23 To create their own paradise

''Are we going to get slaves? '' Rodolphe asked for confirmation.

''What? Is there a problem?''

'' Well... Shouldn't all humans unite against the demons and demonic creatures?''

Louis sighed.

''At the end of the day, reality won't change. What do you expect me to say? I'm not going to lie to you, this world isn't ideal, and the more you learn, the more you notice it.''

''...''

'' That's why knowledge alone is only enough for a mediocre administrator. More than anything, you have to know how to control yourself, and refix yourself.''

Louis continued

''If you don't try to develop and control your heart, it may go on a rampage and stop you from moving. Sometimes, we'll see texts from the past and conclude that the period was obscure, we may also fear those who will exist in the future, but there is no place for good or bad. Nothing is only black or white, there are good and bad in everything and every situation.

We could make a simple summary of our lives, and surely the historians of the future will criticize it, will think - rightly or wrongly - that we couldn't have been happy in those troubled times, in war, and with technologies that will be outdated in the future.

But that would only be ignoring all the moments of happiness, the days so banal that we don't even think to write about them - the future isn't our period after all. It isn't a period at all, as nobody will ever live in the future.

The world is extremely beautiful and joyful, and life itself is beautiful and fascinating. People tend to get used to a way of life, and don't want to let it go. They just want to continue on the same path, improving it sometimes. And slaves are a good example of that.

Sometimes you have to stop looking at the reason for things, or things as a whole, but let go, and live your life. Of course, slaves will sometimes be mistreated, and of course, their status and freedom will be lower, however, how we treat them is our decision. And we can treat them either as humans or as objects. In the end, it is our own decision.

You may not like it, but their slaves will be just other villagers - They won't have to suffer from starvation and will help each other. Some tasks will be harsh, but if they are, would you leave them to your relatives?''

Rodolphe didn't know what to say.

''Think of it as a weapon. In itself, a weapon is an object. A knife can be used to help you feed, as it can be used to kill or protect someone you love. It's okay to be nice, but thoughts are useless. If you still want to be kind, show it with your actions, that's how you will create a better world" Louis smiled.

In the end, the 17 slaves were taken to the quarries, escorted by the elites. They had no bonds, nor did they body have any trace of a seal. There just wasn't any need for them. Far away from their home, their chances of returning home - if the place even still existed - were very low. Sold as family, the chances of rebellion were even lower.

Alain's village - evening.

[Level 1 Village - 6/ 2000 Villagers]

4 days had passed since the last time. The villagers had collected a good number of resources available nearby such as wood and stone. The precious ores would need to wait for their discovery.

The building needed for the weekly quest was still not built but would soon be - Alain refusing to lose this technique, and also wanting to move forward on the construction of the village.

The daily quests switch regularly between an extra helper and food, which satisfied the group that was now composed of 6 people.

''Alain! Come over here!'' A member of the group called out for him.

''I'm coming''

Coming out of the recruiting inn, Alain's eyes fixed on the light that illuminated the area in front of him more than the sky did. They had built a kind of campfire.

''Uh... there's a kitchen equipped at the inn you know?''

'' It's more comfortable like this! Now that there are enough of us, having a meal around the fire is a must!''

''Come on! Don't be shy, come here!''

Alain joined them.

There, they shared their stories around a fire that contrasted with the darkness of the night. If we add the sky that gently illuminated the whole area, the scene was beautiful and the atmosphere assured.

...

Alain soon realized that while Adrien's and Anne's experiences were not so foreign to him, the stories of the other members of the group sometimes left him speechless.

Some had been born in a world where energy was much scarcer than others, some had been born in monarchies, others in republics, some lived without a state, one had lived her life only within walls. Another had another form of system that applied to his entire world - although its power seemed inferior to the Evolving Village.

Cup in hand, Alain drank and ate while laughing.

Maybe, this would become his own little paradise

---

This thought grew stronger with each passing hour. Soon, they would have completed the first building, and seeing how everyday actions could be simplified by the system made him hope that one day Nirl would be the same.

...

On the 6th day, Alain finally succeeded in his weekly quest.

[Congratulations! Weekly quest successful! The technique will now be passed on to you]

Knowledge: Seals, which are imprints stamped on the bodies of important slaves, and accompanied by entrancing rituals, are usually put on dangerous Knight-level slaves. However, no talent should have a seal on them. To do otherwise is punishable by death for oneself, and one's entire immediate family.
