200 Rose’s Disappearance

"Die f*cking beast!!!"

Gerhard was fighting against the weird pig-faced humanoid beast. He swung the hammer from the left to attack for the fourth time, this time the pig-man was forced to receive the full hit, He was pushed back a couple of meters, at first sight, there were no significant injuries on him.

How can it be so strong? Was the man-bull that Spencer fought that strong too?

To be honest, Gerhard wasn't using his full strength either. He knew that this was going to be a long fight so he couldn't risk depleting his energy so soon, or he would be unable to do anything when the night comes.

At least this strike hit… the previous attacks missed the target, unlike what you would expect from a pig based semi-human it was fast…

The reason that this time he managed to hit was Hope.

After he hit the semi-human, he moved back… he didn't need to wait to hear a bullet pass near him.

The bullet pierced through the pig-man's leg again. The first was on the thigh, this time the bullet fell on the calf and exploded on the impact. The pig-man lost his balance and fell back.

Gerhard tried to attack, but he was attacked by the other beast around him. He managed to fend them off and back off as the pig was taken by some beasts and protected. Two beasts were blown by the hammer sometime later as Gerhard vented his anger product of leaving the pig escape.

To the west the smoke coming from the forest made everyone nervous, for some, it was the signal that the things were going to get worst, for the ones it was the signal that Spencer was doing everything he can to prevent the other invasion. Those that knew about it could only pray for him to be okay.

"AAAAAAAAHHHH"

Gerhard looked to his side and noticed a guy heavily injured by a beast… his was writhing in pain on the floor, the guy didn't have a weapon with him and apparently was trying to bring a person with him out of the battlefield.

Some people that weren't part of the hunting teams were moving the wounded and giving first aids, so the number of deaths doesn't go up. From the looks of it, the man was injured by a goat that somehow managed to get to that place.

The goat started to move slower and after a few seconds was frozen on the spot before it could even try to finish the job.

Hayley was one of the busiest persons in the battle. After killing a pigheaded- bull with Blake, she worked to control the beasts that were leaking inside the formation. The ice statues that were around the battlefield kept growing.

When she heard the scream, she had to act and froze the goat that has managed to arrive at the place where they were trying to gather their wounded. The people in that area started to panic after the appearance of a beast. Hayley moved there so she could protect them, she was a long-range fighter so she could move freely and be equally effective.

Her presence had a calming effect on them, and it didn't take that much time for them to start working again. The man was heavily wounded and was taken to the field hospital by his partners.

Gerhard couldn't move from the place where he was, or the left flank of the formation might fall if another D-Rank came, he ordered Watson to go help and guard Hayley. He followed the instructions and moved to protect that area.

Far away to the east, the rain clouds appeared as predicted in the morning by Spencer.

For Gerhard these were bad news, the lack of sun will decrease his fighting prowess by a lot so he had to at the same time save his energy and deal all the damage possible while he can.

To the north, the sound of a building collapse stopped the fight for a second.

Blake was in the middle of fighting the D-Ranks, while Milo was already assigned to the unit in the north, so the strategy and orders were given by Leon.

As soon as he heard the fall of the blockade, he sent half the relief troops to the north, even if it could mean the loss of fighting prowess in the future, he couldn't allow a flank to succeed under any circumstance. It was impossible to reassign people from the east gate since their hands were full already, so all he could do was send the people that were supposed to reinforce them if things go wrong.

The relief troops engaged in the north.

Another shielder fell after being pierced by a bull in the east gate.

There was no end to the creatures that were attacking, at least they couldn't attack all at the same time or surround them. Otherwise, the fight would be over by now.

After the last piece of information that Rose told them they had no idea what was going on at the west.

In the middle of the fight, a weird feeling made everyone shiver. The beasts were no exception, and a whistle sounded in everyone's head…

The battle stopped, no one knew what was going on.

The beasts stopped their attack when the whistle started, some were trembling.

As if a signal to retreat was given, a chicken started to desperately run away from the humans… soon more and more beast followed the chicken just leaving behind some beasts that were too scared to move.

"What are you waiting!!! Attack!!"

Blake didn't know what was happening, but this was a chance that they couldn't waste, he ordered to continue the assault as he punched a D-Rank in front of him, a hybrid between a goat and a sheep. The electroshock made it faint, and it was finished by the people around. Soon the humans attacked with renewed energies and started to kill the beasts that remained behind.

The beast started to fall, some reacted and ran away like the others, but the battle ended with the unexpected win of a confused human side…

Some humans chased away the beast for a couple of blocks and then let them go away, others started to handle and help with the wounded.

From the north blockade, Milo came back together with Zak. He had left the rest group to guard the place and called Giorgio to block the street again.

Leon was coordinating the transport of the wounded to the hospital, and Blake was still looking to the east in the case that the beasts come back.

"Is everything okay here?"

Milo arrived next to Blake and informed him about the situation in the 7th street. Just like in the east gate, during the middle of the battle, a whistle started to sound, and the fight stopped, filled the beasts with fear, and made them ran away.

"What was that whistle…?"

The mention of the whistle was heard by the rest of the people, everything was so surreal that they thought that it was their imagination but hearing about it from their leaders they understood that something else was going on.

"I don't know it was like I could listen to it directly in my mind… do you think it was Dante?"

"Dante is in the forest with Spencer… he shouldn't be able to reach this place and… I think their hands are full right now."

Blake turned around to look at the smoke rising from the burning forest. Milo noticed Blake worries as he followed his gaze, he knew the dangers that Spencer's mission involved.

"If you want I can lead a team to see what is going on."

Blake didn't need to think about it too much, for better or worst they need to know what was happening in that forest as soon as possible.

"Go talk with Rose to see if she knows something before you leave."

"I'm going too."

Hayley was near them and heard the conversation, she was also worried about Spencer and Dante. Blake nodded, he knew that it was impossible to keep her here anyway.

Hope and Gerhard also joined the group, as well as another five people.

As Blake told them, they started by looking for Rose, but it was like she vanished from Green Shelter…

Gerhard was desperate, the only lead they had was that she left Lucy with Dana for a while, but the little bunny suddenly vanished not too long ago at the same time of the whistle, according to Dana she went to help Rose and Spencer.

No one knew how she knows that, but if it was true, it meant that Spencer found some kind of trouble in the swamp and Rose on an impulse went there to help him.

By the time they left Green Shelter the sky was already covered by the rain clouds.
