94 She is Crazy

(Hope POV)

Why did I accept this job!! Everyone else is doing fun stuff!!!

Well, Hayley keeping a fridge working doesn't sound fun either… but at least she is using her power while doing it!!

I wish I could be at school.

Sigh~

I was in front of the library I have to work in. I think is the third time I sigh.

Why didn't Rose get eidetic memory instead of me! She would have fun doing this!

I gathered my courage and opened the door to get inside.

Wow… so many books. I have never seen so many. The last time I saw a library, it was on my computer. I wonder from where all this came from.

An old woman with glasses that remind me of my literature teacher was looking at me.

"Hope Davies?"

Oh crap, she is my literature teacher!!

"Good morning Mr. Galloway."

"What are you doing here? I never thought of you as the bookworm type."

"I'm not… "

Should I talk about my eidetic memory??

"…but I thought that since there is no way I can go college now reading some books while at work can't hurt."

Good job Hope you totally nailed it!

"I thought you didn't want to go to college."

What's wrong with you? Are you a detective?...

"Yeah but… Ummm… the option was still there if I changed my mind."

I gave her a wry smile, and she smiled back at me.

"It's good that at least someone got some perspective with what happened… some people weren't that lucky."

"What do you mean?"

My first thought was that she wanted to talk about a close relative that died or something but her next words made me want to laugh.

"Your friend Rose… poor girl, I think that this situation made drove her crazy."

"Rose? What wrong with her."

"She came early in the morning and have been reading metaphysic and parapsychology book all morning while talking alone."

I was about to explain about her invisible pet and her weird soul related power… but I need to seriously talk with Spence what I can tell and what is a secret?!?!

"Well, she always was weird…"

I'm sorry Rose…

"Well you know her better than me, was she always like this?"

I thought for a second.

"Not really, when we were little, she always talked with her teddy bear, but besides that, she was only shy."

"Yeah, it probably because of the meteor shower. Do you think you can talk to her? maybe she is just confused and speaking with a friend might help her."

"Sure no problem, oh I'm supposed to hand this to you."

I gave her the assignment letter, and she read it.

"Everything is in order, when Rose came this morning, I thought it was going to be her. Let me show you around. You will get used to the place in no time."

She showed me where everything was. Usually, it would be a nightmare moving around this place, but after I saw it once, I could even remember where every book was located.

I saw Rose focused on a book while Mrs. Galloway showed me around.

"Well that's all, your partner should arrive at any moment, he is late already. I'm out to get lunch, and I have other things to do in the afternoon, so if you have any doubts, you can ask him, no one come here at this time, so you should try to talk with Rose and look around."

"Yes. Mrs. Galloway, and don't worry about Rose it might be just a phase."

"I hope so, see you tomorrow."

I moved my hand to say goodbye to my old teacher and moved to talk with Rose, she was so focused on the book that didn't notice me…

I slowly got behind her and blow her ear.

She shivered and screamed

"Kyaa!"

She turned around scared and with small tears on her eyes. I don't know why but every time I do this, I found it funnier.

"Hope!!! You scare me to death, why you keep doing that you know I hate it!!"

I had smile tears on my eyes from holding my laugh.

"Sorry, sorry, but you were so defenseless that I couldn't stop myself."

She was looking at me with anger. I had to change the subject fast to prevent her from becoming even angrier.

"By the way, Mrs. Galloway thinks that you are crazy."

"Don't change the subject Hope! Wait why would she think that?"

"Because her favorite student suddenly decided to read weird stuff while talking with her invisible pet OUT LOUD!! Don't you have a mental connection for that??"

She blushed when I told her that.

"Yes, but I she likes to hear my voice… does she really think I'm crazy??"

"Yep, she asked me to talk with you to take you back to the right path."

"…this is going to be difficult to explain."

"Yeah… why are you even reading this stuff?"

"Since my power is related to souls I looked for books that talked about it from different points of view since I already read philosophy before I wanted to complement it with more occult stuff…"

I sighed again.

"Well, I think the problem was you talking alone, so as long as you don't talk alone while reading, no one else would think that you are crazy… besides the people that already know you."

"Hey!"

"Sorry, sorry, I have to leave you I need to work."

"Aren't you supposed to work in the afternoon?"

"It is afternoon…"

"What!! I was supposed to go hunt with Spence!"

She run away without even saying goodbye and left me with a pile of books to sort…

(Dante POV)

This was by far the worst decision I have ever taken.

It all started fine, they all went back to their sits, I got on the professor table. And began to explain the doubts they had from the previous classes.

It was different than teaching just Dana, making games and that sort of stuff was difficult, so I had to limit myself to explain. Since I don't have thumbs, I ask Dana to be my assistant.

From their memories, I knew that in school they all have digital tablets. Usually, the information is shown there, in a 2D format or a 3D hologram. Now we only have a whiteboard and a blue marker.

Since Dana already knew what I was explaining, there was no harm to her in helping me doing some drawings, so I gave her precise instructions while I taught.

It didn't even take five minutes for her to get bored and start to draw a comic of me explaining everything.

It was not the class version I'm doing now but the one I did with her.

It was quite a good draw, I have to give her that. She drew herself there asking the doubt she had making it just like what happened yesterday.

I stop explaining because everyone focused on Dana's comic.

I girl raised her hand and asked.

"It's true that if we do well, we can touch your paws? My cat hates that, he even scratched me when I tried a couple days ago!!"

Oh crap…

That was the beginning of the end when Dana drew herself hugging me and touching my paws as rewards, I got surrounded, even if it was supposed to be a reward and I told them that I had no way to escape.

Dana was looking with satisfaction her comic when the door opened.

The professor saved my paws from being tainted, but was surprised with the situation, a new little girl made a comic on the whiteboard with a cat explaining perfectly one of the previous topics. And a bunch of kids were surrounding a cat with bad intentions.

I took my chance and ran to hide behind Dana.

He looked at the whiteboard and then at the marker on Dana's hand…

"Where you learn this?"

"Dante taught me."

"Who is Dante?"

She pointed at me.

He thought that it was me in the drawing but that someone else explained it to her before.

"I mean what the cat says, who taught you that."

I don't want to talk… he wants to recruit me as a professor…

"Dante taught me that yesterday, he can talk in my mind."

Great now he thinks that she is crazy… I mean I know that a telepath cat it's weird but why does everybody think that just humans got mind powers? Besides me, there is a mind-reading hamster, though he doesn't understand what he sees there, so it is pretty useless… And there is also canary that can convey his feelings to let his owner knows when he is hungry.

I'm not that weird right?

"I taught her yesterday…"

He looked at me like if he saw a ghost. Come on you have seen people flying, and you got scared by a cat?

Again with the joke thingy? Why everyone thinks that there is a telepath that is making them believe they are talking with a cat? No one is that bored…

"it's for you to believe it or not since you are already here I'll take my leave…"

I tried to leave and blocked the professor's idea of making me a math professor for the kids when he started to notice that it was really me the one talking…

There is no way I will risk my paws like that again.
