66 Chaos in the Mansion

In the mansion, Butler had just sent out one more group to look for whoever it was the guy that was causing this mess. Besides butler himself, and Jamie's harem, there were three groups in the mansion. Under Jamie's orders, he was planning to send two more groups in the search.

Since Jamie liked to treat himself as an almighty and important guy, he called the groups Special forces teams Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie, in reality, the guys on those teams were the same than those patrolling and guarding, so they were just regular hunting groups.

Butler had just sent out team Bravo and was in his way to tell team Alpha about the new mission. He was going to look for them because team Charlie Hunted yesterday, and after the false alarm in the night they had to rest.

When Butler was about to arrive at the room assigned to Team Alpha an enraged yell resounded in the mansion.

"MAKE IT STOP!".

The voice was clearly from Jamie, so Butler went running to the master bedroom to see what was wrong.

"FIND THAT FU***NG CAT!"

Cat? What Cat? Butler was confused but couldn't go against Jamie's orders.

"Sir most people are out looking for Pyro and his partners."

"SEND PEOPLE TO TELL THEM COME HERE AND LOOK FOR THE CAT!!!"

Jamie covered his ears at the constant meow that sounded in his head.

"Yes, Sir."

It wasn't unusual for his boss to get enraged for anything, but this was the first time that Butler saw him like that. He wasn't clear about what was happening, so he just followed Jamie's orders.

He went to team Alpha and send them to tell the searching parties to come back and look for a cat, he gave them all the info about the patrolling routes that he has created for the groups to not bump into each other.

Team Alpha didn't understand what was happening either, but Butler orders were treated as Jamie's order, so after studying the info, they left.

It wasn't difficult for Butler to became Jamie's right hand. When he was controlled for the first time by him he knew that Jamie wasn't too smart, but he was his best way to survive so he gave him some advice to make his growing group better. Thanks to this Jamie was able to defeat Pyro the first time, it was also Butler's idea for him to try to control the beasts, so he earned his trust.

This made Butler position especial, he didn't like to be under Jamie's control, but thanks to his efforts he could do things that no one else was allowed to do. He still had to follow Jamie's orders, but he can give orders, and probably if anything happens, he is the second with the highest survival chances.

Butler arrived at Team Charlie's room. After they had to take part in last night patrols, they should be resting right now. It was terrible that he had to interrupt them to look for a cat, but he had no choice. When he opened the door, he saw something surprising.

All of them were wide awake, one was looking with interest a pen, and two were trying to cover their ears and make noise trying to not listen to something.

The one holding the pen was putting it next to his ear, Butler found out that he wanted to pierce his eardrum and had to stop him.

"Please let me, this way I will not hear that cat!!"

A cat again?...

"Jamie's orders… Find the cat."

All of them stood up a left. When Butler says Jamie's orders, it's the same as if it was Jamie the one telling them, so they had to go around looking for a cat.

Butler also joined the search for the cat in the mansion, without understanding what was wrong, he decided to check the backyard, there was already too many people looking inside.

When he arrived at the backyard he found a sheep on the grass with foam coming out from the mouth, just like the other beasts that died yesterday…

But no cat.

2 blocks away Team Bravo, was following their dog back to the mansion, the Dog apparently picked up a trace and giving a detour he followed it to street on the back of the mansion. It didn't take too long for him to find what he was looking for… a piece of meat.

After eating the piece of meat under the surprised gaze of the rest of the team, the dog went back to them to continue the search.

"He found a trace to that piece of meat and made us came all the way here for it?"

"Who knows, if he has such an amazing nose he should be able to pick the trace of the guy we are looking for soon. Let's go back to our route."

They went back to their original route, but one block before arriving to the place they were before, the dog fainted, and foam came out from his mouth…

Two of the guards that were keeping watch last night were roaming and going in an out of the houses assigned to them.

They were about to turn right on a corner.

"Aren't we supposed to go that way?" One of them said signaling with his finger the opposite way.

The other guard started to have doubts, they remember the routes they were supposed to take clearly before, but now there were doubts about the path they should take. They chose the left side and continued to check the houses.

It didn't take long before in one of the houses they found people. They took out their weapons, a shotgun, and a stick, ready to fight.

Inside the house, three guys heard the sound of the door opening and also got ready to fight.

Both groups remembered that they are supposed to take back everyone alive, so the guy with the shotgun aimed at the legs of the people.

Inside the house, the other group was ready to engage in a melee fight, but before the battle happened the guards, and the patrol recognized each other.

"You scare me to death as***le!"

"Why the f**k are you here this is not your area!"

Now the guards already recalled that this was supposed to be their area.

"What do you mean your area, this is 5th street, you were supposed to check 3rd and 4th!!"

"No! We had 4th and 5th!"

At this time doubts started to appear in the patrol as they couldn't recall precisely what street were they supposed to be searching.

They started to look at each other, and after apologizing, they left to the 6th street that they were supposed to be searching…

There, they found another group and the situation repeated…

This wasn't the only place where this was happening, most of the groups were continually bumping into each other, and after an hour, no group knew where they were supposed to be searching.

While all this happened there was a group that didn't had the problem of bumping with other teams.

Team Alpha was supposed to look for the other teams to give the new orders and then join the mansion to help in the search of a cat.

They got the information about the routes that the other groups should have taken from Butler, but after roaming for a while, they were unable to find anyone.

"Where is everyone?". This was the question in everyone's mind.

"Should we split and look into the other routes?" One of them recommended.

After the suggestion, everyone thought that it was actually pretty obvious that it was what they should have done since the beginning, so all of them went to check different routes.

They moved around for about an hour without finding anyone. But the lack of people around wasn't the main problem that team Alpha had to face.

In the middle of the search they were unable to remember where they were supposed to go. First, they forgot the routes that Butler told them. Later the forgot how they arrived at the place they were.

They started to see more and more beast roaming and became more difficult to avoid them, some of them were luckier and found other people roaming, but those people were also lost.

Even if they were able to transmit the new orders. They had no way to go back and could only roam around until they find the way back to the mansion.

In the night it became obvious that something was wrong, half of the groups disappeared and didn't come back including team Alpha. Team Charlie, and some other people that were tired kept talking about how they could hear a cat every time they were about to fall asleep.

Jamie was no exception, and his mood was worse than ever before, but for some reason, he didn't vent on other people like usual, but instead he was out of control looking for the cat destroying half of the furniture inside the mansion, like if the cat was inside them.

The guy from the Team Charlie finally punctured his eardrum and fainted. What was more surprising about it was that some people even was looking at him with envious eyes and thought of looking for a way to faint too, so butler had to give an order to forgive them from fainting on purpose.

Butler was also an Esper, his stamina was higher than normal, so he wasn't as tired as the others on the day, but after more than 24 hours awake, he was reaching his limit too.

It was when he was nodding off during the cat hunt a couple hours later that everything finally made sense.

'Meow~.'

He froze and looked around looking for a cat.

'Grrrr~.'

…

That was a sleepless night, where everyone that was in the mansion kept looking for a cat, that wasn't even near them.
