99 New Democratic Revolution

After waking up with Rose at my side and eating breakfast with everyone, I headed to Dr. Harting office on the school. Dante was with me to check that Dr. Harting's source could be trusted.

It was early in the morning, and there was a lot of movement around, it was a weird sight after seeing the street outside this area completely empty.

When I came into the office, I found Dr. Harting talking with a woman on her early-thirties. She turned around after hearing the door open, her big blue eyes looked at me with interest while she tucked her hair behind her ear… she seemed somewhat familiar, so I started to think where I have seen her before.

After I while, I remembered that she was the host of the local news and happens to be the woman that did the interview to Dr. Harting the day of the meteor shower.

She was a local reporter, she was young compared to her peers, and it was pretty impressive for her to be the host of her own TV show. It's possible that she got it because of her looks at first, but the interviews I have seen from her so far showed that if she got the program thanks to her looks she got to keep it thanks to her ability. She had a soft silver aura that lacked the strength that I have seen in others.

She noticed that I was looking at her and gave me a polite smile. She locked her eyes into mine, and I felt as if she could unveil all of my secrets.

'Dante, is she reading my mind?'

'No~, she can't read minds~, her power is short distance clairvoyance, but she thinks that you believe that she can and find it funny~.'

I hate reporters…

"Hi, I'm Spencer, nice to meet you."

I extended my hand, and she took to shake it.

"Johanna Frost, nice to finally meet you. Dr. Harting told me about you a while ago."

She looked at my eyes trying to figure out something without letting my hand go if I didn't have cold mind I'm pretty sure that I would be bothered with it, but I just hold her gaze until she let my hand go.

I tilted my head at Dr. Harting.

"She is one of the firsts that heard about your theories and what you said to Mr. Ryan."

Before I could say anything, Johanna asked about that.

"Can you tell me how did you notice everything that happened so fast? It took a while to most people to discover the changes but from what Mr. Ryan said you had discovered a lot in the first days."

Under her gaze, I answered her question without any problem.

"Well I saw the meteor shower with my friends and noticed that something was wrong, the next day I woke up and nothing worked but I remembered the explosions, about the powers the fact that my cat could talk and told me, even is it was a little weird helped a lot to discover everything that was happening."

"You weren't scared of your talking cat?"

"To be honest at the beginning I thought that I was dreaming, and I got something from the meteor shower that helped me to keep calm even after I discovered that it was real."

"What did you get?"

With each question, her smile grew wider. Fortunately, Dr. Harting came to my rescue at that moment.

"That's enough Johanna, we are not here for you to pry into other people secrets…"

"B-b-but he is interesting I want to know more."

"You can do that in the future we are here to discuss something more important."

"You are no fun."

She pouted a little, it was childish and completely opposite to what she shows on TV, but something tells me that this was the real her.

We all sat at a conference table, Dante directly climbed and cuddled on it. Dr. Harting ignored him and began to talk.

"Johanna already knows about the mysterious disappearances and kidnappings, and she already knows about the theory of a third power trying to take control of the city, but I prefer for you to explain the rest."

Johanna turned serious after Dr. Harting told that this was related to the kidnappings. She looked at me waiting for me to explain her everything.

I took a deep breath while I figure out where to start.

"I have three clues about that group … the first is a warning that someone that was trying to join a group gave me … I think that the group that they wanted to join was this third party… I had to rescue someone that was kidnaped, while I was there I overheard that the kidnaped people were meant as payment to join that group. I killed 2 of the kidnappers, and before dying, one of the gave me a warning… about John Hamilton."

Johanna was listening, and at the mention of Hamilton her eyes almost popped out.

"Commissioner John Hamilton?"

"I only got a name so I can be sure that it's him, but it's a possibility, the other clues I got thanks to one of my powers."

"Your powers?"

Dr. Harting interrupted at that moment.

"Spencer has a complete enhance in his senses, the enhance added a little something to his abilities, Psychometry."

He explained, I nodded confirming his words and continued explaining.

"Thanks to that power I got information from those two ambushes. First and more important, one of the guys, that is giving the order used to be a member of the city council. He is skinny and has pale skin, small eyes and short black hair he should be in his late forties, the other guy I saw giving orders was in his late thirties and had an aquiline nose, brown hair, medium complexion."

It would have been easier if I used Dante to show her the appearances but I didn't want for them to know all of Dante's powers. Johanna was nodding while pondering who can be from the details I gave her.

"The last piece of information is that I recognized that they are somewhere in the south of the city."

Since the houses I saw were similar, I describe what I could remember from my visions with Dante's help.

"Is the NDR…"

She said after thinking for a while. I never paid attention to politics so even if I have heard of the NDR I don't remember what it meant.

"The NDR stands for New Democratic Revolution, it a political party that was founded by James Hamilton, John Hamilton's father about 15 years ago, I don't remember much about it, but Hamilton died shortly after establishing it on a car accident. From what you described I think that the guys you describe are Benjamin Pollard and Brody Chambers.

As you already now Benjamin Pollard has been a high-profile member of the city council for more than 10 years. Brody Chambers was the one in charge of the communications of the NDR, I remember talking with him a couple of times every time a scandal appeared.

Even with the name they chose, the reality is that their vision was pretty elitist and conservative. Also if I'm not mistaken another of their members, Kevin Ramsey, is the owner of an entire condo in the south that match your description. I remember it was a huge scandal because Pollard used his influence for him to buy the land cheaper than it should."

We all fell silent, even if we already knew who we were against we still don't know how much power they had, all we had were names that in this situation didn't help too much.

"Do you remember seeing more people from the NDR at the beginning?"

"I remember I saw Hamilton and Chamber when this just happened but they disappeared about two days later."

I was thinking our next step. When Dr. Harting talked.

"We need to confirm that the third party is indeed those we are thinking and have an idea of their power, we can't be in the dark about it for more time… let me talk with some people today, and we will send a scout team to take a look at the south. Spence are you in?"

I remembered that I had a mission related to the kidnaps, so I accepted. Apparently, even if Johanna's power wasn't top-notch, thanks to her intuition she was one of the best scouts and was also a part of the team since she could recognize the members of the NDR, he told us that he was going to tell us about the other members tomorrow after he found them.

After bidding my farewells, I went back to the apartment to take Hope to hunt with me today.
