11 Double-Crosser

Her feet dangled over the edge of the building she was on top of. Down below the minuscule people and cars moved towards their own destinations, and she watched them in fascination. Beside her, M21 and M24 were having a conversation about the vampire, and she couldn't help but to interrupt.

"So where is he now?"

"He decided to stay home and lay low." M21 answered her question and continued, "that was the wisest decision he could've made. He would be fearing for his life now. It's fun to corner a mouse."

"Heheh..." Ji-ae awkwardly joined in his laughter.

She had been instructed to keep an eye on the three of them and report to Frankie and Rai whatever she could, but right now there was nothing she could tell them.

Looks like she'll have to stay close to them for a while longer.

"Master, a guard at Shinwoo's apartment went missing last night." Frankie informed Rai, who was flipping through some papers. "The body hasn't been found yet. However, judging by the blood, it looks like he has been murdered. The vampire seems to have gone there to attack Shinwoo, but killed the guard when he was spotted."

"So that means that the students are the actual targets and they have no intention to stop hunting." Ji-ae added onto what Frankenstein was saying and sat beside Rai on the sofa.

"Ji, you're back." Frankenstein bowed his head in greeting and then asked, "did you find out anything? Like where their hideout is located?"

Ji-ae lifted her head from where she was leaning on Rai's shoulder and replied, "nothing of importance. They're keeping a tight-lid on things, meaning they don't trust me yet."

She sighed and leant her head back. Things were too tiring lately, but she had to keep on going. Frankie and Rai had helped her so much, with her loss of memories and everything else, so she would do anything to help them both. It was the least she could do.

Her eyes closed and she continued to listen to their conversation.

"After you disappeared I stayed under the radar, and then when Ji-ae awoke from her own sleep she joined me in preparing for any possible outcome. I made no moves to hide my presence master. Though you're back now, no one should know of our existence. We have to be extra careful as we still don't know what happened to you."

"But still..." Rai spoke and Ji-ae opened her eyes to observe him, "we can't just sit here and stay still when there are students in danger."

Frankie showed a close-eyed smile and said, "yes master."

Ji-ae observed the abandoned building they were currently occupying and grimaced. "Why did we have to do this here?"

"Stop complaining, we had to do it here. Anywhere else and we would've been caught. I thought you were smart?" M21 rapped her lightly on the head and chuckled when she winced.

They then heard some movement coming from the hostage and the girl opened her eyes, only to see M21 in front of her, Ji-ae just behind.

"Ji?" The look of disbelief in the girl's eyes stung Ji-ae's chest, but she had to hide the pain she felt. "Why... are you doing this to me? Why did you bring me here?"

"Shut up," M21's voice was low and rough, then it turned deadly, "you talking so much makes me want to kill you."

"Hey M, go easy on the girl," Ji-ae knelt down next to him and squeezed Yuna's shoulder, a mocking smile gracing her lips, "can't you see the poor girl is frightened?"

"They're here." M24 interrupted them and gestured towards the door, that was now being swung open by Shinwoo and Ikhan.

"Yuna!"

The two teens skidded to a halt and gaped at the sight of Ji-ae being with the ones who had kidnapped Yuna. They had thought they knew her, but now it seemed like they knew nothing at all.

"That was quick. It seems you ran over here without any hesitation, huh? One of you isn't here, but that's not a problem."

"So shall we get started?"
