Orphaned child

Ace shifts and moves in his bed. His sliver hair looks distraught, and his breathing is quick. 

gasp. gasp. gasp!

what the hell not this crap again!

some of the other teens in the room begin to complain. looking at ace you could see that the mark on his neck the shape was like a large sharp tooth, began to dimly glow red. Inside aces head, he stands in a dark room with only a small bit illuminated ace wasn't the most athletic looking guy, but he was decently fit looking. Aces sliver eyes looked everywhere unable to see anything. He breaths in and out slowly his heart begins to calm but, shifting can be heard in the darkness. ace began to panic whatever was the movements sounded like a mountain was starting to shift itself deep growling sound could be heard.

I have to go!

Ace screams in his head but nothing he was in shock. Two deep blue eyes the size of wrecking balls open.

You have three days before I come!

The beast's voice was deep but ace was still in shock. He felt a hand touch his side.

Ace! Ace!

Gasp!

Ace lifts himself off of the bed moving away from the voice.

Child it's me.

the women hold out her hands. this was aces and the other children's caretaker Amelia.

Kid you're waking up the whole house what is wrong. 

Her brow scrunches up around her teal eyes her brown hair messy from the night's sleep. Ace stops for a moment and thinks about what he had just saw the strange beast and the message. But decides its best to keep this to himself for now.

nothing I'm fine.

he's not fine get that freak out of here!

one of the other teen yells.

oh, hush now!

amelia snaps back. 

here why don't we take you to the punishment room to sleep for tonight?

Sure whatever.

Ace quickly grabs his things and follows amelia out the room he wasn't mad about going to the punishment room it was more of an escape for him it was for the other kids. as they walked through the house the two of them remained silent. the house was very large though on the inside it took more of a Victorian approach, but ace thought the smell of the syrup-stained carpet and the patchy drapes just made him want to barf. Finally, we got to the room.

Here you go kid call me if you need me.

Ace steps in the room it feels still it has drapes all over the room with a small bed in the middle. Ace takes in a deep breath before heading straight for the bed. When he sits down on the edge of the bed you the sounds of springs can be heard scrunching up.

Alright what the hell just happened?

Ace thought. But not many answers could of came to mind for him as to what the creature said.

Three days till What?

For a second the thought that this was aces sign that he may die soon ran through his mind but decided that the thought of that would be pointless but also realized that is unlikely as ace already knew what the beast was. These are known as a beast spirit but, what confused ace was that these things are normally only ever inside of evokers no one has ever had a spirit without going through the trees test. 

So why would I have seen a beast spirit.

Ace begins to rub his temples. 

maybe all of this isn't real and was just a nightmare wouldn't be the first time I've had nightmares. Ace grabs the pendant around his neck it was a crystal that was clear but looked like it held on to a thunderstorm on the inside. As he looked at the pendant sorrow appeared in his eyes. 

I wish I could ask you guys what's happening mom and dad.

Ace lays down on the bed maybe it's all just nothing and I'm just going on about a nightmare. let's just go to bed maybe I'll see if I can find some more information out on it tomorrow.

The next day ace wakes up to banging on his door.

Ace get up kid!

Alright!

Ace didn't like being woken up one bit he often fantasizes about the day when that doesn't happen anymore. none the less he gets up anyway and thrown on his cloths and walks to the orphanages common room. the joys of the morning elicit screams from the children. Ace can hear this from down the hallway. When ace finally gets to the common room a lot of the chatter stops.

Thanks for ruining my good night sleep null blood. You owe me for that. 

The teen stepping toward ace his name is James he and ace never had much of a relationship he had low cut brown hair and looked fairly average as a guy.

You stupid null blood freak you and your people just love to be an inconvenience for the rest of us.

Before he could get another word out ace punch's him right in the nose. He falls to the ground blood rushing out of his mouth. Ace never really did take to the bullying thing to kindly nor did he like being called a freak.

Ace!!

Amelia said.

You can leave and start heading to school this instant.

Yeah, whatever you could have told him to leave me alone before it got to that point!

Ace storms out the door. Amilea felt bad but, she knew that people get treated poorly for being sympathizers of the null blood. She didn't like it. It was just the way the world worked.

Assholes!

Ace thought. he was frustrated but, this wasn't out of the norm for him so he decided he would just let it be and head towards school. on the way their ace wrapped a scarf around his neck the scarf was tethered but that was enough to not bring too much attention to the mark itself. The outer wall is where ace lived this was never the nicest place this is where all the lower class lived. It was in a constant state of muck and dirt the reason it was low class was because there wasn't as much protection against monster attack in this area as there was in the inner wall. 

Spare credits!

A Begger sits on the side of the rode his eyes looking very hazy. 

Ace walking by felt for the old man but, not having anything himself couldn't help. The outer wall was made up of dirt paths beggars and thugs in the environment. It smelled like rotten food for the garbage rotting outside of people's homes. Some reptilian birds that looked like they were tetra dactyls with black angel wings were fighting over some rotten meat. Not too far ahead there were men all wearing hoods with a red strip going down the side. they were forming a circle around two other men. Ace moves over to the side of the road in an instant.

Leave me alone!!

Thud!

one of the men in the middle fall to the ground as the other comes out from the circle he was a buff man bald with a big scare across his face. Ace speed up in hopes that the men would leave him alone.

people are assholes everywhere.

ace thought to himself.

ace arrives at the school out front you could see a large sign made out of wood that read. 

New Blood Acadamy. 

The school looked more like a dojo with an outside area for fighting training where you were taught how to defend yourself. The whole place was kept very clean and the atmosphere felt more military then school. 

Hey your here early.

Ace looking to where the voice came from saw his beast class teacher.

Why I say I never thought of you the early bird type Mr. ace.

Well, I am today Mr. stark.

Mr. stark was never to mean to ace but, ace never really felt like he could get too close to him. Plus, the man always and a strange interest in aces mark.

You know your turning 18 soon correct.

um yea why...

Mr. stark leans closer to ace. ace backing away a bit. Quietly Mr. stark says.

Have you had any weird dreams lately?

What!

Aces eyes widen a bit taken aback by this.

um I...

regaining his composure.

Why do you ask that's weird. 

mmm no reason at all.

Now that ace thinks about it most of the people here tend to think the man is strange but, he was the only evoker the school could find to teach in the outer wall. 

Hey null blood freak you thought you were goanna get away with that! 

Ace looks behind him. it's a boy with four others walking towards him.

James.

James had two blood-stained tissues sticking out of his nose. and a band aid across his nose.

Your goanna pay for what you did at the orphanage. 

Ace thinks maybe he should run but, really doesn't car enough to try. these types of guys would just find him later and it would be the same scenario.

Oh no not me.

Ace says mocking the boy.

You're mocking me freak. at least my parents didn't turn me into a monster or is that how the story goes.

Aces eyes begin to look lifeless. with no more words spoken he walks towards the boys.

I hate everyone.

Ace thought.

ace balls his fist up at tight as he can before running at the group of boys as fast as he could. James seeing this coming throws out a punch of his own at ace but, ace dodges underneath at his him right in the nose once again. The other boys begin to hit ace he tries to fight back hitting a few of them before he gets thrown to the ground. The teacher he talked to earlier could be seen making sure to look away acting like he hadn't noticed what was happening.

Ace!!!

A voice was heard it was deeper voice with a cocky undertone to it. Once ace heard this he knew exactly who it was.

Dim.

Dim runs in punching one of the boys causing him to fall. pushing another allows ace to get off of the ground and the two boys go back after the four right away. But before they could really get going another voice chimes in.

Stop!

His voice was very recognizable. he was Mr. Gale the principle he was a dark tall and fit elf with very Handsom features dressed in a tethered suit. 

The two of you can go as for you four boys you all will be coming with me to have a conversation.

He points at James and his crew.

what that bull shit!

You two I will talk to you both later. 

Dim and ace nod. before heading off before class. 

Well, look at you always finding ways to make friends.

Ace looks at dim with a scowl. 

Ha Ha. hey man. Anyways what happened with those guys. 

looking at dim he had gotten dirt all over his spikey black hair as well as his two wolf ears on his head. Dim had two obsidian eyes and was a bit taller than ace. Dim was an animal kin that just meant they had features like an animal.

You know just the normal stuff that always happens to me. Thanks for the help.

Yea you know I'll always help with ass holes like that.

How were things at home?

Ace asked. dim looks away for a moment before going on.

well things with my mom have yet to change but, you know how that is. what about you anything new? 

Yea something crazy happened last night...

Ace paused before telling dim thinking that it might just sound to crazy but, decides that it is probably nothing to worry about anyways.

So last night I had a dream that a monster almost felt like it woke up inside of me it was massive, but the beast didn't kill me or anything it just told me that I had three days. 

What so you're saying you have a beast spirt? well, I thought only people with monsters are evokers.

I know But, I don't think it's anything.

well, you never know i mean you are a null blood right so what if it's related to that. what if you unlock some bad ass power in three days.

Dim gets a bit excited. Ace stares at dim with a blank face. 

What if I die in three days.

Oh, right I guess we don't know for sure maybe we should go to the library they are bound to have something on null bloods that should help.

Y-Yea sure.

Ace was kind of taken back by dims desire to figure it out as ace wanted to bury the whole thing and hoped that's what dim would tell him to do as well but, ace was thankful for the support from him. 

After all of that was done the boys just hung out before having to head to their first class. The day went like normal they had their normal classes like math and science but, their last few classes today would be classes meant to teach the basic knowledge needed to become an evoker. In this case it was beast class.

Ace and dim walk into class together and sit in the back corner of the class dim always wanted to sit a little bit closer but this wasn't the case with ace. The same teacher from before was the teacher of this class. but ace always found himself looking out the window in class most of the time but, today he found his eyes glued to the front bored that read.

Nulls and Curses. This had the types of effects listed but one caught aces eye the most. Strange dreams.
