "And what happened to your ears?", she asked, disgustingly looking at Abby.

"WHO SNEAKS INTO SOMEONES HOUSE LIKE THAT YOU MORON!", screamed Abby.

"It's my sisters' house and I am going to come in and out whenever I want to and however I want to. But seriously, what is the deal with your ears?", said Dory.

"Why aren't you at school Dory,", asked Abby. "I came to check up on you, see if you are fine and you clearly don't look fine.", she laughed.

Abby and Dory went into the kitchen and sat down at the dinner table to talk. She told Dory about how she woke up like this and that papa Morgan showed up at the house. Abby also mentioned the conversation between Vivian and papa Morgan.

"Wow! That is some really sketchy behaviour,", laughed Dory. "What... Why are you…. Are you drunk?", questioned Abby.

"I don't know mom, Am I?", joked Dory

"This is not funny. Where are you coming from.?", asked Abby in an extremely concerned way.

"Relaaaaax, I wasn't drinking, I accidentally swallowed a whole lot of fairy dust, like a WHOLE LOT OF. After that I have just been senseless.", said Dory.

Abby looked at her with an uncomfortable look in her eyes. "You…... are a jerk, you know that.". Dory giggled and smiled at Abby's reply. Abby took her upstairs and showed her the key she found in her parent's room.

"Where did you find that?", asked Dory.

"I was looking for answers and I found this in a secret compartment underneath their bed.", replied Abby.

"What else was in there?". "Some pictures, papers, old stuff. I didn't really look at any of that stuff. I grabbed the keys and went.", said Abby. Dory made a questionable face as she locked eye contact with Abby.

"What?", asked Abby.

"Are you seriously that stupid, why didn't you look at anything else, maybe you would have found something.", said Dory.

Abby and Dory went into Vivian's and Joe's room to look for more evidence that makes the whole situation make sense. Abby showed Dory the secret hideout.

"DANM, that's cool. I thought it only happens in movies.", said Dory.

"That is far from cool. What is wrong with you? ugh.", Abby replied.

Both of the fairies went through the shoe box and looked at the pictures. "Haha in this one your mom looks like a frog.", Dory laughed. "Concentrate please.", replied Abby.

As they were going through the pictures, the front door opened and Vivian walked in. "Abby! I am home.", said Vivian. The current situation was messed up. Dory was supposed to be in school and Abby was supposed to be asleep instead of going through her secret stash.

Dory and Abby looked at each other in fear. Both of them started to panic and lose their senses.

"What do we do now!", whispered Dory.

"I… I … don't know. HIDE HIDE!", Abby whispered.

Abby took Dory and flew into her room. Abby hid Dory under her bed and rolled her laundry on top of her.

"EW your laundry smells.", complained Dory.

"Shut up, please! Don't come out.", Abby ran into her bed and acted as if she was sleeping the whole time.

"Hey peach, look I got you your favourite chicken soup, and don't ask where I got the chicken from.", laughed Vivian. "Here you go."

"Mom…. Wh…what are you doing home so early?", smiled Abby in tension.

"Because you weren't feeling well, I thought why not bring you something to eat, something you like.", said Vivian.

"Aw that is so thoughtful of you mom, now go. Thank you.", said Abby. "What did you say?", asked Vivian.

"Ummm, nothing, I mean You should go rest (she smiled), you must be tired.", covered Abby.

"Yeah I will go and lay down for a moment.", said Vivian. "Oh my, Abby! Your room smells! And why is your laundry lying around like this? How many times have I told you to keep your room clean.", moaned Vivian. "Let me pick it up.".

Dory hiding under the laundry panicked. Her mouth open and eyes out. "NO! I…. I…. mean…. I will take care of my laundry, it's okay.", laughed Abby.

"It is okay, you rest, it will only take a few minutes.", said Vivian as she reached out for the clothes lying in her room. Abby got up from her bed and jumped on the clothes. Dory was this close to screaming out in pain, bearing Abby's weight. "I'll do it, mom, now go, it's fine.", said Vivian.

Vivian gave a very weird look. It was a mixture of disgust and worry. She flew away in a zombie-like way and closed the door behind her. Abby signed and took a breath of relief.

"Oh my god that was close.", she whispered. Dory underneath the laundry pushed Abby and came barging out.

"First of all, your laundry SUCKS! Second of all, what the hell were you thinking. Jumping on me huh? You fat idiot! …. My poor wings.", cried Dory.

Abby told Dory to fly out of the window. She threw her out of the window and said that she will meet her afterward.

Vivian went to her room to notice her box open. At first, she looked around to see if there was someone else. She didn't suspect Abby because she was positive that she didn't come into her room. She thought that she might have left it open accidentally last night. Vivian did not check for the key in the box, it was still in Abby's custody. She quickly put the box under the floor and covered it up. She got up and looked around one last time and went to the bathroom. After a while, grandpa came back into the house, all scared and blown away. He looked shocked. Grandpa went to his room, packed his stuff, and left. Abby was standing in the staircase as she saw grandpa pick his stuff and leave.

She tried asking grandpa about what happened. He said nothing, instead, he looked at Abby and gave her a big hug, tight enough to suffocate a person to death. Then he left without even saying goodbye. Abby stood silently at the door when Vivian said, "What are you doing, close the door, Abby.".

Abby closed the door and flew upstairs to her mom. She was confused. She didn't know what was happening to her for the past few days. She asked Vivian about the sudden exit of grandpa.

Vivian looked at Abby and said, "He always does this. It is not surprising.".

"But he was scared Mom, I saw his face, he was terrified.", said Abby in concern.

"It was probably nothing, he may not be feeling well, that's all.", replied Vivian.

Abby was on her way back to her room when Vivian grabbed her hand and called her back. "Hey.", said Vivian. Abby's heart sank to the bottom, she thought Vivian figured out that she came into her room and found her box.

Vivian ran her fingers through her hair and said, "Did you notice anything unusual today in the house?"

As terrified as she was, Abby tried to be as calm as possible, "You mean how my ears shrunk and my nose got smaller. What else could be weirder?", Abby brushed off the conversation like a complete pro. Vivian gave a cute smirk and asked Abby to go to the market and fetch some potatoes. She said she will be making Abby's favourite fries. Abby loves fries, it is her favourite dish of all time. She happily got up to get the potatoes from the market when she realized her ears were all weird.

Vivian gave Abby and scarf and asked her to wear it when she leaves, this way no one even has a glimpse of suspicion. Confidently, Abby went outside to grab some stuff her mother had asked for. It was still school hours so no one was expecting Abby to show up at this time of the day.

"So you don't have school today tiny?", asked Rob the shopkeeper. Rob has a big supermarket located right in the middle of the town. He has one of the best-selling supermarkets in fairyland. His food is fresh and cheap. Rob has known Abby since her birth. Rob is actually, Abby's uncle from her fathers' side.

"I wasn't feeling well so mom asked me to stay home.", said Abby.

"O, what is wrong with you?", asked Rob. "Ummm, nothing much, just tired because of the event last night, that is all.", Abby responded.

"O, I see. What you need tiny?", asked Rob. Rob calls Abby tiny, they have been really close to each other and Rob is that fun uncle who always encourages their nephews to do rebellious things. Rob looks like a big, tough fairy. He works out A LOT and is extremely cautious about his looks. He has dark hair and hazel eyes loves to dance and party. Rob has big wings, like massive wings. His wings are the best feature about him. The top side is sky blue and it deepens into a dark sea blue from the bottom. He has a very joyful personality. He knows how to make the best of the worst of times and is an amazing survivor. It is funny how he ended up running the store. After his father died, one of the children had to take up the council and the other had to run the supermarket. Joe took the council and Rob ran the market. He wanted to be an artist, like painting stuff, and making portraits.

He lives alone and paints his house all the time. He has this one wall in his living room which is of vibrant blue colour, with a whale in the middle of a golden ring.

The wall gives off an "under the sea" vibe.

"Mom wanted a few potatoes.", said Abby.

"Okay, potatoes it is.", said Rob. He reached out to the nearby basket and grabbed seven potatoes from the bucket. He placed them on the counter and gave them to Abby.

"Thank you.", smile Abby.

"No problem tiny.", said Rob. "Abd hey, tell your mother I will come over for dinner tonight, okay?", he added. "Sure! I'll let her know.", replied Abby. "Nice scarf.", said Rob. Abby faced him and smiled.

Abby always took the shortest route home but today she went around the long way. She loved the weather at the moment, the weather hadn't been this pleasing since last spring. There was a web of clouds, backlit by the falling sun, mist billowed through the trees and over the fields and hung low in the air, masking the camp in a ghostly grey. The Sun hung in a pink haze of clouds and smog.

Abby enjoyed the weather as she skipped and hummed her way home. The long route home is through the crop fields. Rob owns the crop fields in a nearby area. The entire area is a golden-yellow pigment. The mud on the field made it very difficult to skip, so she flew the rest of her way home.

"(Singing) In hopes you're on the other side, talking to me too or….", paused Abby. She heard an indistinct hustling in the crops. She thought it might have been because of the strong winds and continued to proceed back home, swinging the potato bag around. Another hustle caught her attention but this time it was stronger. It felt like the noise didn't come far from where Abby was flying. She looked at the crops and flew faster. She knew what had been happening with her for the past couple of days and didn't want to be a victim of that again. She fled her way home and locked the door. These episodes were now becoming more and more frequent than before. Aby wanted to tell her parent but she didn't trust any of them anymore. She was in dire need of company, so she ran next door to Dory's house.

Dory's mom has a thing for gardens. She set up a beautiful lawn, full of flowers, trees, and fruits. The trees ran up tall and green. The bushes contained several flowers, of multiple colours. The grass was always fresh. Her garden was a complete wonderland and pleasing to the eye. Dory's mom watered the garden at least twice a day to keep it as magnificent as it was.

Abby ran inside and up to her room. Dory's room is always messy. Her mother is very clean and hygienic, while her daughter was as chaotic as she was spotless.

Dory has a little swing at the corner of her room. She sits there and writes. She has a journal just like Abby.

"Hey, you have to listen to me like right now!", panicked Abby.

"Relax! Are you okay? What is wrong?", said Dory. Abby leaned against her bed and said, "It happened again.". "What happened? The hallucinations?", said Dory. "Yes. I was going to tell mom but didn't know if it was right or not, so I came here.", she went on.

"I don't understand anything, Dory, first the locked door, the stash, and now this. I hate it.", cried Abby.

"What locked door?", questioned Dory.

"It wasn't a door; it was a closet. She had a locked closet in her room. I couldn't find the key to it.", Abby sobbed.

"Dumbo! you didn't use magic to open the door?", said Dory.

"I tried but it didn't work. But that is not what I want to talk about. The whispers, THE FREAKING NOISES they are getting louder each day.", cried Abby.

Dory tried to calm Abby down and replied, "What if the answers to this haunting are behind the locked closet.". "That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, Dory, literally the pointless thing ever.", Abby said.

"No, no, just think this through. Vivian was acting sketchy, this morning and now she found the urge to lock a closet in a house. Certainly, she is not keeping it from Joe, I mean…. he is in the same room, he must know what's in the closet.", argued Dory.

Dory's argument left Abby in deep thoughts. She was now suspecting her own family. As bad as it sounds, her reasons were valid. Instead of sneaking into her parent's room again, she thought about talking to Vivian face to face. Dory agreed to her decision and they also decided that if Vivian tries to change the subject, they will break into their closet and get the answers forcefully.

Abby went home with the sack of potatoes. "Is this how long it takes to get potatoes?", asked Vivian. Abby looked at her in disappointment and said, "No I… I went to Dory's; she was having a bad day.".

Vivian gave her regards to Dory, "Well I hope she is all better now, huh.".

Abby rested the potatoes on the kitchen counter and sat on the counter next to her mother. She gave her mom a continuous stare until she would notice. "What?", curiously said her mom, "Why are you looking at me like that?".

"Mom….. I am going to ask you something and I want you to be completely honest with me right now okay? Vivian gave a sore look to Abby and nodded her head. "What do you want to know?", she replied.

"What happened to me today? Has this happened before? Why did it happen?", asked Abby.

"Woah so many questions altogether. Peach, seriously it was nothing and I don't know anything because it has never happened before. It may a little side effect of something, I don't know, maybe…. you did something, a spell? It's okay, but look at yourself now, you are perfectly back to normal.", said Vivian

Abby knew her mother was lying. She heard papa Morgan and her talk in the kitchen earlier. "Then why did you ask papa Morgan that it happened…. Again.", questioned Abby.

Vivian's face went a little pale and her hands started to shiver a little bit. Abby noticed this change in her behaviour. "Look at you, listening to our talks. I didn't say that, I am positive, it must have been something else.", she laughed.

Abby took her fries and went to her room.

"O and She waved Dory through her window. "She is lying", signalled Abby.

Dory told her to be ready for tomorrow. Time wasn't flying for Abby. She was uncomfortable and felt suffocated in her room. She couldn't go out because it was raining. Rain makes the wings heavy because of which fairies can't fly. Abby waited patiently for tomorrow, she thought about what had happened with her in the past few days. She was scared and not sure whom she should and should not trust.

She laid silently in her bed and closed her eyes. Her mind was bursting with the thought that her own parents weren't trustworthy. Abby cleared her head and tried to get some sleep for tomorrow. She knew what she was going to do was wrong but her mother had left her no other choice.

The night went by and the morning appeared. The first thing Abby did was get up and look at the mirror, "Thank god.", she said as she took a breath of relief. Her physical appearance was back to normal and she looked like a fairy again. Abby went to school without having any breakfast. "Aren't you hungry?", asked Joe. "No, I ate a lot of fries yesterday. Still stuffed.", Abby laughed as she packed her bag for school.

"Have a nice day peach.", said Vivian. "Oh, and Abby, Rob called and he said sorry I got a little busy? What was that supposed to mean? He said Abby knew."

"Oh yes, I forgot (she giggled) He was supposed to come for dinner but he didn't show up.". replied Abby. Then she closed the door and flew to school.

After she left, Vivian gave Joe a scared stare. She took his hand and said, "I think she might know.". Joe's faced turned clueless as he responded, "There is no way she could find out about it and we have to make sure it stays that way okay. What happened tomorrow was a mistake and it will not happen again.". Vivian and Joe gave each other pep talks and tried to calm each other down.

Later that day in school Abby met up with Dory to talk about today.

"Are you sure this is a good idea Dory?", asked Abby.

"Do you prefer being lied to and kept in the dark?", said Dory. "NoOooOOoo, but...", replied Abby.

"There are no buts in this, either you are 100 percent in or 100 percent out.", said Dory as she stopped walking and turned around to face Abby.

"Look Abby, you might not know this yourself but I have seen you, I have seen you panic and scared and it hurts me…... It hurts my heart. I remember you were always with me since I got diagnosed and I am not going to leave now that you need my help.", replied Dory in an emotional way.

Dory's speech built up a little confidence within Abby, she was now sure that what she was going to do was what is better for her mental health.

"My mom and my dad reach home just a few minutes after I reach home from school. So, to reach home first we need to bail school.", said Abby. "Got it.", replied Dory.

The school bell rang and everyone proceeded to their class except for Abby and Dory. They took advantage of the rush in the hallway to sneak out through the janitors' window. "Come on hurry up!", whispered Dory to Abby. While they were all caught up in their epic plan, they forgot that the teacher's staffroom was right next to the janitors' room.

Abby didn't know how to pick a lock; Dory used her magic to open the locked door. But as she got the door open, Miss Swan walked out of the staff lounge, into the hallway. She looked up and saw Dory and Abby trying to pick the lock.

"What are you girls doing here?", asked Miss Swan.

The fairies had nothing left to say, they continued to look straight into Miss Swan's eyes in surprise.

"Ummm we were… umm just grabbing… something um from the room.", replied Dory.

"You were grabbing something from the Janitors office? Seriously? Do you think I am that stupid? I spent my entire childhood in this school, I know this is an escape room.", said Miss Swan.

"You do?", questioned Abby. "Yes totally, my friends and I used to sneak out of school all the time. Umm, I mean sometimes.", laughed Miss Swan.

"Awesome!", replied Abby.

"If you don't go now, you will not get a chance to leave, this place gets crowded after 8. And umm, girls, submit your essays tomorrow.", said Miss Swan.

Abby and Dory said their goodbye to Miss Swan and left.

There is something different about Miss Swan, she has never met any of her students' parents and has never shown up in parent-teacher meetings. She stays isolated from everyone and goes home straight after her class is over. Miss Swan can't fly because of which she owns a car. She has a leprechaun servant who helps her around now and then. Miss Swan doesn't really have any friends at school or outside school. She stays away from the rest of the fairies and keeps to herself. It is weird how she is but she is happy and that is good.

Abby and Dory reached home before Vivian and Joe. They locked the door and went upstairs to the room.

"Open the closet.", said Abby.

"Yes, yes I'll open it right now.", replied Dory. Abby used her powers to open the closet door. After multiple tries, it didn't work. "What? I am doing the right spell, it should open", complained Dory. "Maybe you must have missed something, try again.", said Abby.

Dory gave it another try. "I can't open it Abby. It sealed with magic, like strong magic.", said Dory.

"Magic? Why would my mother use magic to close a closet door?", said Abby as she tried to figure out what was inside the closet.

"Then we would just have to find the key then huh? said Dory. "How will we find the key. Plus, if the closet is closed with magic, how can a key open it?", questioned Abby. "You idiot. Something closed with magic can't be opened with magic but something opposite, something earthy, natural. The key was the first thing to open the lock in the first place, and it could do it again regardless of the magic spell. But…. If your mother used magic to lock the closet then she definitely wouldn't have hidden the key somewhere easy to find.", Dory replied.

"Well, then I think we should get to work now.", said Abby.

Abby inspected the entire area downstairs and Dory looked for the key upstairs. From the kitchen to the bathroom, they didn't leave a single room unchecked. After hours and hours of flipping the place upside down, checking the jewellery box, the toolbox, the cookies jar, everything but they both untied with no luck.

"Where possibly can she hide a damn key?", groaned Dory.

"I don't know? But she is really good in hiding.", replied Abby. Booth of them gave each other disappointing looks.

"UGHHHH (growled Dory) All this searching made me hungry.", growled Dory.

"Seriously? Fine, there is a little French toast leftover mixture, we could make some French toast.", asked Abby. As sad as they were, Dory's face lit up with excitement upon hearing the word French toast. Dory loves French toast. When she was diagnosed in her early stage, the doctor said that bread was harmful to her and that she couldn't eat anything containing flour. She faced a really tough time and French toasts cheer her up every time.

"Give me the pan Dory.", said Abby. Dory grabbed the pan from the cupboard and handed it over to Abby.

"What is that?", asked Dory pointing at the finger fries Abby took out for herself. Her mindlessness caused the pan to slip from her hand and hit the floor.

"Oh my god DORY! This was Mom's favourite pan. You broke it!" exclaimed Abby. The handle of the pan opened from the bottom. Abby picked up the pan when she heard something slide off from the panhandle and hit the floor. Both of them looked down to see what it was and what they found left them shocked.

"The key?", said Dory extremely paralyzed. "Oh my, I cannot believe my mom hid this? In a pan?", said Abby as she started at the key in shock. Dory picked up the key from the ground and flew into Abby's parents' room.

Dory held Abby's hand very tight while opening the closet. They had their fingers crossed, hoping the key could open the closet. Abby inserted the key onto the keyhole and twisted it around with her eyes closed.

'click', went the lock.

Abby opened her eyes and screamed in happiness as she hugged Dory. "Let's see what's in the closet.", said Dory.

Abby opened the closet door to find a dark room, not a closet, a full room, almost like a mini-store. The room had no light, Dory used her powers to produce a little fire, that would make things easier to see.

"Look! There is a flashlight over there, get it!", said Abby. Dory grabbed the flashlight and searched for the light switch. The room didn't give off a very nice vibe, it was dark, it was terrifying, and sounded like bad news. At that point, Abby wasn't sure if she wanted to proceed with the quest. Abby stopped for a while and looked at Dory.

"Dory what if I find stuff that would make me hate my parents, what if I don't look at them the same way as before. What if things change after I unravel their secret?", said Abby terrified of the whole moment.

Dory gave her comfort and the confidence to go on. She wanted to see Abby happy and not terrified her whole life. "You have to do this or else your entire life would just be a lie.". Dory turned on the power and a little light bulb on top of them lit up. The room was full of shelves with potions and fairy dust. There was all kind of potions and things in that room. It was a rusty old room, it seemed pretty ancient. At the end of the room was a big cupboard. It wasn't locked it was just closed with a chair.

"What even is this?", said Dory. "Do your parent do spells or something in here because this place smells.", coughed Dory. The air in the room was occupied with a pungent smell, almost as if a body had been down here for weeks.

"Don't know, it's just so weird.", whispered Abby. They approached the cupboard at the end of the room. There was a vent leading somewhere bedsides the cupboard. Abby snuck in the vent and crawled her way through the tiny space. It wasn't a long vent. There light was coming from the other end, it wasn't far. Usually, vents are dirt and messy because they are not cleaned for a long time but this vent was spotless as if someone cleaned it often. Abby approached the end of the vent. The vent was closed with a lid screwed into the wall. The lid had parallel lines running from there top to the bottom, which gave a glimpse of the place outside the vent. Beside the lid was a charging fan.

"What the….", questioned Abby, "This is weird". She peeked through the lines in the lid and what she saw left her mouth wide open.

"My…. My….. my room? Why do they have a vent leading to my room from a locked cabinet?". Abby was terrified. Her head started spinning and none of this made any sense to her. She quickly crawled back to the room when she saw Dory, shocked in the same way as Abby.

"DORY! DORY!", yelled Abby. She came out of the vent and saw Dory standing in front of the open cupboard, staring at it continuously.

"Dory? Are you okay?". Dory did not respond to Abby. She had her eyes locked in the cupboard. She gently proceeded towards the cupboard to check what surprising thing was inside it.
