22 Progress

In the end, they had taken more than 300 units of wood. A nice result, considering that Alain couldn't work. Anyway, wood will always be useful since it is needed for every construction.

Alain's goal was of course to quickly upgrade the village so that he could go home. While doing so, they would do some quests and fortify the village. If the village was to be destroyed, he didn't know if he would be able to return to Nirl.

He had already seen the conditions necessary to upgrade his village.

[To upgrade to a level 2 village, you need at least 5 main infrastructures, as well as a defensive wall and a minimum of 10 villagers to maintain the village.]

Before going to bed, Alain didn't forget to recruit his new helper.

[Helper N°3.

Name : Lirs

Level : Apprentice knight (elementary)

Specificities ? ]

Well, it didn't change much, but it was quite nice to have another helping hand. As for the name... it wasn't a frequent one, to say the least.

'He must have come from a far away place' But Alain didn't inquire as it didn't matter.

Alain lay in the bed of his room, his thought a bit messy.

'Well, forget it'

As he couldn't find sleep, Alain decided to go outside. There, he sat near the river and watched the sky.

...

'System'

[Level 1 Village - 3/ 2000 villagers]

He wasn't considered a villager because he was their Lord.

'Did... you choose me ?'

[...]

That artifact was just too weird. Being able to teleport people, having a consciousness, stopping any amount of matter in a vacuum, being able to change Alain's concentration, or even creating things from nothing. These were all things that were beyond him.

[It's not what you think. I didn't choose you.]

Alain remained silent.

'Was it just random? A fluke?'

[You can put it that way. That you are sitting here talking to me is in itself a coincidence. For there can't exist an all-powerful life that knows its own future. We can't deny the probabilities of the existence of another holder of this system]

A smile appeared on Alain's face. Fortunately, justice hadn't yet arrived in his world. It wasn't his own efforts that had brought this system.

Alain stayed a few minutes admiring the scenery before returning to sleep.

Nirl - House of Louis

It had been more than a month since the forestry expedition, as for the precise date, there was little to no point knowing it.

That is, except for an administrator, of course.

«First day of the third month of the 644th year of the new calendar.

This week's record is not the best, nor the worst.

It's already been 5 weeks since the Village Chief, Alain, returned injured. But for the moment, he shows no sign of waking up. As for Eloise, the former head of Nirl's guards, she is still confined, looking for power as she tests the effects of different kinds of energies on her own body. The success seems however lacking and dangerous. She has already had to be treated at least three times in the last week.

Fortunately, no raids have affected Nirl.

Also, Rodolphe's training is progressing well, his strength increasing as much as his knowledge. He can now compete with an elementary apprentice knight - the boar's flesh having helped a lot. Apart from him, most of the villagers have seen their strength increase, but there is still a long way to go before we can feel completely safe, especially in the times we are in.

The raids have been acting strangely recently, and although I don't have precise information, I've heard that some of Duke Pepin's knights were deployed to help the border.

Last but not least, the Viscountess of Cleppe will finally keep her word, delivering the reward exchanged for the corpses of the demonic creatures: slaves. As for the number and their qualities, I'll talk about that in next week's summary. »

'' Is this an administrative document?'' Rudolph asked.

''You could say that'' Louis nodded, '' Although I'm also doing this to leave a small trace and complete the family collection, it may serve an administrative purpose. After all, it's a weekly summary. ''

'' We have a collection of them?'' Rodolphe asked, perplex

''Of course, it's in the cellar. But enough blathers, it's best not to keep the Viscountess waiting.''

Louis provided himself with a small escort before heading towards Cleppe.

Knowledge: Louis lives with his son, Rodolphe, and a cook. He has no wife, and never had one. His son was adopted during a war between humans.
