Chapter 22 : God??

"Haha, are you finally scared?"

"But - it's too late!"

Ward suddenly opened his eyes!

"There is only one moment, cherish this moment while you're still alive!"

"Magnetic field -"

"Observe!"

He turned around and took a look!

Saw it!

That liar magician!

And

behind him, the vague

"."

half of his body.

After the other half, the trees, flowers, plants, barriers, including the mountain - vanished.

A large fan-shaped pit with a radius of one thousand meters and a depth of three meters replaced everything that was there before.

From extreme movement to extreme stillness, from existence to non-existence.

The transformation occurred in just a moment.

It was too sudden.

It was as sudden as a landscape painting that was about to be finished, but half of it was abruptly cut off with a sword.

"Why" was Ward's final utterance.

'Boom' This was the sound of everything being obliterated.

Only then did the two sounds reach Everit's ears.

Then the hurricane receded.

The red thread immediately wound into a ball and embedded deeply into the ground, securely safeguarding Everit's safety.

More than ten seconds passed.

The commotion outside died down.

The ball of red thread unraveled and slowly dispersed into natural magic power.

Everit grasped the cane with both hands, looking helpless as he watched the other half of the body slump backwards.

"See, if you don't heed good advice, you'll suffer the consequences."

He remained like this for a while.

Everit turned his head, facing the space beside him, and spoke in a gentle tone, as if conversing with himself: "Alright, don't cry, the person who saw you is already dead."

It was as though someone was conversing with him.

"Yes, yes, it's my fault. I failed to protect you."

"."

"After I return, I'll treat you to the rice specially provided by the royal family."

"."

"Hehehe." Everit chuckled. Rising to his feet, "You'll be delighted when you hear about the meal. You look so adorable when you smile. Don't take such trifles to heart."

"."

As if in response to some query, Everit's tone became solemn, as if he were earnestly reiterating the promise he made to his wife when they were exchanging vows.

"Don't worry, why would I ever resent you?"

"I still remember what I said back then -"

"I won't compel you to do anything you dislike. You needn't partake in battles you detest."

"Today was merely an accident. That fool must have wished to die when he tried to unveil my magic."

"From now on, you can still pursue your desires -"

"Do household chores, cook, tend to the garden, bask in the sunlight, Eat rice."

"You, me, we'll never have to change."

"."

Were these words of endearment?

In any case, they had the desired effect, and the issue was resolved.

"."

Everit promptly chuckled lightly again.

"Haha, it's too early for a girlfriend. Moreover, she might not be keen on washing dishes and cooking every day. You won't lose your job."

His expression suddenly shifted, and he exclaimed, "Quiet! Shut that mouth! Only a violent female gorilla with oversized onions could be capable of such nonsense!"

Silence followed.

"Beautiful?"

Silence persisted.

"What good is beauty, anyway?"

Silence again.

"Violent, foolish, and lacking grace! I am a nobleman of the kingdom—a viscount! Never would I entertain the thought of a woman like her."

More silence.

"Huh? You think nobody else could tolerate my wretched character? Are you mocking me?"

"Do you not understand my character by now? It's quite remarkable!"

"And I am exceedingly popular. Indeed!"

"If I desire a woman, I can have my way with one anytime."

Stillness.

"I shan't be intimidated by her!"

"And this matter has nothing to do with her!"

Everit, typically composed, began to grow agitated.

At that moment, there was a soft 'pop,' and something pink landed on Everit's face, warm and faintly fragrant.

"What in the—?"

Everit caught the object that had landed on his face.

It was a pink, newly worn women's sock.

"Look at this! How repulsive of her to fling socks at people's faces!"

Everit grimaced in disgust, intending to discard it, but then noticed something written on it.

With a mixture of repulsion and curiosity, he pinched the ends of the sock between his index fingers and thumbs to examine the writing.

[How pitiful did Crispy Goose look after the thrashing? Hahaha, it's truly gratifying. Snap a photo and send it to me. It'll brighten my day!]

"I wasn't thrashed!"

Everit flung the sock away in a fit of rage.

"."

"She's not caring, she's mocking me. You should stand with me!" Everit snapped at the empty space on his left.

"."

"I'm not angry, how could I be angry because of something like that?"

"."

Suddenly, Everit's expression shifted to a smile. Though it was forced, he still managed to maintain his usual demeanor and said, "Ah huh? Am I angry? No."

The other person seemed to have stopped talking to him.

"Chirp!"

A large gray-furred rat emerged from its burrow, scurried to the sock, and sniffed it curiously.

Everit was lightning fast, shooting with just a flick of his wrist!

'Boom'

A massive crater blasted open in the ground, obliterating everything in its path with violent magic.

"It's not wise to sniff anyone's socks, but especially not that of female orangutan's. She has no taste at all. She deserves what she got!"

Everit holstered his gun.

"Breathe--breathe--"

He took a few deep breaths to calm himself, then straightened his clothes and demeanor.

Forget about the unpleasantness.

Be true to yourself!

He reverted to his usual self just in time -

"Everit!" A voice rang out.

Erza, Lucy, Happy, and Gray appeared.

"Erza, what brings you here?" Everit asked, perplexed.

"!!!"

His companions remained silent, their gazes fixed on the sector-shaped devastation.

Erza was stunned into silence.

"Hey, hey, is this some kind of joke?" Gray's voice trembled.

"What in the world happened?" Lucy's legs felt like jelly, nearly giving way beneath her.

Happy plummeted from the sky, but managed to cling to Erza's armor, preventing a crash landing.

It took a while for the three humans and the cat to compose themselves.

Erza's throat constricted as she swallowed hard, then she inquired, "The commotion from your end was deafening, and we felt the surge of magic you unleashed. Who were you battling? How could this devastation occur? Is it even possible?"

"Did you set that trap?" Gray gulped.

"Hahaha, impossible. Only the gods of legend could achieve such power," Lucy forced a smile.

"God?" Happy exclaimed in shock. "Is Everit actually a god?!"
