318. MPF

With Erza killing all monsters in Pandemonium, the other contestants don't have any monsters to fight anymore. So the organizer decides to make another game to decide the rank. They will decide the rank by measuring their attacks' magic power.

The organizer places a tool made of a big lacrima ball. It will measure their attacks' magic power named Magic Power Finder or MPF. The Mages will attack it and it will measure the magic power of their spells.

Milliana of Mermaid Heel goes first and she scores 365 points. It's a good score based on Lahar, a Magic Council officer who joins as a commentator. That score is as high as a Squad Captain of Magic Council's Rune Knights.

Nobarly of Quatro Cerberus comes up next and scores 125 points. Hibiki of Blue Pegasus comes up next and scores a whopping 95 points. Next, Glock of Scarmiglione scores 58 points, which makes Hibiki a little happy.

That happiness is short as Orga of Sabertooth scores 3825 points using his Lightning God Slayer Magic. It shocks the crowd and Lahar comments that he never saw a score that high. Getting a score higher than 1000 is very difficult, after all.

But the one who comes up next is Jura who walks forward and says, "Such a high score. Then I think I need to be serious too. Well, I can only be serious considering who comes up after me." He says that while peeking at Ben who is still playing with his Nikora.

Everyone sweatdrops at that sight and Jura just sighs because Ben is still not taking this seriously at all. Jura then uses the same Magic that he used on Ben during their battle before getting defeated. His attack surprises everyone as he scores 9362 points.

It might be lower if his magic didn't get improved by Ben. But it might just be lower by around 1000 points at most. It would still defeat the other contestants though. Still, Jura isn't happy about it because the one who will come up next is Ben.

Ben walks forward and puts Dio, his yellow Nikora in front of him. "Hey, do you want to try attacking it, Little Guy?"

"Pyu?" asks Dio confusedly.

"Come on, it will be fine. Raise your hands to the front," says Ben.

Dio is still confused, but he still raises his hands in front of him toward the MPF. Everyone then gets speechless when they see a small golden magic circle appears in front of the Nikora. It rotates before forming a small golden ball the size of a golf ball.

Ben is the one who makes it though, but Dio seems very excited and his eyes are glittering. Then he says "Pyu!" which no one understands what he means. But maybe it means "Fire!" because the golden ball suddenly flies toward the MPF device.

It flies slowly though as if a kindergartener is the one who throws it. But when it hits the MPF, it doesn't look like a kindergartener attack. The small golden ball creates a massive explosion that shocks everyone and even makes Dio flies back, so Ben catches him.

Dio is in shock as he watches the explosion, just like the crowd. The MPF then shows a surprising number of 9363 points. It's just 1 point higher than Jura's attack which makes everyone even quieter now.

For untrained eyes, it seems like Ben gets that number by luck, and his attack was as strong as Jura's. But the experienced Mages know that Ben purposedly made his attack to get that number. Jura is smiling bitterly at that feat because it feels like Ben is playing around.

Although he knows that to get such a precise number is utterly difficult. He needed to gauge Jura's attack power precisely using his sense, which shows how monstrous his magic sense is. Then he needed to make an attack that was just a bit stronger than Jura's attack which shows how monstrous his magic control is.

"This monster is just too much," says Jura while looking at Ben who dances around with the happy Dio.

The Mages who know it are stunned and their jaws drop as no word can come out of their mouths. Then the crowd also gets stunned when Yajima explains that to them. Everyone now realizes that Ben's magic sense is just as accurate as the MPF, and he has a precise magic control to make that attack.

The commentator then breaks the silence by announcing the current points based on this game's result.

Fairy Tail B : 48 points

Fairy Tail A : 37 points

Mermaid Heel : 24 points

Sabertooth : 22 points

Blue Pegasus : 15 points

Scarmiglione : 14 points

Lamia Scale : 13 points

Quatro Cerberus : 9 point

The overall ranking is still the same as yesterday though. But it will change in the battle round that will start later. The game participants then return to their stands so they can rest before the battle round.

"Man, you really enjoyed the game, huh?" asks Cana.

"Isn't that the purpose of a game? It was made to be enjoyed," says Ben while smiling.

"Others might not think it like you though," says Freed while looking at the angry Sabertooth Mages.

"Who cares? I want to enjoy my life when I have it. Everything will disappear when we died, after all," says Ben.

"Well, that's true, but I still can't enjoy this game at all," says Laxus pissedly.

"Then you should've just played when I asked you," says Ben.

"Tch, attacking an object isn't fun," says Laxus.

"Sigh, whatever. You might get called later for the battle because you're the only one who hasn't competed," says Ben.

"They should be," says Laxus.

The battle round starts soon and the first battle is between Milliana of Mermaid Heel and Semmes of Quatro Cerberus. Milliana is a Binding magic user while Semmes is a Spinning magic user. Both are interesting magic that seems weak but can be strong based on the users.

Soon, the battle starts, and Semmes immediately spins his body. Milliana tries to attack him but her binding rope keeps bouncing off his body. She can only run away while Semmes chases her. But after many tries, her rope finally wraps Semmes and binds him, giving her victory.

The next battle is between Blue Pegasus and Scarmiglione. Eve gets chosen as Blue Pegasus's fighter while Glock who competed in Pandemonium and MPF before gets chosen as Scarmiglione's fighter.

They enter the arena and start the fight after a small talk. Eve is a user of Snow Magic while Glock is a Guns Magic user. Ben is quite interested in Glock's Guns Magic because he also used it to make some magic guns and by applying it to his Sun Magic to create some spells.

The battle starts and Eve immediately creates a blizzard around Glock. But he is underestimating a ranger's speed & agility. Glock has run quite far from his initial position right when Eve made the blizzard.

Then Glock starts attacking Eve using his double magic pistols. His pistols' designs are strange though. They look like alien pistols, like they come from Men in Black. They even look more like toys rather than real pistols.

Well, it's not just their look, but their firepower is similar to toys. The pistols are weak and so is the user. If not, then Glock would score at least a higher number than Hibiki in MPF. However, his pistols can shoot rapidly, they're faster than any pistol Ben has ever seen.

"Speed to cover the lack of power, huh? Not a bad idea, but it's also quite useless without enough power," says Ben while analyzing the pistols.

The rapid fire is so fast that it looks like there are no gaps between the bullets. It gives Eve a hard time because even if each bullet is weak, they just keep coming at him. However, the problem gets solved immediately when Eve creates an Igloo to protect himself from the bullets.

Then Eve creates a blizzard that covers the entire arena. The blizzard makes the temperature drop and those who don't have resistance to cold are shivering. Ben even needs to create a Heat Sphere to protect his guildmates and family.

The cold makes Glock shiver and stops moving. So Eve uses this chance to end the battle by focusing the blizzard on Glock and knocking him out. Eve from Blue Pegasus has won the battle and earns his team 10 points.

It is an interesting match, but not interesting enough for the high-level Mages. Luckily for them, the next match should be interesting enough. The next battle is between Fairy Tail and Sabertooth. Laxus will fight against Orga, it's the battle of Lightning.
