72. Close Call

Ben rushes at Elfman while making a black purplish gravity ball. He throws the ball at Elfman to pin him down. Ben then chops Elfman's neck to knock him out and Elfman returns to his human form.

Ben releases the gravity ball and takes Elfman to Mirajane. Mirajane is treating Lisanna while crying and blame herself. Ben doesn't know what happen, so he just put Elfman down and doesn't say anything.

Lisanna opens her eyes and looks at Mira, then she looks at Elfman who has turned into a human again, and smiles. But suddenly her body glows and starts to disappear slowly.

Ben is surprised by it, he's sure his punch has reduced Elfman's attack power before. She shouldn't be that injured because that attack was not lethal.

Lisanna's body that starts to glow and disappear also seems strange. Ben tries to check her, but But it's not the time to think about that.

Ben immediately uses his magic sense and senses Lisanna's magic power gone slowly. Ben immediately makes a Light Sphere dome barrier that covers them. He tries to stop Lisanna's magic power from leaving her body.

However, even Ben's Light Sphere now starts to brittle and disappear. "WHAT?! Why's my magic-?! It gets sucked by something."

Ben looks up at the sky and sees the cloud twirling like a tornado. He tries to use his magic sense and realizes that a big amount of Ethernano is moving up to the sky and disappear.

'This is- It's the thing that makes the Magic Council sent me. What happen here?' thinks Ben while trying to maintain his Light Sphere.

Ben makes a Light Sphere again and he makes it stronger than before. He keeps trying to maintain his Light Sphere to prevent Lisanna's magic from disappearing. He uses more MP because the suction is very strong.

'AI Chip, analyze the situation! I will focus on saving her,' says Ben to AI Chip in his mind.

[Understood]

Ben maintains his Light Sphere and reduces the suction on Lisanna's MP. Her body starts to become visible again, but her MP is still depleted slowly.

Ben uses more power on his Light Sphere to make the unknown thing suck his Spell's MP rather than Lisanna's MP. The situation continues for 15 minutes. Even Ben's MP that has grown a lot has become very low now.

Luckily, it stops before Ben runs out of MP. He slumped on the ground and panted hard because his MP dropped fast. He sees Lisanna is still on Mirajane's lap, but she is unconscious.

Ben tries to sense Lisanna's magic power, but he can't feel it. It seems her MP still gets sucked and now she run out of her MP completely. If nothing wrong happened, she should recover from it in a few days.

Mirajane sees that everything is over and then she fall unconscious too. She is very stressed out by what happened just now. Now when everything is over, she can relax and sleep.

Ben check on the 3 siblings' condition and they're fine. But he senses something is strange with Lisanna. He can't feel her presence at all even though he can see her and her heart is beating.

Lisanna's MP should start to recover even if it's very slow. With Ben's current level of Magic Sense ability, he should be able to sense even a small change in Lisanna's magic power. But it doesn't increase even a bit.

Ben isn't a doctor, so he doesn't know what actually happened. At least Lisanna is still alive even if her condition doesn't seem good. He will leave it to a professional doctor who will know what to do.

Ben takes the 3 unconscious siblings to his car. He asks Bella who stays in the car all the time to cover the 3 siblings with a blanket and put the seatbelts on them.

Then he checks the situation again and finds the strange phenomenon has really end. Ben is still confused by it because even AI Chip can't find anything just now.

'I will just report it as it is. The Council should have someone who knows what happened,' thinks Ben before getting on his car.

Ben then leaves the area and goes to Magnolia to send the siblings back to their Guild. An hour after they leave, Elfman wakes up. He is panicking, but Ben can calm him down.

Elfman then tells Ben of what happened before. They took an S-Class job because Mira is an S-Class mage. Their job was to suppress the King of Monsters.

However, the beast was too strong for them. To protect his sisters, Elfman used his magic to take over the beast's body. But because the beast was too strong, he lose control of it.

Ben sighs because Elfman tells him that Mira took the job out of her impulse. She has a big rivalry with Erza and doesn't want to lose to her. She still took the job even though it's a difficult S-Class job.

Ben then tells Elfman about what happened after he lose control. Elfman grit his teeth and clench his fists. He feels very powerless because he can't protect his family and even put them in danger.

"Don't blame yourself too much. If you feel that you're weak, then get stronger. If you feel that you're useless, then get better. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone can learn from their mistakes. Rather than blaming yourself, do what you can to not make the same mistakes," says Ben to Elfman.

Elfman looks down and says, "Alright."

Ben looks at Elfman from the mirror and sees he tries to hold his emotion. "Just cry. A man is allowed to cry. Crying isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign that we have emotion."

Elfman finally shed his tears although he still tries to not make any noise. Ben can see from the mirror that Mira has woken up. But she still closes her eyes. It seems she wants to let Elfman cry and doesn't hold back his emotion.

Ben knows Mira feels very bad right now because it's her mistake that her younger siblings suffer. If Ben doesn't show up and help them, she doesn't know what will happen to them.

Ben let her sort her emotion by herself. She cares a lot about her siblings, so she won't do the same mistake again. She should learn from this mistake and not do reckless things again.

They arrive in Magnolia after 4 hours and Ben takes them straight to their Guild. He stops in front of the Guild and helps them carry Lisanna. Elfman helps Mira to walk and they enter the guild.

Some guild members look at them and immediately ask what happen. Ben interrupts them and asks where the doctor is. There's no time for talking because Lisanna needs immediate treatment.

"Doctor is it? Follow me, boy," says a short old man who suddenly appears from the crowd.

"Master," says Elfman while looking down.

"We can talk later like what the boy said. Lisanna needs treatment and you 2 also need it. Can we use your car, boy? The best doctor's location is quite far," says Fairy Tail's Guild Master, Makarov.

Ben nods and they enter his car again. Makarov also enters the car to show them the way. Suddenly a young boy with pink hair runs to the car and asks them about Lisanna.

"Not now, Natsu. We need to take Lisanna to the doctor first. Don't worry, she will be fine," says Makarov to the boy.

The boy can only nod and step back. Ben then runs his car and follows the direction that Makarov gives him.

On their way there, Ben asks something to Makarov. "That pink-haired boy, is he a Dragon Slayer?"

"Yes, just like you," says Makarov.

"You know me?" asks Ben.

Makarov nods and says, "You are more famous than you think, Ben Cooper. Or should I say, the youngest S-Class Mage in Fiore's history who held the power of Sun Dragon, the Sun's Child, 'Karna'."
