175 Routine Work

(Isabella POV)

After Waking up early, as usual, I went to the apartment to cook for Spencer and the others. When I started to do that, I always thought of waking up Dana, but Dante's presence changed that, after all, he always knows what is happening everywhere, so there is no harm in leaving her in the apartment.

Spencer has been amazing with us. Even if the rescue might have something to do with a mission at the time, he accepted us into the group, was willing to share his secrets with me and even gave me an ability that will help a lot in my part-time job, so I will always be grateful for what he has done for us.

I don't have the means to repay his kindness, thanks to his presence I have the time to take care of Dana in the afternoons, something that most of the other workers don't have and I even get paid the same as them.

It wasn't much but after being a stay home mom for a few years cooking, cleaning, and doing the laundry felt like if I was back to my normal life, all that was left was for my life come back to how it was before is to see my husband open that front door and come into the house. That's unlikely to happen though.

As every day I made breakfast for everyone. I noticed that we are almost out of cereal.

I'm the one that goes shopping groceries too and the amount of stuff that I bought always seem to be more than the other families, the clerk is kind enough to help me with the bags most of the time. I tried to ask if there was a way to tip him some credits, but he said that they were not transferable, so I just gave him a box of juice from time to time.

Now with Emma, Alfred and Watson here too, I have to buy even more stuff I should see if one of them can come with me to help me carry the bags… I will ask them later.

Every account has a limit accordingly to the number of family members in our case it's ten, and we can buy a little extra because of the pets. When I talked about it with Hayley's dad, he decided to keep his account by himself, but he eats with us from time to time anyway.

None of these procedures are done by themselves, so I have been adding "family members" as they arrive. For that, there is an office which had the details of the people of the city. Cai-Cai was difficult to add… in the end Dr. Harting had to interfere to get the authorization for her to be counted as a pet.

I have seen the details of the account once, and the amount that Spencer and Rose get from the high profile mission is already high enough to support all of us.

Since Rose is not an adult yet, so her points are enhanced, I don't know how much but she got paid better for the same job than a normal adult, and Dana receives points for being a kid. Those are measures for kids and teenagers to be fine in the case they became orphans.

The rest had more or less standard "salaries unless they participate on a high profile mission."

A typical salary is about 10 points, with 8 points you can have a portion of normal food and water for the day. Then depending on the job, the amount goes up.

Ten points are also what they gave the kids daily.

I receive the salary of a nurse that it's about 20, I should earn less since I work just half a day, but they didn't make the cut as they should. Gerhard is around the same amount. Hope gets the regular salary of 10. About Rose and Spencer they regularly receive significant amounts whenever they are in a mission, Spencer has bonuses because of his responsibilities, and Rose gets more for being a teenager.

When I noticed the amount, they earn I understood that there was actually no need for me to work but I enjoy it, and I'm not a freeloader.

I discovered this when I went to add Emma and the other two guys. I looked at the records, so far they have earned thousands each, the evacuation mission alone was almost a thousand points for Spencer and a little less for Rose.

When the guy that was talking to me noticed that, he thought that it was a mistake and started to talk to a bunch of people that were as surprised as him. Later they found the authorization of the mission from Dr. Harting and knew why it was that amount.

It was a nice breakfast with everyone there in high spirits, even G seemed to be energetic which was unusual for him in the morning. I know the effects of the tickets myself, so I get how he should be feeling.

After washing the dishes, I left with my little Dana to my job.

After giving her a peck on her cheek, I dropped her on the classroom and went to get ready for my morning rounds.

I changed my clothes and took a look at the charts. Zak was discharged, I think this should be Johanna last day here too.

After looking if there were any changes I went to the rooms.

The first one was a general one with three people on it. Usually, it shouldn't be like this, but we are short in space.

I looked carefully and took their vitals and talked to them for a while. I also checked their wounds to be sure that there were no infections. This was the routine.

While I was checking them I used my eyes shortly, the first day I tried to keep them on most of the time but it was difficult and made my head hurt, so I took Spencer's advice and used them just when I needed.

In front of me different parts of the body where highlighted on different tones. The wound still needs to heal, but there are no sign of infections and doesn't seem to be any other problems. I repeated the process with all three of them as we talked. I could notice that they were trying to hit on me, but I just ignored the comments with a smile as I was used to.

I updated the charts and left to the next room, this had two people. They both came here from the Aurora Clinic, I was told that the boy had no chances, but the girl was a particular case, and they will figure out a way to help her.

There were tubes on both of them to help them feed and evacuate. I got used to talking to the girl while I attended them, wet their lips, clean them and of course, check that there are doing okay. Even if I was told that the boy has no way to be saved I treated both of them the same.

The next room was a single one.

"Isabella! I was so bored tell me everything about what had happened while I'm here."

I smiled, every day when I enter this room, Johanna is eager to hear everything that has happened. Her curiosity is what anyone would expect from her, she used to be a journalist after all.

I started the routine taking her vitals checking the leg wound. It was a miracle that it wasn't infected, but whenever I asked about it, she told me that it was something that she wanted to forget. As I checked her, I was wondering if I should tell her or not.

"I don't know you know that Spencer works on secret stuff, so I don't know too much about this either."

"Oh, come on! I will know about it later anyway, right? I'm going to be discharged soon, so just tell me!!"

"… Ok but I want you to be calm ok?"

Noticing the change in my tone, she turned serious.

"Did something happen?"

"It's good don't worry… a group led by Spencer went into the NDR base…"

At the mention of the NDR base, she became paler and interrupted me without letting me finish.

"is everyone ok?!?"

"I said that is something good and not to worry… now let me finish."

"Ought, sorry so everyone is ok?"

"Yes, a guy called Mark, had some minor wounds and was discharged already. They took down some guys and came back."

"Really!?!?"

I could see her conflicted feelings about it, I didn't need to be a genius to know that that place left a scar on her, but the fact that they got in there and came back was enough I huge surprise for her. Johanna's breathing was fast and irregular because of the excitement.

"Now calm down, because if the doctor sees you like this, he will not discharge you."

"Ok… do you know anything else about that?"

"Sorry I just know general stuff, I think he does it like that, for the rest of us not worry."

"Thank you, will you come back later, so we talk a little more?"

"I have to finish my rounds, and there is a lot of stuff to do with the arrival of the people from the Aurora Clinic. If a have some time before going to pick Dana, I'll come."

"I hope you have some time."

"Me too and don't try to move the leg like last time, bye."

I smiled at her, she was a little pushy, but she was fun to be around. I waited a minute for her to calm down before leaving.

As I left Johanna's room, I noticed Spencer going into the next room.
