29 The Profound Knowledge of True Edge

This chapter starts out in Third Person

As Ji Chen and Mu Lu heard a *thud* noise, they stopped their arguing and looked over to where the sound had come from.

"What are you doing? Don't you know that even the tiniest bit of pressure could be lethal to those in the lower realms?"

Mu Lu chided. Ji Chen's face seemed to have many wrinkles hearing Mu Lu.

"I didn't think that the bug would be down so easily! I hadn't even powered up yet!"

Ji Chen retorted.

"Fool! You think that you need to power up in such a low realm? You were saying that I would only get my feet dirty if I was to kill such a bug, now that you've done something wrong, you shift the blame?"

Mu Lu countered. He sighed immediately afterwards:

"Sigh. We're wasting too much time arguing about nothing. Check if the bug is dead or not."

Becoming quite for a few seconds, Ji Chen looked Mu Lu into the face and asked:

"What should we do if it's dead? I mean, I'm down with either reducing the pressure for the soul, after all, we did just kill it by accident..."

Before Ji Chen had finished his sentence, Mu Lu looked at him gruntingly. He spoke in an annoyed voice:

"What do you mean 'we'? I would've never done something so stupid as to release my aura in such a low-level plane of existence!"

Ji Chen wanted to retort, but he had no ways to. Everything that Mu Lu had said was most likely fact.

[Beep!]

Ji Chen and Mu Lu's focus was directed towards the beeping noise. It also made Ji Chen remember the horrid things that had happened minutes prior.

"F***, that system is back!"

Ji Chen was the first to start swearing. His addiction to curse was as frequent as it could be. He had not gotten used to the censoring in his words, this only triggered him more:

"The sh*tty system! What have those old bastards done to make this thing so irritating!"

Ji Chen spat.

[The System brings good news!]

It didn't have it's usual MLG voice. It seemed to be plain and dull. The tone was also flat and non-binary. This had calmed Ji Chen.

"What is the news?"

Ji Chen asked.

[Beep!]

[The system has added 300 points to the host's status because of the accomplishment of the quest]

Ji Chen nodded. He was trying not to get triggered by the Beeping sound. It had already become a hindrance and a pain to his ears.

"What do I do to close this thing again?"

Ji Chen questioned Mu Lu. He was thinking of Mu Lu as the expert that knew The System the best.

"Sigh. Didn't I say it already, it is smart enough for you to just use your own words to close the tab!"

Mu Lu mockingly sighed.

"You don't have to be such a chuck nugget!"

Ji Chen retorted.

"A chuck nugget?"

Mu Lu repeated.

"I can't say any curses. The next best way is just to use the most random words to hold you back!"

Ji Chen replied back. He had the smug face that you would only find on self-confident idiots.

"Such a dumb idea!"

Mu Lu struck his left palm with his right hand. He nodded as if confirming his sentence.

"Just what did you need anyway from those points?"

Mu Lu changed the subject. That was something he was curious about, what would Ji Chen have in his mind that he would desperately want to buy?

"Nothing much really, I just wanted one thing."

Ji Chen responded. They really weren't paying attention to the Marie that laid inside the bushes.

He started typing in the search bar of the store of The System.

"Didn't you want to know how to close The System? How come you started typing already? Did you already forget what you were about to get?"

Mu Lu edged. It caused Ji Chen to smile widely. Though he was smiling, he had a vein bulging on his forehead:

"What do you mean? I didn't forget anything!"

Mu Lu clicked his tongue while making the same face as Ji Chen, a very wide smile with a vein bulging on his forehead.

"Then let's continue, what do you want?"

Ji Chen retained his face the same way through Mu Lu talking, surprisingly.

He typed his words slowly and clearly: Types of Profound Knowledge

Mu Lu began nodding his head. Profound Knowledge was one of the hardest things to obtain, even for a higher realm. Profound Knowledge would allow for one to have instant mastery over the piece of knowledge that they get. Many gave legendary inheritances, others, skills that would cause even those with higher realms to quake in their boots.

But the question here was what type of Profound Knowledge did a Divine Realmed being like Ji Chen want? Such things would surely be useless, unless one had an opponent, no?

Words began to appear onto the bright blue screen:

---

Search - Types of Profound Knowledge

Results - 342,953 [Results put through the filter: below 300 points and No Multiverse accessories]

And the list went on and on. Mu Lu's eyes were stuck to the screen as he checked out many names.

"How come you are still looking at this screen? Haven't you already searched everything?"

Ji Chen naively asked. Mu Lu had a weird expression on his face.

"I never had this many points. It was too difficult to gather them up. The maximum I had was around a few hundred. There are still many things that I haven't searched for myself. In fact, since I could never afford any type of Profound Knowledge, I never searched it."

Ji Chen nodded.

Knowledge was expensive. There were many things that couldn't be obtained manually, by just cultivating. Alchemy was one such example. There were trillions of millions of unique plant breeds that could be used just to make one combination of Qi Restoring potion. Knowledge, age and inheritance was what made a great alchemist. Higher ranked ingredients didn't just make something better, there were many pills or potions that hadn't even been touched or discovered yet.

Profound Knowledge was what separated such a thing from impossible to possible in a couple of seconds. It was either the personality or knowledge that you had always wanted or even a new perspective to view your existence, Profound Knowledge could provide it all!

"What do you want anyway?"

Mu Lu curiously asked. It seemed that he was actually quite weak to cliffs.

"Hahaha~ you want to know?"

Ji Chen laughed.

"Just tell me already!"

Mu Lu blurted.

Ji Chen had started typing on the blue screen once again: The Profound Knowledge of True Edge.
