13 Chapter 13: Magic sword

That letter was now two years old and it was the last letter Tia received from them.

Tia put the later back in her pocked and looked at the paper before her.

Irene wanted to say something, but before she could even open her mouth, she was interrupted by someone laughing loud.

"FINALLY, I DID IT. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Both Irene and Tia stood up and walked to the source of this.

As both Irene and Tia got closer to the forge they could see a large group of people, they could also see Challot, Emrissen, Aversia and Zeldaris at the front.

Both Zeldaris and Aversia had sparkling eyes and looked excited, while Challot and Emrissen looked slightly annoyed, but it was unclear why.

The surrounding people noticed Irene and Tia and formed a path for them.

What they saw inside the forge shocked them.

Vulcan was holding a seemingly normal sword while crying and laughing, which let him look like he lost his mind.

On the ground laid a sword that was cut in half, the sword was one of Vulcans best weapons that he ever made.

Irene and Tia didn´t know how to react to this, after all they never saw the ever-calm Vulcan like this.

Emrissen who had enough walked before har husband and gave him a good slap into the face.

Vulcan flew through the wall and landed on the street.

Silence, everyone looked shocked at Emrissen, who looked with cold eyes at her husband.

"What the hell was that for?", asked Vulcan as he stood up and held a hand against his face.

"You act and look like an idiot. So, stop your act or see what happens."

"Are you kidding me. I finally managed to perfectly combine my abilities as a black smith and as an enchanter and you won´t let me be happy or aren´t happy for me."

"Oh, I am happy for you and I wouldn´t stop you if you wouldn´t look and act like a braindead idiot."

"I have made the perfect sword that even you can´t destroy, so let me be."

"OH! So, you really think that toothpick of yours can withstand my power? Fine let me test it or are you chicken?"

Vulcan with a smug smile handed the sword to Emrissen.

In that exact moment Challot used her magic to cool Vulcans emotions, while chuckling the whole time.

When Vulcan calmed down and thought about the situation he went pale like a ghost, because not only did he remember how strong Emrissen is in her human form even without magic, he also knows her good enough that she very angry and that he is in serious danger.

For example, if she didn´t hold back when she slapped him, his head would have been ripped of his body and sent flying through the village and a good part of the forest and that's without magic.

Before he could beg his wife to stop and forgive him, she tossed it into the air.

After almost hitting the ceiling, the sword fell and when it was right before Emrissen, she punched the blade of the sword.

The blade brook into tiny pieces and the handle flew through the ceiling and disappeared.

Vulcan ran to the pieces and wanted to cry and yell at Emrissen, but when he saw the expression on her face, he didn´t dare to make a sound.

She grabbed his collar and took him with her.

The others followed the two in order to make sure that Vulcan would survive this.

Emrissen brought Vulcan to the field were the dragons were sleeping.

It was a giant field outside the Village were the dragons could sleep in peace.

Emrissen threw Vulcan to the ground.

"So, do you have finally calmed down?"

"Y … Y-es mam."

"Good, know then, we will have a conversation later when we are alone, am I clear."

Vulcan looked confused at Emrissen.

"It seems we are not alone.", said Emrissen and pointed at the others.

She waited until everyone arrived and made themselves comfortable.

"Now then, please explain what made that sword so special."

"Wait? What? I thought you were not interested at it?"

"I was annoyed how you were making an idiot out of yourself. That doesn´t mean that I am not happy for you or that I am not interested in it, its just that you looked like brain-dead idiot."

Vulcan thought back and had to agree that she was right.

(NA: exposition incoming!! Also, I am very sorry for the long text.)

"Ok, but before I need to explain a few things. A normal magical weapon would get their magic imbued into them by an enchanter. The effect on the blade is different from the type of ability, but in all cases the weapon becomes the container for that magic. Let's take an example, a passive ability would work on itself and would not need further magic input through the wielder. An active ability is the exact opposite and needs magic from the wielder to work.

Of course, you can imbue multiple abilities onto one weapon, depending on the material, the strength of the magic and or ability and other factors. You can even put conditions and commands for ability´s into the weapon, like a certain move or voice line. All of this is of course not limited to weapons but also armors and other things, but weapons are more common than everything else. You can even make it so that their ability's influence each other, like an armor that can control swords.

(AN: *cough* Heaven´s wheel armor *cough*)

But in the end the object would still be only a container. I wanted to create a way to truly fuse them together. First I tried to imbue the object in a different way, but that failed miserbly. Then I tried runes, but that was not much better, although I found out that I could give an object working runes even if it was filled to the brim with magic.

After words I tried to use materials containing magic or otherwise magical materials. It helped a lot, but it was not enough. Then I had the idea to imbue the magic when it was forged. That was easier said than done, since I needed to figure out when the best moment for it was and if I could or need to do it at different stages of the crafting and if the steps after words would influence the magic. It took me many tries and almost a year for that, I sometimes stopped and tested cloth and wood as well, just so that I would not go completely insane with all the failures. The result was that it depends on the material. The sword from earlier was the first fully finished prototype."

After saying all that Vulcan took some water out of his pocket and drank it, everyone else was stunned at the depth of Vulcans research and his experiments.

"What are the benefits of your method?", asked Tia.

Vulcan got a smug smile on his face and said," Enhanced durability, lower activation cost, lower maintenance cost and greater effects. Basically, an improvement in every way, but the production is way more complicated and you need materials with magic to bring out better performance. But you can still inscribe runes on them and through the magic and the materials, the runes effect is boosted as well."

Everyone´s jaw dropped to the floor when they heard this, they never imagined that the effects would be so great.

Even with the difficulty in producing them they were more than worth it.

An army equipped with these weapons would be unstoppable.

"You really are amazing you know that?", said Emrissen with a smile and shaking her head.

Vulcan just smiled at the compliment, because those are rear from Emrissen.

"The prototype didn´t have any runes on it, but my work is not done yet. There is still much to learn and much to improve about it."

"Dad, what would happen if you used materials of magical creatures?", asked Aversia.

"That is a good question. I think that the ability's and characteristics of the creature would influence the object."

"Then why don't you use dragon scales or dragon bones?"
