26 The Beast raises his 'stick'

When the beast moved, the ground shook, the clouds started to split apart and parts of the ground clustered. This made many guards dumbstruck, they could do nothing but watch the mighty beast slowly start to move towards me.

"What are you all doing? Snap out of it!"

I shouted. This did nothing. they seemed as if they were unable to move. Just the air of superiority that the beast carried was like heaven and hell compared to father, the lord that they worshipped.

Lard was the one least in a daze. He was moving, but quite slowly, almost walking pace.

"Lard what are you doing? Are you supposed to protect me or are you going to just stay there standing!?"

I snapped at Lard. His eyes became clear and his face was pale:

"Young miss... I expected you to have already left!"

He seemed to have confusion hidden within his eyes. Trying to show his strong side was part of being a guard leader. If he didn't show confidence or strength, then how could he expect to get hired or even achieve a goal.

"Do you think that I could move that easily? Look how hard it is just for you to walk, I'm only 16 after all!"

That was my all time excuse: 'I'm 16 after all'. It was an excuse that made the most, yet least sense. In a way, I'm admitting defeat that I am indeed weaker than Lard, yet I was also claiming that I had more to grow into.

"Yes, I know young lady!"

Lard nodded his head, it seemed as if he was an understanding loyal troop, yet it was the exact opposite. I could tell that he was just clicking his tongue inside his mind about how he was superior to me. He, a retired and injured veteran, that was the right-hand man of father wouldn't just give into my scolding that easily.

Seeing the sharp-fanged Lion with his red eyes, I could feel fear crawl up my back.

-I haven't experienced such a feeling since I was a newborn child!

Though I was mocking myself in my mind, I was trying to create baseless humour to help myself overcome such a feeling.

"Lard!"

I spat. I had really lost all sense of nobility. I had become just as ill-mannered as a barbarian.

"Yes my lady!"

Lard spoke back. He had started to raise his sword high up above his head.

"Shining Shimmer!"

A bright light obstructed the vision of many, it also healed wounds and made the others feel a strange sense of comfort. It blocked the heavy and suffocating feeling of fear that the lustful beast caused.

A warm feeling had built up within me too, it seemed to make me forget about the beast for a couple of seconds.

"If this thing wasn't just playing around, it could probably have already ran up in front of me. This speed is really too slow. Tsk, he is treating me like his toy, he wants to enjoy me..."

My tone was full of delight yet anger. I didn't like being played around with. I had never been played around with since I was a child. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Spitting out blood, Lard started to yell:

"What are you all waiting for? We were all talking trash about this big guys lust, have you all lost it already!"

I knew that Lard wasn't feeling so good right now. He was already in bad shape due to him using 'Shining Shimmer'. Many may not know, but it was actually a move that was used best in one short burst. It was one of the only {Xiantian Cultivation Manuals}, so many knew of its existence, but never would it be known that is was meant to be used for suicide bombing!

'Shining Shimmer' was quite popular among the community as it was mostly a cultivation manual that would balance strength, speed and vitality. But, 'Shining Shimmer' could be modified and remodelled to create the strongest suicide move. It was unnamed because father had yet to decide.

This unnamed move would cause massive damage to the internal organs in the user's body and would almost cause them instant death if not for the fact that it would block out the sensitivity of pain for a couple of minutes. During this period, the body of the user would be able to get the maximum performance out of their body.

So where did the healing and refresh come from? Well, it came from the user as well. The lack of pain and the guaranteed death made for the pores that absorb Qi, to be opened up to the maximum. The Qi could be used in any way that the host would want. Since Qi could theoretically be transformed into almost anything, it could act as a healing mechanic that would trigger that could, well... Heal others!

Such secrets were hidden quite deep within the family and not many really knew such a thing existed in 'Shining Shimmer'.

The bright light had faded out and I could see that the beast's eyes were even redder. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that I could 'feel' the lust from it.

"Miss stay back! It is having a 'reaction'!"

Lard warned. Hearing such a thing, I blushed. But knowing that these people were trying their best to protect me, I started to move South again.

I had run a few hundred metres in a second or two before I lost to the urge of looking back. What I saw shocked me...

I could see that the beast had started to stand up, it's 'pointy stick' raised and somehow, it's red eyes yet again redder. I was starting to think that I wouldn't be able to see the pupils if the beast were in more heat.

"Attack!"

My ears were almost blasted apart from Lard's cry. Even though I was hundreds of metres away, his cry still resounded in my ears.

Now that the guards had been empowered by Lard's 'Shining Shimmer', I could see how excited and battle-hungry they were to test the limits of their bodies. You have to know, when fighting normally, nobody would ever do such a suicidal move like 'going all out'. That would be a dumb and retarded move. As in the battlefield, you didn't just have one enemy, you had many! If you lost all your strength fighting one person, then how could you even fight more?

There were also other factors that could be added to the mix:

You would never punch a wall with your full strength, would you? It would damage your hand and you would know that the wall was too hard for you to destroy.

But at this moment, those guards knew that death was the only answer if they couldn't figure out how to defeat the beast. It was natural to pick the option with a higher rate of survival. This was why a suicidal army was one of the most dangerous things you could fight..
