71 Resonance

(Rose POV)

I couldn't understand what was happening.

Even if this was Spencer's plan, why would he let Jamie catch him? I'm sure that if he and Dante work together, they could have killed Jamie way sooner, without anyone in the house noticing.

There is something I'm missing here… I want to discard the possibility of Dante- betraying us, but my mind couldn't ignore that possibility. It's not like he was under Jamie's control, I would be able to see it in that case, then what would be the reason for him to betray us?

Let's ignore that possibility for now and focus on something else. Maybe the chance of killing Jamie wasn't high enough, but if he got caught he would be able to get near and strike fast if he managed to regain control… but can he do it? I feel like I'm missing a vital part of information here but this doesn't add up. Dante wouldn't betray us, and Spence wouldn't let Jamie caught him without a good reason for it.

If he wanted to depend on the system to avoid Jamie's ability, it was too risky there was nothing that indicates that the system was capable of that. Also, Dante said don't worry, which means that he had a way to set himself free?

That can't be either, Dante mentioned someone going as reinforcement. Is he controlling the people he sent away? That shouldn't work either.

From what we know about Jamie's power he binds souls, at least that was what the system said, and somehow, he uses it as a medium to control the body, while leaving the mind apart. Then it doesn't matter if Dante can influence everyone's mind, because the body is nor being controlled by their thoughts. Thus the reinforcement is not someone controlled by Jamie.

If it had something to do with souls… does he want me to get rid of it? It wouldn't be weird, but I have never tried, how would they even know if it will work!! That was way too risky.

I have passed through a couple of houses and flew straight to the place Spencer was. There he was surrounded by Jamie and butler and his other three followers.

They had taken the shotgun and left it in the side of the room. Since they look a little more relaxed than before, I think that Dante stopped his harassing. The girl was next to Spence touching his head and looking into his eyes with Butler at her side, Jamie was with the other two guys.

"And?" Butler asked her.

"Yes, he is the one that killed Fatty and Freddie, and apparently the cat in our mind is his doing too… He is here to kill Jamie." The girl said.

"Hahahahah Trying to kill me!?!?!? Like if someone can do something like that!!! Usually, I would just give you the honor to work for me, but bastards like you and that cat don't deserve that! We are going downstairs to show everyone what happens when someone tries to mess with me!!" But after saying that Jamie thought about something else.

"But I'll give you a chance… if you tell me, where is that FU****G CAT!!"

The girl that was reading his mind talked at that time.

"He doesn't know where the cat is."

"Too bad, we will have to torture him a little, does he have any other allies, maybe if we found his friends I can make him suffer more."

"He has a sister and a girlfriend, but they separated during the chaos and hadn't seen them." The girl responded again.

What? These were clearly some made up memories that Dante showed them. At first, I didn't notice, but Lucy was next to Spencer trying to bite the chains.

I let out a gasp, Is Lucy the reinforcement?

Jamie suddenly started to look around, I hid by instinct but then I noticed that Jamie shouldn't be able to see me, there is a white bunny biting Spencer's chain and he is doing nothing about it. Butler saw this and asked him.

"Sir everything is ok?"

"Yeah, I felt something weird. Let's go to the main hall I'm going put him there for everyone to see."

It wasn't necessary for anyone to take Spencer he just walked by his own. Lucy followed him, and I did the same. I noticed that one of the chains even had lost part of the frightening aura, and had tooth marks that Lucy made before.

But there were a lot of chains, I don't want to even think about how much time would it take Lucy to set him free. Spence would have been tortured to death already by the time she managed to set him free.

He noticed me following him and gave me a nervous smile, he didn't seem worried about the situation but because of me.

We arrived at the hall. There were just four people beside Jamie's group, so he sent them all but Butler to look for the patrols outside. Spence looked in my direction Jamie saw it and find it weird, but he couldn't see me.

Right now, Butler and Jamie were the only ones left in the mansion.

"KNEEL!! And stay there!" Jamie went to the other part of the hall and got enraged when he noticed that there was no place to sit and started to yell at Butler for giving such idiotic orders.

Lucy went running towards Spence, and I followed her. She was still trying to bite the chains, I tried touching them, but it was like grabbing a red-hot metal.

Pshhhhh.

I got burned, my hand hurt and Spencer noticed it.

"Rose stop." He seemed worried when he saw what happened to my hand.

I ignored him and gathered my strength to try again. Jamie noticed that something happened because of Spencer loud voice. I want to take off the chains and threw them to the side instead of breaking them, I don't know if it's going to work, but its worth the shot. I was about to take the chain when a weird feeling invaded me, and I tried to resist.

'Let her in.' Dante's voice sounded again in my head.

I'm not sure why but I decided to believe in Dante even if I didn't understand what was happening. Jamie was closing in the distance, but I was sure that he didn't notice me.

A weird sensation filled me, I felt the burn in my hand recovering, there was no pain anymore, and in the palm of my hand, a white tattoo with the silhouette of a little bunny resting on the moon appeared. I suddenly realized Lucy's feeling, she was worried and wanted to help me. Even if she was scared about the chains, she understood that Spencer bounded by them made me sad, that's why she tried bitting them.

The tattoo kept shining in white, I touched one of the chains, and it started to disappear. I couldn't understand what just happened. Spencer thoughts went into my mind, I could understand the pain on his left arm, the binding that didn't let him move, he felt guilty for hiding something from me, and the fear that it may not work.

A voice that reminds me of Spence's sounded in my head at that moment too.

Jamie made a weird face when the chain disappeared, I touched the chains one by one, and all of them started to disappear. Butler noticed that something was wrong and followed Jamie.

'Meow meow meow meow meow meow~.'

"That cat again!" We could all hear what I suppose was Dante's taunting. Jamie's hatred of Dante made him lose focus and forget what he was doing when he was about to reach Spence, that gave me enough time to dissipate the remaining chains.

"Come here!! You like to hide uh!! Wait till I'm done with your master when I find you I will skin you alive!!" Jamie was out of control yelling in the air… he really was an idiot.

I freed Spencer from the chains, and in just 2 seconds, he grabbed the knife that no one took from him and stabbed Jamie. He didn't stop there, and after the first stab, he moved the knife to his throat and sliced it.

Every new notification confused me more if it wasn't because I can think of multiple things at the same time I would be overwhelmed by them.

Spence kept calm, and after slicing killing Jamie, he turned around just in time to dodge Butler who has arrived at his side.

But after the first attack, he fell and started to contort and roll on the floor. The chains were slowly disappearing, but unlike when I destroyed Spence's chains this process seemed a lot more painful.
