6 Strong Merweed

At this moment, he and Theogobu were in bliss.

Splash! Water ascended as Theogobu took a cannonball drive.

Whoa! Was this fellow trying to drown him? Nevermind. As a branch, he had the natural trait to float above water.

Ah~! That hit the spot. He felt just like a log drifting downstream. And the best part, he got to stuff himself whenever. It was close to divine life if he did say so himself. And for some odd reason, water tasted better than mushroom and wolf meat.

So what were they doing? Too relaxed?

Well, while their agenda was getting water to New Mother and the Siblings, there was no way of telling if it would help. There were also other issues he still hadn't addressed. Like for instance, a home with proper protection.

He didn't want his family to lose their lives.

Besides, right now, they were scoping out the dangers involved around the water. It was good tactics to secure your resources thoroughly, you see. And he was always up for what was most beneficial.

That said, he wouldn't have anything ruin it.

<Acquired Water Resistance>

Sigh! He understood he was inside for a while, but did it have to be that resistance? How could he enjoy a good swim? He wondered if Theogobu managed to obtain it as well.

Speaking of which, Theogobu was outside of his limited range. Because of this short sight weakness, he left the real scouting to him. Hopefully, the fellow was doing the job well.

The water rocking back and forth was also smoothing, but the bulge underneath was a useless surprise attack. In fact, his vision field allowed him to see in all directions.

Yes, even below.

That fellow would soon learn he was an all-seeing master. No tricks were permitted. He kept these thoughts until tentacles burst forth.

In no way or shape in form, Theogobu possessed tentacles.

This wouldn't perhaps be the creature told in legends, the Kraken? If so, he would die. Even if it turned out to be Lv. 1, a legendary monster was still a legendary monster. At a fundamental level, between the two, the Kraken was just built differently compared to him, a branch.

"W-watch out!"

It was too late of a warning, but it was good that the fellow had escaped danger.

<Lv. 16 Merweed>

¬A fish predator to land creatures

He understood <Scan> worked regardless of whether the entire object was in view or not, but a fish? The last time he checked, there were no known fish capable of launching seaweed tentacles.

His alertness didn't drop though. Instead, he became more alarmed. To begin with, he was never the intended target. That was something he understood quickly. It also explained why it was void of plants, despite them dominating the area.

Theogobu however, was a gullible fellow. He couldn't shout to warn him, so arriving first was the only option.

His roots spun resembling the fins of a boat motor. <Haste> was applied soon after, but he wouldn't make it. What else could he do? Up until now, <Reinforced Laws> was a passive ability. He didn't have any control over it.

Through his list of skills, after roaming the complete set, there wasn't o—

No! On second thought, he had the new ability <Leech>. He gained a slight control over anything he remained in contact with, just like Kinoko-san the Bushsite. Once he disconnected, a small portion of their life force became his to make his own stronger.

If to ask what was life force, there were several names he was familiar with knowing. Some called it the soul, spirit, life essence, and many others. Despite the different names, once it was gone entirely, the next step was death.

But it was impossible to kill it that way currently. He just needed a small window of opportunity to shift the aim.

Wings manifested through <Reinforced Nature Enlightenment> and <Steel Roots> pierced each tentacle.

Theogobu stood dumbfounded and frozen to his spot. When the tentacles changed their path, missing by a hair's breadth, Theogobu remained unchanged with wide-opened eyes and a slightly parted mouth.

He, on the other hand, didn't stop there. That fellow wasn't out of danger yet.

<Acquired Reinforced Haste>

An energy hand grabbed out, and they left the clearing at breathtaking speeds.

Whew! Crisis avoided.

"W-w-what?"

Oh! This fellow was back to normal.

Anyways, it might have been a little too exciting, but they accomplished their objective. The best decision next was to level up for a future confrontation.

And judging by its aggressiveness, it would refuse to share the water. So attempting to negotiate was not an alternative.

But before they started the hunt, he wanted to return. It had been some time since he left, and he was worried an unforeseen incident might have occurred.

Theogobu had no complaints about the suggestion, so they left right away. It also probably had to due with the fellow wanting to witness where he called home.

Well, don't get too delighted. He doubted the area with New Mother and the Siblings could compare to the den the goblin clans lived.

After all, it was a clearing surround by trees. How fascinating could that appear? Especially to goblins known for not distinguishing the difference between grass and other plants.

.

The good news, they managed to arrive at ease. When they got close, Theogobu took a dash ahead.

Why was this fellow so impatient? If he did something stupid like break one of his siblings, he was going to beat the fellow thoroughly.

"Hello! I am Theogobu. If it's okay, let's be friends."

Huh? What was going on? He understood that fellow could communicate with just about anyone, but regarding New Mother and the Siblings, none had gain self-awareness.

There were no mistaking this. This was a fact. He checked more than once too. That fellow hadn't gone crazy from overexcitement, right?

And if not, then the question was...who was he talking to?
