173 173. Teaching Natsu
The sparring between Ben and his 11 students has shown the gap between them. Now they know the 11's strengths, but they still don't know Ben's real strength because he hasn't shown it. He has just used his physical power and one spell in the sparring, so no one can see his full power.
"YOSH, IT'S MY TURN," shouts Natsu so suddenly as he rushes at Ben with his flame-covered fist.
Ben just smirks and increases the gravity around Natsu's left foot a little. The gravity holds Natsu's left foot and makes him fall on his face comically as if he is tripping on something. Most of the audiences really thought that way because they can't see the gravity spell that Ben used.
"Are you tripping on something, Natsu? You need to be careful while running," says Ben to mock Natsu.
"GRAAH! DON'T PLAY WITH ME! FIRE DRAGON'S ROAR!" shouts Natsu angrily as he shoots a big fire attack from his mouth.
Ben smirks and stays in his spot. He doesn't move at all and let the fire attack hit him. Everyone is surprised to see it and Natsu laughs happily because he thought he has succeeded in finally hitting Ben.
"HAHAHA, I'VE DONE IT," says Natsu happily.
But then their jaws drop when they see Natsu's fire gets sucked by something. Ben is eating Natsu's fire as if it's a snack. Of course, it shocks Natsu greatly because he is always the one who eats fire, not someone else.
"Hmm, so this is how Fire Dragon's fire taste like. Certainly better than a normal fire, but it's not hot enough. You should work on your fire's temperature more, Natsu. This is like a candle's fire," says Ben.
"Ca-Candle?" asks Natsu dejectedly.
"That's right. Let me show you how fire should be," says Ben as he makes a very small fire on his fingertip.
Ben flicks the fire to Natsu and the latter just watches it as it moves toward him. Natsu believes that the fire won't work on him because he is a Fire Dragon Slayer. But he regrets it as soon as he catches the fire with his right hand.
"GYAH! HOT! HOT! HOT!" shouts Natsu right after he grabs the fire.
Now everyone is really shocked to see Natsu can't handle a fire. They always thought that Natsu is immune to any kind of fire, so this really surprises them, even Makarov is surprised.
"Just because you are a Fire Dragon Slayer, doesn't mean that no fire can harm you. Sure, you are immune to fire, but it is called immunity for a reason. There is a limit to immunity and you will get affected by something beyond that immunity," says Ben.
"DAMN, NOT YET!" shouts Natsu as he charges at Ben with flame-covered fists.
Ben gets pissed and a tickmark appears on his temples as he says, "Can't you listen to me just for a moment?"
Natsu doesn't listen and rushes at Ben, making him more pissed. So when Natsu punches at him, he grabs the fist, and then he knocks Natsu's head from above. Natsu crashed onto the ground and fainted immediately.
"Damn, I'm trying to give him an important lesson because our Magic's properties are similar but he won't listen. Tch, I won't give you another lesson again from now on," grumbles Ben as he walks away pissedly, leaving the unconscious Natsu on the ground.
"Sigh, Natsu is really good at pissing people off," says Gray.
"That's Natsu for you," says Happy.
Ben's mood becomes bad that day and it makes no one challenge him again because they're afraid. Luckily, it just happens for a day and he returns to normal the next day.
"Sigh, it has just been a few days since I joined this guild, and I've gotten affected by their idiocy. It's very not me to act childish like that," laments Ben.
"HEY! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?" protests everyone.
"Think about it yourself," says Ben tiredly.
The others are protesting about it, but Ben just ignores them.
"Ben, can we talk for a moment?" asks Makarov.
Ben nods and follows Makarov to his office.
"What's the matter, Master?" asks Ben.
"You've got a message from the Council," says Makarov as he gives a letter to Ben.
Ben takes the letter and opens it. He is surprised when he read the letter, it's an offer to be a Wizard Saint. There are 2 vacant spots in the rank after Jose & Siegrain were removed. So now they try to fill the spots and Ben is one of the candidates.
"Actually, they've wanted you for a long time. But they don't dare to make trouble with Roubaul-san. He is just a spirit, but his influence is quite big because he's the only one who can seal Nirvana. So now with him gone, the Council tries to take you as a Wizard Saint," explains Makarov.
The Council wants Ben not just because of his strength, but also because he has a lot of contributions. His advanced motor engine model has improved Ishgar's transportation technology many years forward.
However, "I refuse. Being a Wizard Saint is a hassle."
"As I thought you will refuse. But you still need to go to the Council and refuse it directly," says Makarov.
"Eh~, can't I just send a letter?" asks Ben.
"No, they will get mad at you and it will be more troublesome. Besides, they say they want to discuss another business with you," says Makarov.
"Sigh, fine. But I don't want to go alone. Those old dudes are very troublesome," says Ben.
"Don't worry, I will go with you because you are my guild's member," says Makarov.
Ben and Makarov then plan to go to the Council next week. They don't know what the Council wants from Ben other than asking him to be a Wizard Saint. They just hope that it's not something bad because their guild's relationship with the Council is very bad.
"Ah, one more thing, Ben. It's not the Council request, but mine. You are a Magic Item crafter, right? Roubaul-san once said that your crafting ability has surpassed him, so I want to request something from you," says Makarov.
"Surpassing that old man? I'm still nowhere compared to him," says Ben.
Makarov smiles and says, "Well, but it should still be better than most craftsmen if Roubaul-san praised you like that. So here's my request, can you-."
Makarov suddenly stops talking because his body suddenly seems to get pulled to the sky and turns into light. Ben is surprised and tries to catch him but his hands just pass through the old man's body. Then he realizes that the building is also getting sucked and a loud rumbling sound is heard from outside.
Ben suddenly widens his eyes and says, "Wendy!"
He immediately teleports to the hall, he tried to, but he can't control his Magic Power so he can't use magic. Suddenly, his body also starts to get pulled along with the guild building. Ben tries to resist it but to no avail and he keeps getting pulled by a strong force.
A bright light then appears in front of him and a thundering sound can be heard from anywhere. The light and sound disappeared after some time and everything returns to normal. That would be the case if he doesn't find himself falling from the sky and crashing onto the ground in no time.
"Damn, why did I suddenly appear in the sky? And where is this?" asks Ben as he looks around.
He finds himself in a foreign place that has some floating islands.
Ben blinks his eyes in shock and says, "Seriously where is this?"
