8 Let's get engaged

"Big fan Miss Jian." He quickly pulled out a notepad and pen looking like a teenager with a crush.

Jian Tang smiled gracefully giving him an autograph and was shown by the private room they had the meeting in. Li Jie followed behind her.

"Mother, you are still pretty famous! You shouldn't have quit" Li Jie whispered, knowing fully well she has retired from the film industry for almost 19 years.

"Of course, I am. But I hate signing and taking pictures. And my life is pretty good now." Jian Tang spoke with confidence but even she knew how hollow her words were. "Not to mention I got a good looking husband and son. All day I only have to play cards with the other rich wife or attend parties. Who wouldn't want this life."

Li Jie was silent during the whole conversation. But soon the silence got crushed by Leng Rui.

[Host, Main villain detected once again]

[Alert, alert!] Li Jie's lips turned into a thin line at system 420's words.

"Of course who wouldn't envy the socialite madam Li." Leng Rui walked in with his younger sister. Soon the four of them sat at the round table. Li Jie peeked at Leng Jiangzhu sitting opposite to him who returned his sentiments. 'Both of them wanted to get out of this freezer. Li jie took a bite of the food in front of him and got hooked. He quickly took a second bite. Seeing his satisfied expression Leng Jiangzhu also started eating. Either way she didn't care anymore.

"Mr Leng the engagement was something the older generation decided,the children are still quite young we better break this engagement. The Li family will compensate Miss Leng to the best of our ability. So it's better for Miss Leng to decide it herself rather than your older brother deciding things for her." Jian Tang changed the focus from Leng Rui to Leng Jiangzhu who was surprised by this unwanted attention all of a sudden. It was always better to take the weakest member first. Jian Tang looked at Leng Jiangzhu with a soft smile but her eyes were calculative.

"Ah…aunty?" Leng Jiangzhu didn't know what to say as she wasn't prepared for anything. "I think my brother knows the best for me. You can trust him." She finally escaped the enchanting socialite. She was just some brought up spoiled by her parents unlike Jian Tang, who could change the waves in the social world however she wanted.

But Jian Tang wasn't happy with her answer and the beauty frowned. But to her surprise her hand was comforted by her son under the table. 'Ah! The father and son were two peas in a pod.' She thought to herself before resuming her straight face with a soft smile.

Leng Rui seemed to have detected their small moment as his eyes seemed to have shifted towards Li Jie next. If Jian Tang was going to bring his sister in the game, why should he leave her son alone? Not like I planned on leaving Li Jie alone from the start.

"Mrs Li and young master Li, people usually think of me as a ruthless person but the fact is I hate dirtying my hands as you can see. So it's best if you agree to the engagement if you don't want me to be the reason young master Li Jie loses his position as the heir." Leng Rui's words left everyone in the room speechless. No one could tell at the moment he hid a dark personality behind that smile. But Jian Tang was aware of it and so was Li Jie due to him clearly knowing Leng Rui was the Main villain of this world. Him having a dark personality as the main villain was expected.

"Not to mention if young master Li is my partner I will surely provide assistance to him being the heir of the Li family. But if he declines I don't mind being the biggest obstacle in his route." Li Jie frowned at Leng Rui this bastard's words but he didn't care about being the heir so he didn't make the move.

But Jian Tang wasn't like him, she was shaking with anger due to Leng Rui's words. "Do you think we will stay calm if you do that Mr Leng? Don't forget the Li family is not weaker than the Leng family. And Li Jie is my only son." The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned hostile. But Leng Rui seemed as if he didn't notice it and continued speaking.

"Is that Mrs Li? I also don't mind showing you how weak your family is compared to your family. But we can both save our breaths with just young master Li's approval."

"You…" Jian Tang felt speechless at the shamelessness of Leng Rui but before she could find her words Li Jie had spoken.

"What is it for me if I agree? I actually don't care what help you will provide me in being heir. I am the only child of my father who will be the heir if not me." The other three were speechless at his confidence. Right, when Li Jie spoke it felt like confidence rather than arrogance. Leng Rui's smile grew wider at those words, almost sending shivers down his sister's spine.

"How about the 5% shares of Li co-operation? Either way the family has been keeping them for my future partner. Don't worry you will only get more benefits the more you stay with me." Leng Rui spoke clearly knowing Li Jie would accept his offer.

[No host doesn't accept it. It's the Main Villain. He is definitely planning something.] Li Jie acted as if he heard nothing. Nor did he acknowledge the tightened grip from Jian Tang on his hand.

"Okay, Mr Leng. I accept your offer." Li Jie spoke leaving Jian Tang in surprise. She wanted to retort his words but at the same time she could just brush off the decision her son made himself. Even if it was the most stupid decision she ever saw.

"Ah'Jie…" Jian Tang gave Li Jie a disapproving look. Her disappointment was clear. But the things that have happened couldn't be reversed.
