13 Busted
Zach and his Father sit down in the kitchen with some cereal, a small TV is on in the corner broadcasting the morning weather.
"It's gonna rain today, remember to bring a coat to school"
Zach rubs a bruise on his arm and smiles. The TV switches the topic from the weather to a recent murder case.
He slowly becomes quieter as his dad turns up the volume,
"Last night it is reported that a woman was attacked by three assailants, she escaped but when the police reached the scene two were already dead and one was crippled. The attacker is allegedly a monster who uses a tail to impale people and a knife like object that sucks blood. The reports are made by the survivor who was drunk at the time so no evidence apart from two mummified corpses could be found."
They both take a minute before looking at each other, the first person to speak is the Father.
"Its getting more dangerous around here lately, I think we better start saving what little money we have for a rainy day."
Zach doesn't speak and just nods with a glum face.
"You'know this isn't the first time a supernatural report was made near here either, lots of crazies running around"
.Dad, if someones life was in danger, would you take a life to save one?.
"It always depends on the circumstances. If someone was about to kill a friend or family, then I would intervene. It's not that I hate strangers but I can't put my livelihood at risk effecting you and your mother."
.Do you think heroes can exist?.
"No."
Zach frowns and continues eating his cereal. His eyes light up as he sees some text in his retina.
[Spins = 1]
He tells his dad that he had forgot something and hops upstairs. Getting to his table he gulps over the dreidel and thinks about what ability he will get next.
He spins it and waits,
Shua Shua.
As always, it fall to the side.
The top facing side reveals a picture of what looks to be a man going through a wall.
[Congratulations host for gaining the ability "Phase", phase allows you to move through solid objects at the cost of your stamina. The denser the object and the distance you travel through it effect the stamina consumption.]
Zach looks down at his hand and realizes he can't see it. panicking he looks a his other hand finding nothing.
.What's happening to me?.
[Host is being integrated with the phase ability.]
.So i will be normal in a bit?.
[Correct]
He breathes a sigh of relief and begins to see his limbs after a couple seconds, feeling like he has grown a new limb. He tries to flex the limb and finds his body becoming slightly ethereal and see through, still seated in his chair he attempts to push his body down.
Crash,
He falls through his chair and onto the floor. Feeling the rapid drain of his stamina he moves the chair out from inside himself and turns off the ability.
.Seems like i can only intentionally phase through objects.
He quickly moves his hand through the desk feeling no resistance after activating the ability.
.System, what happens if i stop the ability while phasing through something?.
[The material with the strongest bonds will remain together while the weaker one will be split. For example if the host phases his current hand into a brick wall and stops phasing, hosts hand will be split on the atomic level and disappear.]
Zach gets a cold sweat and stop questioning the system.
"Zach, you need to head out to school!"
He hears a shout from the kitchen and leaves for school.
As he walks to school but feels like someone is watching him, he decides to take the "Scenic route".
Casually walking into a park that on the way to school he ducks and hides behind a bush and waits.

Crunch,
He sees a small body scampering in the direction that he was heading in, followed by a group of people holding weapons.
They all have hoods up but Zach can see their middle eastern looking faces and realize they look kind of familiar.
"Where'd he go, you said he started walking through here!"
A tall man with a bat shouts at the young boy who was leading them.
"He did!, i swear!"
The man slaps the young boy in the face and continues on the same path towards the school.
Zach decides to call the police and confront them, he calls and tells the police the general direction that they will be in a couple minutes and prepares to confront them.
He casually dips ahead of them and turns a corner looking directly at them, everyone freezes for a couple seconds.
The tall man looks at the young boy and asks,
"Is that him?"
He nods and the tall man puts the bat on his shoulder and sizes Zach up and down.
"You know who you fucked with?"
.No...
His face remains stoic and says,
"I'm gonna ha'v to break a leg or two, sorry about this kid."
His speed surprises Zach as his bat has already swung towards his head, but in preparation for the strike Zach allows the bat to phase through his head. Due to the speed the other men don't see anything weird but the tall man is confused and almost falls over due to the inertia.
Zach backs away as the rest of them approach, but they start to hear sirens approaching.
Most of them look annoyed and frustrated, they look towards the tall man who says,
"This kids weird, we gotta get rid of him today!"
They hear this and start running for Zach, he sprints in the direction of the sirens. In front of him are the fences of the park and behind are the roads towards the school and possible police.
He runs and jumps from a fallen tree trying to get over the spiked fence.
But due to his inexperience with parkour he misjudges the distance, luckily he can fix the mistake and barely miss it by phasing through them.
The tall man who witnesses the close call squints his eyes and frowns as they run towards him vaulting over the fence with ease.
As soon as they vault over the fence they are standing in front of 3 police cars and a young man with a heavy build,
"STOP, PUT YOUR HANDS UP!"
