241 Breakfast in bed

(Rose POV)

It's the first time in a while that… I'm not able to sleep at all…

I was comfortable in Spencer's arms hearing the soothing beat of his heart, but my mind was wandering and recalling our recent conversation which left me with mixed feelings…

Probably I was hoping for him to tell me that being with another woman beside me was the last thing in his mind, but if he said that, would I even believe him? I'm glad that he was honest with me, and he was clear when he said that I'm his girlfriend and that I am his priority.

Despite all that I can't help but feel like now it's my decision if I allow Hayley to come into our lives… as something more than a friend…

I remember there was a time while she was with Spencer that I thought of ways to steal him away from her, so I can understand how she feels… if the situation was the other way around and she was his girlfriend… would I be willing to share Spence to be with him?

I can't help but feel that there is more in play than what I think… In many ways, these days have been everything I always wanted, but the situation with Hayley isn't allowing me to embrace it and enjoy it as I should.

I couldn't help but feel guilty and selfish even if I was doing nothing wrong, I could also see how Hayley tries to avoid Spence and how it affected him. It was a matter of time for it to start changing our group's dynamics and environment.

Why now that I finally have the opportunity to be with him it has to be so complicated?

What should I do?

*sigh

Suddenly I felt Spencer pressing his body against mine, and his arm tightens around me, it feels amazing.

(Spencer POV)

None of us slip got to sleep last night… now that everything was out there it was weird.

I just told my girlfriend that I wouldn't mind being with another woman beside her. Both of us are confused by the situation, but I already told her all I could trying to be as honest as possible.

Maybe I should have lied a little?

I watched her on my chest. She was beautiful, and it seemed as that she belonged there. I don't want her to be confused or thinking that I don't like her.

*sigh…*

I heard her sighing at my side. I squeezed her between my arms which surprised her.

"Hey!!"

Now that I had her attention I pressed my lips against hers. I didn't stop there and pressed my body against her as my hands roamed in her back… she was slightly surprised at first, but in no time she responded with the same passion. After a few seconds, everything was perfect, and nothing else mattered. I needed her to understand something… I wanted her.

I finally freed her lips and saw her red cheeks and ragged breathing while I glued my eyes to her glassy eyes filled with desire. I could feel her heart beating faster… almost on par with mine, I felt even more attracted to her.

"No matter what happens I'm going to be with you."

I didn't let her answer. I covered her mouth with mine, and she didn't seem to mind it.

It was an escape… a way to avoid thinking about what happened last night.

I didn't take the next step, and neither did she… none of us wanted to do it. At this moment the intimacy and bonding that comes with this type of kiss and caress, that was what we wanted. We needed to reassure each other that everything was going to be okay.

We just enjoyed each other for a while until we saw the sun making its appearance. I would have stayed here all day long, but there were things we have planned for today.

I finally stopped the kiss despite Rose's reluctance. She seemed to be in a trance as she looked at my eyes and chased my lips to continue the kiss. Her eyes focused finally coming back to reality when I caressed her face.

"I love You, Spence."

"I love you too Rose."

Her lips were redder than they should… it's going to be evident to anyone that sees it what happened. I could also feel my lips extremely sensible from the make-out session, so I don't think I'm in a better state, but none of it matters right now.

I felt like doing something romantic for her.

On the bed a tray appeared, it slowly was filled with orange juice, heart-shaped cakes, and two lattes… she prefers tea, but probably coffee will be needed for her to survive the day since she didn't sleep last night. In the center, a simple vase appeared with flowers.

She smiled as we dig in. It was something simple, and if I have the stuff here, I would be happy to cook for her, but it would have to be the next time.

Luckily for my intentions, one of the upgrades that I got on the item shop was that I can get cooked food and not only ingredients and basic stuff. There was some food that was so expensive that I'm sure it uses meat from A-Ranks beasts to be made.

The food isn't the only new stuff that appeared in the shop. Vehicles and weapons made from exotic materials (like weird unknown alloys and monster parts) were between the options now and took a part of my EP some time ago.

"This is not bad!"

"Yeah, the system says that it has the standards of an Lv 3. Cooking skill."

She seemed to be savoring the taste after I told her that. I couldn't help but laugh as I saw some cream on her lips. I used my finger to take it and put it on my mouth, which provoked her cheeks to blush and smile.

"Do you think Isabella has more than Lv. 3 in cooking?"

I left the cake in my mouth for a few seconds using my enhanced taste…

"Yeah, her food is better than this."

We finished the food calmly while talking about trivial stuff. She was still troubled by everything we talked about yesterday, but I was the same.

"If you are ready, we can go to the NDR base now."

We wanted to keep our heads out of the previous matter, probably for Rose it was almost impossible, but I wanted to at least let her think about other things.

Usually, I decide what to do depending on the missions I have on the system.

After the upgrade, an avalanche of missions appeared, but luckily it was accompanied with a filtering option that made everything more simple…

Of course, I took a look at all of them before hiding them…

The range of time for some of them was infinite, or it would take years to complete…

For example, finding my mother and Rose's parents…

When we found out that mission, there was a clear meaning behind it…

My father died at some point either because of the meteor shower or something that happened after…

There was a vast difference between knowing what could have happened and knowing that it was a fact. To be honest, I thought that it would hit me and Hope a lot harder but after going through all that happened since the meteor shower and knowing for a fact that mom was alive made it easier to handle.

At least the mission to find them was just one, and that implied that my mother was with Rose's family for now, so whatever happened I knew that she was not alone. The amount of time that we have to complete that mission was more than ten years, so it was clear that they are okay for now.

There were other missions more urgent.

Missions to kill the known member of the NDR appeared as well, together with a chain mission to prevent them from taking over all North America. The first one was to prevent the fall of Aurora city, a little more than a year from now.

The reason for going to the old NDR base was also a mission. Of course, the place was checked already by other teams, but if the system wants me to go there, it means that there is something that they missed.

We were bound to leave Green Shelter, but first, we want to leave this place in the best possible position. Once I go with my group, it will be a lot weaker, but as long as they stay in touch with Pinky, they should be fine.

I took Rose hand once again and started walking towards the old NDR base.
