3 Survival

"Skatá! (Shit!), It's the first day and you're already planning to die? Drakios, boy, that's not a wise decision indeed," said a voice from inside his head.

"Watch your language, I may be your vessel but that doesn't mean you can say that things all you want inside of my head," replied Drakios.

He and the girl were still falling from the sky and were not far from the ground itself, falling to the ground could mean their end at Exaimistís and their lives as well. From the girl's point of view, it would seem that Drakios was talking to himself and found this eerily weird.

She looked at him and began to ask him in a loud voice, "Who are you talking to?"

"It's none of your business!" shouted back Drakios, to be heard by her whilst in the middle of falling at a thousand feet, he had to think fast before he would meet his maker.

"Fine! I'll give you control over my body, for now," said Drakios, talking to the voice inside of his head.

Still, the girl found this weird but continued to neglect it as she was more focused on the sight below and finding a way to survive. She was ambitious and being in Exaimistís was a big achievement for her, and now, just to die from the first test was a big disappointment indeed, for she still had a lot of dreams for the future.

With her knowledge of magic, she cleared out her mind and focused on the situation she was facing. She began to scratch her head when she couldn't think of any idea, at all. She had to go through the long list of magic spells that she knew, but she couldn't find anything that could be of use in the current situation. She turned on to Drakios who was suddenly silent after a while.

His eyes were closed, this made the girl start thinking that he might've already given up on life, seeing this the girl started to shout at him.

"Hey! Don't just give up! There must be a way!"

This wasn't replied with any answer for Drakios' eyes were remained closed and he wasn't speaking a single word, it was as if he was calm despite the fact that they were probably closing the distance between them and the ground. The girl as well began to give up on any hope or chance of even surviving the fall. At that time, she started to close her eyes, thinking that it would be the only choice she had, with this, she started thinking about her life, flashing before her.

"Ahahahahaha! That's it!"

The girl was suddenly surprised by this sudden laughter, it was Drakios but his voice wasn't just his. His face looked like a crazy man sprang out of the labyrinth of the minotaur. His grin stretched out from his cheeks, this made the girl doubt about who the man in front of her really was.

"Young woman! Hold my hand!"

"Why are you calling me a young woman, you booger!?"

"Oh fine," said he, cancelling his plan of holding her hand.

The girl began to grow nervous, she couldn't tell what would meet them down below, for all there ever was - was darkness. The ground was nowhere to be seen and she could only imagine in her mind of what was waiting for her.

"Hey! Give me your hand!" shouted the girl.

"What's this? You want to hold my hand now?"

"Shut up Booger! Why do you sound so aggressive now when you were so reserved earlier, I don't understand you at all!"

"Ah young girl, stop thinking about that and clear your mind out."

"Stop calling me that for fuck's sake!"

Drakios grasp her hand while in the middle of the sky and made sure she was calmed down. He felt her pulse, it was slowly regaining its normal beat from.

"Well, this girl's a brave one," said the voice in his head.

"You're seriously telling me that right after she was shouting earlier for help?" replied Drakios.

"Well at least, you're gonna get out of this," replied the voice.

"What are you talking about?"

Out of a sudden, everything halted, they were still in the air but they weren't falling any longer. Not feeling the wind's strong pressure anymore as they were diving downwards earlier, the girl opened her eyes to see that they were still in the air. She looked at Drakios with an expression similar to a person's expression when wondering about something.

"What just happened?" asked the girl.

"I don't know either," replied Drakios.

"Wait why do you not have that grin on your face anymore?"

"What grin?"

"Earlier, you had a really scary grin that I couldn't stand. Anyways, what just happened?"

Drakios, not being able to answer her question, turned to the voice inside his head, to ask the question.

"Hey, what just happened and why are we still floating in mid-air?"

"You just survived, and you should be thankful for that," replied the voice.

Suddenly the scenery around them began to change, they were brought back to the room where they were earlier and the vassal - Arcus Vetrovius was there waiting for them. He had a smirk on his face, Drakios looked all around and saw numbers of people, but they weren't complete, there were only half of the hundreds of students that enrolled. He still didn't know what had just unravelled and how he managed to pass through that first test, once again he turned to the voice inside his head.

"How did you manage to do that?" asked Drakios.

"Well I just thought there was something fishy about the whole thing and trusted my instincts," replied the voice.

"Wait, you just betted my life on chance?"

"Looks that way to me, to be honest, I was just in deep thinking even before the test even started, I knew it was just some fear test of some sort."

"Ah! Damn You Prometheus! Forethought again, you were planning before things even started?"

"That's my ability though. I was thinking about my vassal before you, he also had his own fear test, and it got me thinking. To be honest kid, I took over your body days before and made a magic-activated wing, I was planning to use it but it's not that useful now I guess..."
