DEMON CHESS BOARD

It's a cold rainy night in the woods. It's initially dark until a bright light can be spotted ahead. It seems like it's coming from the headlights of an off-road truck. The truck zooms past at great speed

COLLIN'S TRUCK, NIGHT

In the car, we see two figures. Both black men. One seems to be far older than the older. There is resemblance between these two. The older one is driving and the younger is just sitting.

SHAWN'S DAD

So you enjoyed hunting today son?

SHAWN

Hunting bores me dad.....(disgustedly)

SHAWN'S DAD

You'll get used to it son...

SHAWN

I'm never gonna get used to it dad....

SHAWN'S DAD

It's the only...

SHAWN

Dad don't you think I belong somewhere. Don't you think I belong in college...with real people...I don't deserve to hunt stupid games.

SHAWN'S DAD

Believe me son...you have something greater ahead of you. Something greater than college...greater than school....nd I'm preparing you for it...

SHAWN

I don't wanna be a hunter!!!!!!....I hate guns and slingshots and cowboy hats and horses....I hate you dad.... every day around you is the worst...(steaming anger)

SHAWN'S DAD

I'm your fucking father Shawn!!!!!!...so you're gonna do whatever I say whenever I say it however I say it. You are hunting with me tomorrow and there ain't nothing you gonna about it.

They stare at each other for a while in silence.

SHAWN

Piss off.

The continue to driving in silence without uttering a single word. Shawn's dad feels remorse

SHAWN'S DAD

I only want the best for you son....you...you're special...and...I don't think it's the kind of special you'll enjoy in college. You belong with me son. You'll understand later

Young Shawn seems to be to pissed to reply his dad. At the end of the road right ahead of them, a dark silhouette is seen standing not motile. Shawn quickly spots this.

SHAWN

Dad!! Watch out!!!!

Shawn's dad sees the silhouette and looses control of the steering wheel. The truck charges into an oak tree with great velocity. The windshield shatters to a hundred pieces. The car begins to smoke.

Shawn's dad who is now bleeding on the face grabs his shotgun and kicks the truck door open. He staggers out of the car exhausted due to the crash. His eye sight and hearing is already damaged.

SHAWN

Dad!!! I'm stuck...

SHAWN'S DAD

I'm coming....

Shawn's dad quickly grabs Shawn and drags him out. Shawn's leg is twisted. They both help each other as they walk off the cad crash.

SHAWN

What was that dad...I saw the man...

SHAWN'S DAD

they're here son....

SHAWN

I don't understand...

They both stagger off into the woods leaving the crushed truck right where it is. In the woods, we see the two moving slowly until a white mist fills the air around them blinding their ability to see clearly. Shawn falls to the ground

SHAWN'S DAD

Son....this is the moment.

Shawn's dad pulls Shawn up.

SHAWN'S DAD

Strengthen up or die...

From a distance, we can hear a loud screech. Shawn's dad reaches into his pocket and brings out the two gold coins with different symbols on it. One has the monstrous head with two long horns and the other has an occultic star(the devil's star). He gives the monster headed coin to Shawn and holds the other. The coin at the point of contact with Shawn's fingers begins to glow bright. Shawn begins to feel something surge in him.

SHAWN'S DAD

Dad....I...I feel something.

SHAWN'S DAD

Prepare for the fight of your life Shawn....

In a millisecond l, a black smoke shadow zips out of the surrounding mist at light speed startling the two from behind. They look back in fear but it's gone. They keep looking around for that thing.

SHAWN

How am I supposed to use this glowing th...

Before he can complete his sentence, something zips past their front at great speed and in a millisecond, it's gone. What scares us is that Dad's right leg is gone too. Shawn's dad stares at his bloody leg lying on the ground. Blood gushes out of the wound as he stares down in ultimate pain and surprise. His eyes wide as if they could pop out. He falls to the ground dumbfounded.

SHAWN

Dad....no!!!

SHAWN'S DAD

This is...n...mn..your fight...now son.

The shadowy creature appears again this time revealing itself. A demon with eight horns. Four on the right and four on the left. It poseesses hard weirdly shaped claws with blood dripping from it. His father's blood to be precise.

The demon charges at Shawn with light speed and knocks him into a nearby tree. Shawn looses coordination for a while. The demon then turns to Shawn's father and shoves it's claws into his stomach. Blood splashes and gushes out as the demon drags out his intestines.

SHAWN

Dad!!!!!!!....

Shawn begins to cry as his dad spits blood out of his mouth trying to speak some certain words. He can only do nothing but watch the horror.

SHAWN'S DAD

Ca...catch

Shawn's dad tosses the second coin towards his son.

SHAWN'S DAD

If you get out of this alive...gg...give th..at to Stacy Miller...find her....and give it to her....

SHAWN

Dad...who...

SHAWN'S DAD

Fff..find...Father Aaron.....he will guide you....good bye son. I'll see you soon.

He smiles for a second and then holds a firm face, a determined face.

SHAWN'S DAD

Now....run like shit...

SHAWN

I can't leave you here dad...I just can't...

SHAWN'S DAD

I can't survive this....yo...you need to...

SHAWN

We die here together dad.....

SHAWN'S DAD

I'm your fucking father Shawn!!!!!....you do whatever I say.... remember...

The demon has eaten all the intestines and wants more. It is now coming for Shawn.

SHAWN

I love you dad...no matter what. I'll find Stacy Miller and Father Aaron.

Shawn takes to his heels and peels away like the wind as he runs for his dear life leaving his father. Tears roll down his dad face. The adrenaline pumping through his veins has made him not to feel the pain of the twisted leg.

The demon is about to follow Shawn when Shawn's dad draws it back revealing another coin, One we have never seen before. It has the logo of a cowboy hat with horns protruding out of it. The coin begins to glow real bright.

SHAWN'S DAD

Time to go Kabooom

The coin explodes emitting a great ball of divine light which expands over a hundred metres blinding everything around.

Shawn stares at the explosion and knows what has happened. The worst has happened. His father is dead. He stares at the two coins as he manages to walk out of the woods with his twisted leg.

Present Day...

BARDENCOCK CITY, DAY

It is a cold morning as usual in southern Bardencock. We see lots people carrying out their daily jobs. Among the people, we see and recognize a man, Shawn wearing his cowboy hat and his long black overcoat covering his weapons. We seem to hear his voice too.

"The world is filled with demons...we just don't know it because we can't see it. Demons sit with us....eat with us....sleep with us.....live with us. In the toilet, they're there...in the bathroom...they're there."

Shawn turns right into a fenced compound and walks in through the gate. The sign board beside the gate states "Father Aaron's church of Exorcism and Demon Expulsion".

"Demons are a part of us....even in the church, we have demons."

A tall building is seen ahead of Shawn. The entrance is widely opened. From inside, we can hear a voice speaking to a large crowd of people. Inside the building, we see the source of the voice. An old man with white beards wearing a priest outfit standing on the altar in front of a huge crowd of people. He seems to be preaching the word of God. This man is father Aaron.

FATHER AARON

Resist the devil....and he will flee from you...James 4:7 tells us this. It tells us that the devil is a coward and we can resist him. We can cast him out....he is a fool who runs...when he sees holy energy... the power from God rests in us. We just can't use it yet...not until we connect with him and...

As Shawn enters the church building and, Father Aaron spots him and identifies him. They both share a glance at each other before before Father Aaron quickly dispatches the crowd.

FATHER AARON

All this and more we shall talk about next time. Let us pray.

A moment later.....

We see the people leaving the church auditorium. Father Aaron is packing is bible and notes from the pupit when Shawn steps forward.

SHAWN

You shouldn't lie to this people Father.

FATHER AARON

The truth is what I speak son.

SHAWN

We both know that holy energy ain't present in everybody. (Smiles)

FATHER AARON

Holy energy is present in everyone. Only few have the ability to see through it and manipulate it.

SHAWN

I found her.

Father Aaron stares at Shawn for a moment not knowing what to say. He turns around and begins to walk towards the inner part of the church.

SHAWN

What?...you're not gonna say anything? He told me to find her....and you and now you're just gonna fucking walk away?

FATHER AARON

Don't be foolish. Follow me. It's time to show you what your dad was trying to prevent.

Shawn follows the priest. They talk on the way.

FATHER AARON

The devil has made his move Shawn. His move on the Chess Board.

SHAWN

You speak in parables.

FATHER AARON

The demon chess board hasn't moved in a thousand years. Yesterday when you presumably found the girl and made her touch the devil's star, the king moved a piece.

SHAWN

You mean there's an actual chessboard played by the fucking devil?

FATHER AARON

It is the sixth relic sent down from heaven by God. It shows us the hierarchy of demons up to the devil himself. If something bad will happen on earth....the board's gonna warn us.

Father Aaron enters a chamber in the church and Shawn follows. The chamber is filled with lots of burning candles and strange symbols are drawn on the walls. and in the center on the ground, we see an occultic star symbol resembling the one on the devil's star coin. At the center of the star, we see a glowing blue orb emitting a violet radiation.

SHAWN

What the fuck....

FATHER AARON

Watch your profanity here Shawn. This is a very sensitive place to be. You are standing on the demon chess board.

Father Aaron moves his hands in a symbolic manner, and the orb begins to dissipate into tiny fragments of pixels. Thousands upon thousands of pixels begin to fill the room. They suddenly begin to come together to form what seems to be a gigantic glowing blue chess board with golden chess piece standing on the right side and red chess piece on the other side(left side). Father Aaron is moving this mysterious chess board with his bare hands.

FATHER AARON

The devil's side is red and our side is gold.

The devil moved two knights yesterday. Legion and Cassilon two brothers. He ran Cassilon mad and made him attack the girl you were looking for...

We see the king on the left side of the chess glowing bright and right beside it, two knights advance forward trying to attack the queen of the opposition side which is just inches away from destroying a red pawn.

SHAWN

So the devil is that red glowing son of a bitch and....the two knights are Cassilon and Legion. The opposing queen must be Stacy.

FATHER AARON

The devil sacrificed two of his most dangerous demons to take down the queen...but you were there to save the day by killing the weaker demon....CASSILON

From behind, a golden bishop kills off the first red KNIGHT.

SHAWN

What about the other...

FATHER AARON

Legion cannot be killed. He is a one man army. About Fifty million demons reside in Legion. Legion will always come back stronger and will take the form of anything. This is the devil's most powerful tool. Stacy casted out five demons out of Legion. Legion disappeared out of the radars but I'm pretty sure he'll be back soon during the invasion.

SHAWN

What invasion?

Father Aaron performs some hand movements which makes the board to go back to it's original form.

FATHER AARON

The dooms day.....your father was trying to prevent that.

Father Aaron points at a hatch at the other side of the chamber. He walks over to the hatch and opens it. Shawn takes a peek. He spots a pool of liquid dark energy boiling and beneath it, he can spot traces of red hot fire filled energy coming from the hole. The whole room is now filled with evil energy and the arrow on Shawn's compass like watch begins to tremble towards the red mark. It continues like this till it sparks and explodes off the hands of Shawn.

SHAWN

This shit carries a pound of demonic energy. My demometer is fucking fucked up.

FATHER AARON

Millions of demons waiting to enter the world. The devil is mobilizing them. Your father sealed the portal here temporarily beneath the church. The energy of the barrier is weakening.....we don't seal that portal permanently and fast....we're gonna have the whole world possessed.

Father Aaron walks out of the chamber and Shawn follows.

FATHER AARON

which is why we have to train Stacy. She is as powerful as the devil's star....even more powerful. Her holy energy is like that of a flowing river with no branches....straight....and pure.

SHAWN

You read her energy didn't you?

FATHER AARON

Same way I read yours. We are on a chess battle now Shawn. We need as much Exorcists as we can get. We are moving towards the end of time. That puddle you saw earlier is growing...once it overflows.... we're all doomed.

SHAWN

I'll bring her here...all that fucking concerns me is how I'm gonna fucking make her to fucking cooperate.

They both make it back to the inner church. Shawn wears his cowboy hat and hits the exit. Shawn passes out through the entrance and sees a familiar figure ahead. Someone he has just seen earlier. Stacy Miller is standing a few meters away from Shawn. She wears a long black over coat and black leather trousers just like that of Shawn. She holds out her palm to reveal the devil's star floating and levitating on it. She seems to be in control of her coin now. The wind slowly blows her hair around. The atmosphere is tense. Shawn is surprised at how Stacy found him.

STACY

Mr cowboy....Would you please tell me why I'm able to levitate a coin....also would you please tell me why I was attacked by a beast yesterday.....I want answers.

SHAWN

First I need to know how you found me...

STACY

Simple....I used the coin.... now tell me.... how the hell am I able to do that...

SHAWN

Your first demon hunting ability... spiritual location....impressive...very impressive.

STACY

That doesn't answer my questions....Who am I?

Shawn doesn't know how to put it. Father Aaron appears from behind Shawn and stands beside him.

FATHER AARON

You're an Exorcist...child

They both stare at each other for some seconds not knowing what to say or do. They just stand still. The coin still floats at on Stacy's hands.
