250 241: A Plague of Phantoms XXV

"WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" Sin bellowed as he stared at Titania with looks of fear and disbelief.

"They fused…Jane and her evo fused…." Astrid muttered, seemingly staring off into space.

"Yes! I inscribed the spell correctly!" I exclaimed, doing a fist bump.

I was currently in the middle of the desert with Titania, Bo, everyone at Sho'lajah and my classmates, minus Iris who left for her brother's funeral earlier this morning. The reason for this was to show them one of the things I had been working on while doing all the stuff for Evo-cution: manacite enchanted items. Something that I had hoped to keep a secret for a little while longer but that plan went out the window yesterday when Jane and Iris found the manacite dagger I made.

"Wait…you didn't know if you inscribed the spell correctly?!" Titania exclaimed and glared at me. I shrugged and looked away nervously.

"Manacite is a little difficult to work with…damn near impossible unless it's heated to near melting point. You know bow many times I burned myself trying to do that?" I said defensively.

"Oh for the live of the gods Starlight. I could of told ya that. Manacite is one of the hardest materials round, harder than diamonds." Grandpa Seamus said.

"Yeah…didn't expect it to be this hard though…" I muttered.

"Yeah, yeah, it's hard, can we get back to the fact that Jane and her evo just fused!" Damon exclaimed and pointed to Titania.

"I agree with Damon, that seems to be the more important subject here!" Alberto chimed in. "You made a spell that can fuse a splicer and evo together! This discovery is the stuff that legends are made of!"

"And creating enchanted items, learning to read the runic language at the age of eighteen, defeating not one, but three Paragons in their own field of study, and being a star farm crystal bearer isn't?" I asked cocking a eyebrow at him. Damon frowned and crossed his arms.

"Well when you say all that it sounds like business as usual for you but for the splicing community as a whole its world breaking!" Damon exclaimed.

"Well it would be of I created the spell. I just rediscovered a really ancient spell that ancient splicers used pretty commonly back in the day." I said with a shrug.

"Regardless of how you came to know it the fact you know it is incredible!" Astrid cried out. She walked over to Titania and started circling her, observing her like one does a lab experiment. Titania frowned and snapped her wings open flying up above Astrid and landing behind me.

"I am not a thing to be ogled." Titania said sternly. Astrid blushed and looked down at her feet.

"Sorry Jane…" She apologized.

"We are Titania, not quite Jane, not quite Ayia'liah." Titania corrected, in a harsher tone. Astrid flinched at that tone and nodded

"Sorry Titania." She apologized. Titania nodded then jumped into the air, flying several feet away from everyone. A second after she landed a bright green light enveloped her as green crystal encased her body before shattering, reveling Jane. The shattered crystal then collected and turned back into Ayia'liah.

"Wow! I don't feel exhausted this time!" Jane replied as she looked herself over. I smirked and crossed my arms as Jane walked over, Ayia'liah landed on Jane's shoulder and shook elegantly.

"You can thank that manacite dagger." I said pointing to the dagger in her hand.

Jane looked down at the dagger and held it up to the light. While manacite was mostly clear while in its unprocessed form once it was melted down and processed it took on a black, almost ash color. The dagger in question was black as night except where the runes were, those were blood red thanks to the rhank.

"It felt a little different from your other enchanted items." Jane said with a frown. "It was already connected to another mana source…or perhaps it's own mana source."

"That's probably because manacite is mana." Grandpa Seamus said. All eyes turned to him and he pointed at the sand beneath his feet. "It's made when mana underground is compressed into a solid shape. Manacite absorbs mana around it and stores it."

"Wait it's made from mana?!" Astrid and Jade exclaimed. I nodded then took the dagger from Jane's hand and stuffed the dagger down the back of my waistband.

"Yeah which also makes it hard to transport it. Since manacite absorbs residual mana I can't put anything made with inside my void pocket." I said. Grandpa frowned at me.

"Wait, I thought ya put a bunch of crags of the stuff inside that black hole thingy." He said.

"Yeah…it was unprocessed manacite. The processed stuff drains enough mana to disrupt the spell and breaks it down." I explained. Nate narrowed his eyes at me and crossed his arms.

"Define 'disrupts the spell Chase?" Nate asked. I looked away from him nervously, suddenly remembered what happened last time when the spell was disrupted. My void pocket basically vomited everything inside it out into the lobby of the apartment building.

"Yeah…sorry about the mess in the lobby last week…my void pocket kinda...vomited..." I said nervously.

"Gods! Really Chase! There was a hole in the wall the size of a carriage!" Nate snapped.

"Sorry! That was an actual carriage…" I muttered.

"WHY DO YOU HAVE A CARRIAGE IN YOUR VOID POCKET!" Nate bellowed. I looked away and rubbed the back of my neck.

"Reasons…" I said innocently. Nate looked like he was about to blow a gasket when Jade walked over and placed a hand on her husband's shoulder.

"Calm down Nate. It's not like any apartments were damaged and besides Chase owns the whole building…and pays our salaries." Jade said calmly. Nate huffed and pointed at me with a crooked finger.

"He could have at least told me that he left a massive mess in the apartment's lobby!" Nate grumbled.

"In my defense I meant to have it all repaired before anyone motives but by the time I got everything back in my void pocket the orkands were already working to repair the damage." I said then scratched my neck. "But you're right I should have told someone. Sorry."

Nate took a deep breath then sighed and shook his head.

"Well at least something was learned and nobody was hurt. Thank you for apologizing." Nate said then pointed to Jane and Ayia'liah. "Speaking something learned what exactly are the rules of this spell? Can anyone use it or are there restrictions?"

"A few that we know of. You have to have a sufficient mana pool to cast the spell and you and your evo have to have a strong bond. Aside from that not much. The only ones who have actually cast the spell is Turak'Kahn, Jane and me." I explained.

"Turak'Kahn?" Madilyn asked.

"Yeah, Uncle Turry! Jane's dad." Bo exclaimed happily. Nate and Jane froze and then looked at their son.

"Jane's dad…as in the Pharaoh of Egypt!" Nate exclaimed, I could already see the panic rising in his eyes. Bo nodded again happily.

"Yep!"

"As in the leader of our country?" Jade asked.

"Yep…did you two get him in the head these last couple days?" Bo asked.

"Before you freak out, Bo has special permission form Turak'Kahn to call him uncle Turry." I quickly interjected. Nate, Jade, and Sin all shook their heads and looked at Bo in disbelief.

"Gods above, first a Paragon and now a Pharaoh. Your little brat certainly has a knack for enchanting hearts, Nate." Sin said with a smirk.

"Yeah…I'm starting to wonder where he got this talent. It sure as hell didn't come from me." Nate grumbled.

"Considering how much hotter your wife is compared to you, I'd beg to differ…" Haws muttered under his breath. Louie and Sin both snickered while Nate looked absolutely clueless.

"Either way, Chase!" Madilyn exclaimed getting everyone's attention. "You should use this at Evo-cution. Not even as a selling point but as soft-core warning. Even without the ability to sense magic I could tell that Titania was many times more dangerous than Jane or Ayia'liah was separately. You could almost say it felt more dangerous than you. I can only imagine how powerful you and one of your true transcended evos would be…"

"GODS ABOVE!" Damon bellowed and slapped his forehead. "I didn't think about Chase and his monstrosities using that spell! Its damn near freaking world breaking!"

I wanted to refute him but he was right. Since crafting the dagger I've done some trial fusions with a couple of my evos late at night while everyone was asleep. Namely, Bone-lasher, Alpa'nagia, Fours, and Bellial. Each of those fusions were, filthy powerful, for a lack of better word. Bone-lasher and Bellial's fusions especially.

"I actually planned to show off the crystal genesis spell off at Evo-cution. Along with a few other things…" I said then walked over to a black duffle bag that I had brought with us and tossed in the sand before Jane used the dagger. I opened it, reached inside, and pulled out the gun that Jade made for me. "…Such as a couple of new weapons that the security team is going to be carrying."

The revolver that I was now calling Dia Caos which meant Chaos God in gaelic. Was modified with a cylinder made of manacite and a wooden handle that I enchanted with the same runes that I had on the mana-lock with a slight twist.

I turned and pointed the revolver out towards the desert and pulled the first trigger. Dia Caos fired a fire bullet that split into two and struck a sand dune a few meters away. The bullets exploded into two pillars of flames that quickly melted the dune and turned it into molten glass. I pulled both triggers. Ice bullets fired from all three barrels and then split into six bullets this time, striking the molten glass and freezing it on impact, making a field of ice that stretched all the way back to me.

"What the hell?" Sin grumbled. I walked back over to the duffle bag and pulled two revolvers that I had bought in the gold city and modified with manacite chambers and then handed one to Sin and the other to Nate.

"I have a theory that since manacite absorbs residual mana, a weapon that uses mana like a enchanted item could be used by normies since it would use mana absorbed from its surroundings and not the individual." I said

Nate frowned and looked at the revolver and then pointed it at same dune I fired at. When he pulled the trigger a dark bullet fired from the mana-revolver, it didn't split like the ones from Dia Caos but it did create a small black hole that sucked up the cracked glass on impact for a few seconds before disappearing. Nate's eyes widened as he looked down at the revolver and then back at me.

"Hephaestus hammer! I fired a magic bullet!" Nate exclaimed then looked to his wife who looked as surprised as he did.

"IT WORKS! WHOO!" I exclaimed and did a fist pump into the air.

Grandpa took the gun from Nate and fired it in the same direction. This time a wind bullet fired from the gun and created a small tornado on impact, flinging sand and glass shards all over the place. Grandpa looked the gun over and nodded approvingly.

"Good work with the modifications Starlight." Grandpa Seamus said then turned and handed it back to me. Sin took his own shot the arched a brow and looked down at the gun.

"It didn't use any of my mana…surprising. I can sense mana inside the cylinder and it's a lot denser than my own…must be yours." Sin said then handed me back the mana-revolver. "When you said new weapon of the security teams…you meant you both Chad and I to have one?"

"Yeah and not just you two either. Nate, Jade, Haws, Louie, Angie. I want everyone packing,.." I said as I walked back over to the duffle bag and tossed the guns back inside before reaching inside and pulling out a small jewelry box out. I turned to everyone and opened it, reveling manacite rings inside. Enough for everyone. "…I also want everyone to have one of these."

Bo walked over and quickly plucked a ring out of the box and slipped it on his finger. He looked at it for a second then frowned and looked up at me.

"What's the enchantment?" He asked.

"A special one I've been working on since Tolapo village." I replied then motioned for everyone to come over and grab a ring. Everyone did and slipped them on. Once they did I set the box down and palmer the ring meant for me and channeled mana into it. The runes that circled all the rings all started to glow but only mine had a axiom spell sigil appear in front of it.

"It allows me to communicate with everyone that has the ring or a couple people I want to privately." I said aloud. Everyone gasped and grabbed their heads then all looked towards me.

"I CAN HEAR YOUR VOICE IN MY HEAD!" Everyone exclaimed at the same time. I smirked and nodded my head confidently.

[The rings were all made from the same piece of manacite ore so they have a connection. While you are holding them or wearing them all you need to do is say what you want while focusing on the ring. The spell will pick up you're trying to activate it and send your thoughts to whoever you want that has another rings.] I explained.

[This is to make sure we can all stay in contact during Evo-cution?] Madilyn asked.

[Yes…it'll also make coordinating everything for Evo-cution easier] I replied.

[So basically ya want us all ta wear these at all times Starlight?] Grandpa Seamus asked. I nodded and smirked.

"We have a little more than a week left before we have to leave and a lot left to do…let's go full steam ahead with maximum efficiency!"
