7 The Deal

"A door, you know, a door. Its a thing you use to enter" the old man replied. The old man was severely confused by the boy. He had seen him break down his walls a few seconds ago, but was extremely polite about everything. He decided to tread with caution.

"I was just wondering if you knew where Alfalogia is. She has green scales and really nice wings, and big green eyes, and and..." he wanted to keep going but it made him sadder just imagining him. Just yesterday they said they would never separate.

"A dragon? No no no no, there are no dragons nearby. They have been extinct for years. We haven't seen one either."

"Oh, that's too bad." He couldn't hide his emotion of distraught and sadness over Alfalogia being missing. The worst part was that everything he saw was nothing like before. He had heard from his mother that there are others similar to himself, however, he had never interacted with them.

The smaller girl started to calm down. She was still terrified of what was happening. Then, a cold wind blew in. Divus didn't understand why this was happening. It was just summer Yesterday.

Then he asked the two, "Why is it close to winter? Is it not summer?"

"No, it is obviously close to winter. Else, why would it have cold breezes?"

Then with this, it hit Divus, he must have been transported to a different location in the world. He didn't know where they were in his previous location. Then he just needed to search for Alfalogia.

"Where are we?" said Divus, as he needed a starting point.

"Well, we're in a town called 'Coderall'. It's a pretty small town, but there's a large one nearby called "Magnolia, in that town they might have the information you are looking for. It's a very long walk, maybe 3-4 days because, god knows why this town is so far away from any profitable place."

Analyzing what was best to do in the situation Divus thought that it was best to go to that location. He could find information and maps to lead him home. "Point me in the direction, sir." Divus changed his tone seeing that the man, even though quite terrified before was able to calmly reason for his granddaughter's life, which earned his respect.

Seeing that the boy was quite powerful, being the merchant that he was and being quick on his feet, he decided to profit from the misunderstanding and the confused boy. "How about I lead you there while taking my merchant stand. There's a lot of turns and such, and it can be recuperations for the wall that your broke, for you to protect me, my daughter, and my cart. I barely am able to survive, so it's only natural being the good person you are to help me right?"

"What, why? Can't you just build something."

"No that costs money which I don't have." Responded the grey haired old man, trying to get a quick dollar out of the situation.

Divus had heard of money but never seen it in action. He thought it was just another unit used in math or something. Not quite understanding how to proceed, and he did not want to be a bad person and leave some out to die, he responded with: "Fine, I'll let you lead me the way then."

After about a minute of standing in silence, Divus said: "Okay, let's go now."

"Woah, Woah, Woah, Woah!" The elderly man said. "That's impossible, I need to get my stand ready, pack my clothes, and get the exact route down okay? Give me a day at least."

Clearly annoyed, Divus knew there was nothing he could do because he had already agreed to help. He was regretting his decision already. He did feel bad for terrifying this grandfather and his granddaughter, but not that bad. "Okay, I'll be outside waiting."

He then took one last look at the old man who couldn't keep back his smile at the deal he made, and finally at the still terrified girl, although better than before. He went outside and found a spot to lay down. And then started to dowse off to the very stressful part of the day already.
