40 Anticlimactic

Ji Chen was mocking himself inside his mind. Marie, seeing Ji Chen laughing tried to make a dash for the door, but Ji Chen was already there before her, scaring her.

"What do you want? My father has everything, he can even grant you a position inside of the government!"

Marie tried to incite Ji Chen with the position that he could earn if he let her go, but Ji Chen had no reaction in on his face. He was still laughing, which made Marie shiver.

"Wha...What do you want?"

Marie had something in her mind, but she was too scared to voice it out.

"Do you think I would care about your body?"

Ji Chen, still laughing, questioned Marie, mockingly.

"What else could a beast like you want?"

Marie was starting to grimace. She knew how many people had secretly lusted after her body. It drove them, she may not be afraid to die, but losing her chastity was something that she wished would never happen. Princes only existed in fiction, in reality, there was no prince charming!

"You're free, get out!"

Ji Chen waved his hand and stopped laughing. He had a serious face that showed how displeased he was. He could see through Marie, she was clearly a spoiled twat that thought she was special.

"What?"

Marie, shocked at Ji Chen sudden change of mood, blurted.

"What do you think? This is some free place that you could stay at? If I didn't feel guilty for what I did to you, then I wouldn't have cared even if you were the prettiest women I've ever seen!"

Ji Chen snorted. He wasn't a babysitter and he certainly wasn't her protector.

-Why should I have to care?

Was what Ji Chen was thinking. He never really had the privilege of being a chooser, so he hated those who flaunted their rights and wealth.

"Huh? Then why did you block me?"

Marie, confused at Ji Chen, asked in a sceptical tone.

"Do you think you can just dash out of here?"

Ji Chen pointed at a window located in the room and then pushed Marie closer to it:

"Isn't that where you should be 'escaping' from? I'm a devilish creature, I tell you!"

Ji Chen mockingly played along with Marie. It was clear that he was disdaining at Marie for her attitude towards him.

Marie didn't care about Ji Chen and wanted to jump out of the window as soon as possible, but that was only until she found that her cultivation was not just 'quite broken' it was 'completely broken'! She was back to the start! It meant that she had to start cultivation all over again!

Without cultivation, she could never survive a fall from the height of the fort!

Falling onto her knees, she started to show despair in her eyes. Ji Chen didn't pay attention and had already started to walk out of the door. He had put up a barrier, blocking Marie in the room. Though it may sound harsh and unmanly, Ji Chen wasn't the kindest to those who tried to put other's down, especially if it was him.

[Beep!]

[Quest completed: Wake up Marie Rox!]

Ji Chen was annoyed that the beeping sound was back, but he could only excitedly watch as he waited in anticipation for his reward. Even he, as a Divine was interested in what the limits and heights of The System were.

[Reward: 20 points]

And that was it...

Ji Chen was waiting for about a minute or two, waiting to see if something else appeared other than just the points, but all that he had gotten was a disappointment.

"That was anticlimactic!"

Ji Chen sighed in disappointment. He was getting increasingly salty about even waking Marie up, he should've just trusted Mu Lu and killed her the moment he sensed her sneaking around, preventing The System giving him the quest! But at that moment:

[Beep!]

Ji Chen's attention was grabbed by The System's beep. He was expecting another reward for waking Marie up, but once again, disappointment was the only emotion that flooded him:

[New Quest!]

Ji Chen's attention wouldn't be grabbed unless it interested him. If the first reward wasn't rewarding, wouldn' his expectations of The System drop? He had seen many things in The System that he would love to have, but The System really didn't give him that much from the Quest.

"Do I have to?"

Ji Chen asked the bright blue screen in front of him. The MLG voice did indeed reply. It seemed that it was now awake.

[Beep!]

[Responding to host. The quests are not mandatory, though, if you don't do the quest, you will suffer a day of a headache for each quest lost]

Ji Chen seemed to be wondering if it was worth it.

"Headache, can I have an example?"

Ji Chen would regret such a desecion till forever...

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh"

Ji Chen had only experienced such a pain for a minute and he had already started to scream. After it ended, Ji Chen had started to phant. He was in his fort, and had put a sound barrier, blocking the noise outside and inside.

"Wasn't that pain worse than the one from before!?"

Ji Chen had a angry face, showing regret about why he had even asked such a dumb question like 'example'.

[Beep!]

[Responding to host. The pain from before was due to The System reading the host's memories. The pain from now is The System attacking the host]

Ji Chen was left speechless. What System attacked their host? Was this a suicide System?

"Just tell me the quest."

Ji Chen sighed while asking.
