1 Prologue

The era of the progress of humanity came to an end without any warning. Many wished for that, but few could consider what happened a good thing.

For me, everything ended, or rather; it began on the last day of high school. It was a hot summer Friday, but despite the heat, all my classmates and I were looking forward to the holidays. I had a part-time job, thanks to that, I wouldn't have as much free time as them, but I was still satisfied with that.

I was only eighteen years old, but due to some circumstances, I had to leave my parents house and live alone. Usually, this would be very exciting for someone of my age, but things aren't so easy. I had to get a job and still to study to finish high school. The best option I found was to work at the training center for Olympic athletes of my city seven days a week.

Specifically, I organized and cleaned the materials used by archery athletes. For several times I was invited to observe the training of them and also for many times, they offered themselves to teach me how to shoot with the bow, but I refused this offer because I was afraid of damaging the equipment. I never had any financial problems, but still, better safe than sorry. Besides, that was a waste of time, since I naively thought that I couldn't apply that in real life.

Usually, it was dark when I left work and went home. However, to my surprise, the sun was still setting, looking at such a beautiful and natural event. I felt a lot of inner peace. In that rare moment of tranquility, I began to think of everything that had happened during the last two years. I was forced to leave home and rent another place to live. Although everything was a little troublesome at the beginning, I felt satisfied with my current situation, because unlike before, I wasn't causing problems for anyone. With a small smile of satisfaction on my face, I stopped walking and began to watch the sunset.

"Two years have passed ... I wonder how they are. Maybe I can visit them now ..."

As I smiled and imagined myself returning home, I felt a great chill, and then I heard a sound of a heartbeat echoing through my head.

"What was that?"

I didn't have time to think of an answer; because I had the impression of seeing the sun getting a little bigger. Somehow, I felt that those events were connected, but soon I forgot about it because right there, I lost consciousness.

I was too naive; I thought that I could go back to the old times, but unfortunately, that wasn't possible. After that day, everything changed, the world changed, and it changed forever
