406 406. Dragon Fight
The grin on Ben's Dragon face seems ominous in Acnologia's eyes. But he ignores it because they are in a fight and he shouldn't get bothered by something like this. Besides, it will be shameful if he gets nervous just because of his opponent's grin.
They continue their fight and now Ben attacks more playfully. He is used to his new body form now, so he chooses to play around first to know his limit. Besides, he wants to anger Acnologia and he always shows his best ability when he is 'playing around' in a fight.
Acnologia swipes his claws at Ben, but Ben drops himself to avoid it. His tail, however, is holding Acnologia's left foot, so his drop pulls Acnologia down too. Ben laughs as he swings his body around using his tail while Acnologia tries to keep flying.
The angry Acnologia shoots his Dragon's Roar at Ben who clings below him. Ben only says, "Whoopsies," while swinging to Acnologia's back. But Ben's tail is still tied to Acnologia's left foot, and now he is holding Acnologia's tail.
"Woah, such a Big Black Tail, I'm sure Irene would like this. Or have you used it on a female Dragon before?" asks Ben mockingly.
Acnologia roars angrily and sends a back kick at Ben using his free right leg. Ben only raises an eyebrow as he pulls Acnologia's tail and puts it in the path of the kick. It makes Acnologia's kick hits his own tail which makes him roar in pain.
"You did it yourself, pal, I'm not guilty," says Ben while raising his only hand and releasing Acnologia's tail.
Acnologia then swipes his tail at Ben again, but now it is coated with magic, so Ben can't just grab it. He, however, pulls Acnologia's left leg to the left very fast. Acnologia's tail attack misses Ben and he is sent flying to the left by Ben's throw.
After balancing himself for a bit, Acnologia stops flying and looks back at Ben. His expression says that he will surely kill Ben, but Ben just whistles playfully. Ben is really enjoying this little game of his that angers Acnologia while he is having fun.
Acnologia then roars angrily as he creates many blue magic circles around him. Ben remembers this spell which makes him grin excitedly. He was overwhelmed by this spell the last time he fought against Acnologia, after all, so he will get his chance to redeem himself.
The blue magic circles shoot many blue beams that target Ben. They move very fast, but Ben just looks at them while grinning. Ben coats his hands with golden solar energy before he extends his arms forward.
A 5 meters Sun ball appears on Ben's hands and he chants, "Sun Dragon's Solar Flares!"
Whips made out of golden solar energy come out of the Sun ball. The whips slap around hitting the blue beams and sending them away. These whips aren't as strong as Acnologia's attack, but they have enough power to just redirect the blue beams.
The blue beams fly around and fall onto the ground. Some of them fall on the city, destroying buildings and even the castle. Many soldiers who hide in the city fall victim to these powerful attacks, and even the Spriggans get damaged as 2 beams fall near them, damaging them while sending them to fly.
Acnologia gets even angrier because none of his attacks hit Ben. The city is almost destroyed, but it wasn't his target, so he isn't satisfied. Ben is still unscathed because he only got minor injuries that already healed by his strong vitality.
"Is that all you got, big boy?" asks Ben mockingly.
Again, Acnologia roars as he creates a massive blue magic circle in front of him. Ben gets serious instantly because he can feel this attack is far more powerful than any attack Acnologia has ever used against him. He can even feel the magic power of this attack keeps increasing.
"Damn, does he plan to destroy this continent?" ponders Ben seriously.
The magic power accumulated in Acnologia's attack is powerful enough to destroy this whole continent. Ben has angered Acnologia too much that the Black Dragon decides to eradicate him along with this whole continent.
All Spriggans below are thinking the same thing as Ben now. This attack is simply the most powerful magic they've ever seen in their whole lives. Even Irene and August who boasted to have the greatest power among the Spriggans are trembling in fear now.
Both Irene and August have the power to destroy a continent. But they will need a lot of attacks to do that and maybe need to use all their magic power. The most Irene can do with a spell is reform the continent after some preparations, not destroy it.
The sheer pressure of Acnologia's magic is making them tremble strongly. If even the Spriggans have those reactions, the soldiers are having it worse. They faint immediately and the weak ones who have been injured are dying.
Among all those present there, only Ben is fully fine. He doesn't even feel nervous, instead, he feels very excited, showed by the wide grin on his face. Ben is currently analyzing Acnologia's magic spell with Quorra's help because this is the first time he sees a spell with such a level.
"What a great attack, truly fitting your title as the Strongest individual in the world. I'm sure the world's attention is focusing on you now," says Ben while still grinning.
Just like Ben said, the world's attention is on Acnologia right now, in a sense. Powerful Mages from all over the world sense the power of Acnologia's spell. They can feel its power and evilness which make their hair stands while they produce cold sweat unknowingly.
"This magic power, it's him for sure, Acnologia," says Gildarts while touching his mechanical arm.
Gildarts is now on Fairy Tail's airship with his guildmates. Around their ship are other Guilds' airships and even Magic Council's airships. They are on the way to Alvarez after finally knowing that Ben has left to attack the Empire alone.
"Do you think it is what it is?" asks Makarov.
"Yeah, there's no doubt about it, they have started their battle. There are only 2 opponents who can make Acnologia use this level of spell. But I doubt Zeref would make Acnologia so angry that he uses such an attack on Zeref's Empire. It must be Ben," says Gildarts seriously.
"You're right, he likes to irritate his opponents in battles. But he only does it under a condition," says Porlyusica.
"He is sure of his win or at least he has a very high chance of winning," says Mavis.
"My gosh, just how powerful is he now to have such confidence against that Acnologia?" asks Lucy with a pale expression as she remembers Acnologia's power.
"No one knows, even Mira might not know it," says Laxus.
"Still, no matter how powerful he is, going alone against a whole Empire led by Zeref is very reckless. Now, even Acnologia appears," says Mavis.
Mavis looks very different from her usual self. It's because she is no longer just a spirit, she is not a haunting ghost anymore. Now, she has her real body that was encased inside the lacrima, which was known as Fairy Heart or Lumen Histoire.
Ben has researched the method to make her return to her body. He did the procedure right before leaving Ishgar to attack Alvarez. But the process was long and it has just finished last night. So when Mavis heard Ben disappear, she knew instantly that he has left to attack Alvarez.
Mira hid it very well, so no one knew that Ben left to attack Alvarez. They only knew the fact after Mavis told them. When they asked Mira about it, she told them the truth because this was what Ben planned.
He wanted them to know it, but not from the start or when everything has finished. They need to know it right when the war started. Ben needs them as backups for his plan because if he failed to finish this war in a day, then he would get help from them.
But it doesn't seem necessary now because the only threat left is Acnologia. Alvarez is weaker than Ben thought, including their Emperor. Well, either that or he has gotten too strong for them because the whole Alvarez has the power to eradicate Ishgar if they planned it well.
The Mages from Ishgar who are going to Alvarez know this well enough. So they understand why Ben attacked Alvarez alone because he doesn't want to give the Empire a chance to attack first and it would be very bad if the war happens in Ishgar.
Although it sounds very reckless, they all also know very well that it's only possible because it's Ben. In the whole Ishgar, only he has the capability to attack a great military nation led by the strongest Mage in the world alone. Others might be brave or stupid enough, but they don't have the capability to do it.
Still, they can't let their Strongest Mage who has made many changes in Ishgar and even made it more united now does this alone. Even if they can't help much, they still want to help him. They don't want to rely on just one man to protect their home & lives.
That's why they go to Alvarez without hesitation after receiving the news from Makarov. Even Makarov didn't expect these many people would go to Alvarez with Fairy Tail. Almost every Guild sent people, all Wizard Saints come, Magic Council sent troops, nations also sent their people to Alvarez.
Ben never realized it, but he is loved by many after doing many things. He did those things for himself, but he helped many people. To this date, Ben has eradicated more Dark Guilds and Etherious Demons than anybody in Ishgar, which saved a lot of lives.
Furthermore, as the Strongest Individual in Ishgar, he is very important to the continent. They can't afford to lose him, the pillar of their continent. If Ishgar becomes an Empire, he would be its Emperor without a doubt, that's how much people trust him, and he doesn't know that even though he's so smart.
