1 The beginning.
Chapter 1
Gil woke up to the sound of the rain pattering against the window and slowly leaking through. Since the gates opened 10 years ago Gil hasn't had a proper home after his family one was destroyed along with his family in one of the very first gate openings. He had been moved from government apartment to apartment every few months, for this reason he was looking forward to the day he turned 15 and joined the Hunters School that trained then to fight the creatures from the gates.
When the gates opened and monsters came forward, people started to develop powers as well. Scientists explained it as humans evolving due to the energy seeping out from the gates, causing people to gain powers befitting of super hero's.
Even though Gil had now powers yet, when entering the Hunters School the powerless where given the chance to awaken there dormant powers as people called it.
Today was the day Gil would be turning 15 and would be able to register for the school.
As he was getting changes into his clothes he heard a sudden chime.

Gil didn't know what to do as he saw the transparent screen and hear a voice in his head reading the information. Once the voice finished the screen disappeared.
"….system?" Gil questioned, but as soon as he finished saying it it popped open displaying different information.

Not knowing what to do, and half thinking he was still asleep, he thought tasks.

1. Apply for Hunter School
Upon completion 20exp will be given.
Other tasks not listed can be completed and reward additional points to stats]
Even though he thought he was asleep he decided to head to the booth to sign up for the school. Heading out he grabbed his coat and ventured into the rain. Taking the first steps into his new life.
As he started to walk he felt less and less like this was a dream. He was cold and wet which has never happened in a dream so far. Yet he continued. After 30 minutes of walking we arrived at the back of a short queue of kids his age waiting to sign up for the school. Slowly the line trickled down like the water in his jacket until it was his go.
He entered the tent and saw a man sat by a table. Gil slowly made his was to the empty chair as there was nowhere else to go.
"Chop chop, I don't wanna be here longer then I have to" the man sitting down said as Gil was taking to long. Gil quickens his step and took to the empty seat.
"Name and age, power if you want it to be known as well" the man said.
Gil responded "Gil age 15. No power yet."
The man dotted this down and then took Gil's hand.

As all of these where popping up Gil was trying to read them and nearly missed what the man said: "Good ability for mana to flow through".
"Please return here in seven days ready to leave for the Hunters School. You will need to bring everything on this list, anything not able to be brought will be provided. Now please leave".
Gil left more confused then when he arrived, then to top it of:

Wanting to get back home and hopefully wake up he ran back as fast as he could.
When he got home he sat on his bed hoping to wake up when he hear the system make another statement.

Suddenly feeling refreshed even after sprinting home Gil decided to look at the system messages.

When Gil thought about it his vision suddenly shifted. He could see everything normally but there was a very faint glow on his coat throw on the floor.
As he looked at it another screen popped up.
[inspect item?]
Gil thought for a while before thinking, yes.
[Item: Worn down rain coat. Contains weakest form of water mana due to water gathered on it]
Gil thought he under stood what the system was saying paired with his prior knowledge.
Every thing was exposed to mana when the gates opened and those that have powers can use it. They can either use the natural mana around them or use the mana from within them. The very weak mana was most likely due to the rain and the little bit of mana it contains.
After looking at this he then looked at the message about stamina and was wondering how it had increased.
He came to the conclusion that it didn't matter as this was a dream.
Ignoring everything else to do with the system he continued to do his daily training. He would do 50 pushups and sit ups go for a 10k run then practice swinging a "sword" which was a heavy metal pole.
After doing this all day he finally finished, seating back on his bed and letting his curiosity got the better of him.

He was surprised that he has levelled up his status and level, so he looked back at the log and connected how he levelled up.
When doing a certain task he would receive a stat in that respective aspects for example running would increase both stamina and agility. But stamina would increase more.
He also learnt that his swordsmanship appeared whilst swinging his sword.
With nothing else to do for the week he waited and finally coming to the conclusion that it wasn't a dream he decided he would push himself to the limit and see what happened.
The day had finally come for Gil to go to the Hunter School and he had never felt better.

Through this week he had spent longer then normal on his swordsmanship and it had shown by levelling up twice. He even has 3 free status pints but wasn't sure what to do with them.
The other big thing he realised was he now had more muscles and was taller. He looked around the room he called home for the last 7 months thinking if he wanted to keep anything else. All he had packet was some old clothes, spare shoes and a few bits of food. The only important item he had was a locket with a picture of family and the wedding rings of his parents. These where the only items left from any off them.
Turning his back to the room for the last time he headed to the door getting ready to depart. He thought the last time he ran from the booth it took him 17 ish minutes. As he set of running as fast as he could he realised how different he was. When he was at the half was point it had only taken him 5 minutes when he finally got there if felt like 10 minutes. This was impressive to Gil who also wasn't out of breath. As Gil slowly walked back to the tent that he want to last time the same man was there.
Following the other people that where going through the tent Gil was about to when the man suddenly stuck his arm out staring at him.
"Who are you" he said staring at Gil
"….Gil…..I was told to come here today" Gil said unsure as to how to respond.
"Really, you sure look different then from last week, give me your hand." As he was saying this and before Gil could respond the man already had his hand.
"Yeah… you seem to be the same person. You possibly have the power to enhance yourself to the peak of humans, hence why you've grown so much in the last week"
After he finished saying this he let Gil go and enter the tent. When he entered he saw a light blue Gate and people heading in. He followed and was amazed by the scene before him.
It was a large a castle and several other light blue portals.
